Waverly smiled up at Brayden and laughed a little. “Are you crying?” She asked as she hugged him back. “I guess I’m better than I thought.” She stopped joking for a minute and placed her head on his chest. “Trust me I totally did have to get you something. I’m really glad you like it. I thought maybe you’d think it’s stupid.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a small kiss on his lips.

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with a few tears." Bray chuckled, "Nah.  I'd have been fine if you'd just chilled out on the couch with me.  This is definitely a better gift than that, though." He said, tucking her hair behind her ear.  "It is far from stupid.  It's the best." He leaned down and kissed her back.

She grabbed the box and held it close to her. She stood up and made her way over to him. “Brayden. I-I wanted you to have this. For your birthday. I know it’s not a whole lot, but…” she handed him the box. She waited in anticipation for him to open it, not sure how he’d feel about it.

Brayden smiled at the small box, touched that she'd thought to get him anything.  "You're the best.  You totally didn't have to get me anything."  He said as he opened the box.  When he saw the guitar pick inside his grin widened.  He picked it up and flipped it over in his palm.  On one side was his band's name, on the other his favorite picture of himself and Wave.  He set it back in the box and then set the box aside.  Happy tears stung at his eyes as he gathered Wave into a hug.  "You're the best.  You are amazing.  Thank you."

Waverly stood smiling in her room. She was actually really proud of herself for this one. She made her way over to her dresser. Inside the top drawer was a small box that contained the gift Waverly had decided to give Bray for his birthday. Normally, she wasn’t very good at this kind of thing. She hadn’t had much practice here lately so she wasn’t sure if it was actually a good idea or not. Here goes nothing, she thought to herself. “Hey Brayden,” she called from her room, “Can you come here for a minute?”

Bray looked up from his guitar at the sound of Waverly's voice.  Slightly concerned, he set the guitar down on his bed and rose to his feet.  "Sure.  Give me a minute."  He took his hair out of the bun he'd had it in, pulled on a shirt, and made his way to Waverly's room.  He leaned on her door frame and crossed his arms over his chest.  "What's up sunshine?"

I never back out of anything, but I may just become so unbearable between now and then that you have no choice but to fire me.

I doubt that'll happen.  Something tells me I'll be happy keeping you around for as long as you'll stay around.

Hey, you agreed to be merch girl.  You gonna back out on us now?

I know how much you miss touring.

Yep.  And this time I get to have you on tour with me, which makes it even better.

I bet you’re excited.

We're all kind of pumped.  We're ready for the album to be out in it's entirety, because after that we get to tour on it.

So, the first single from our new album is supposed to be out in like, three weeks.

Waverly: Okay.

Waverly: Hey...um...thank you.

Waverly: Well I'm glad I have you to worry about me. You can never be too careful!

Waverly: Well we'll see if I stay that way for long.

Bray: I'll be here worrying about you for a long time.

Bray: I think you will. I'm feeling like you'll be my favorite for as long as you'll let me.

Nothing beats a fuckin’ long, hot shower after touring for so long, too. And having local girls to fuck more than once instead of groupies. It’s nice.

I agree with you on the shower.  I was never one for fucking groupies.  I prefer monogamy.

Waverly: I appreciate the concern but I have at least some coordination. I've been training to be careful for years. Caution is what I do, remember?

Bray: You can't make me stop worrying. It's just not gonna happen.

Bray: Yep. My most favorite of all.

Yeah, in Texas the gulf coast beaches are fed by the Mississippi River, so they’re all muddy and gross. Here you can actually see through the water.

Ew. I’ve been a lot of places but I’ve neglected to go to the beach for most of them. Touring takes a lot out of me and I was usually too lazy or busy to get the fuck up anyway.

Touring beats the shit out of me man. By the end of it all I want to do is sleep in my own bed. But it's also hella fucking fun.

Waverly: I think I can manage to get into your room without breaking my ankle Brayden.

Bray: just lookin out for my sunshine. Can't fault a guy for being too cautious with his favorite lady.

Waverly: Okay. I'll be there in just a minute.

Bray: Watch out when you walk in. My guitar case is on the floor. It's not like, close to the door or anything, but I don't want you to trip or anything.

Waverly: Really?

Waverly: No I don't want to talk about it. I'd rather listen to you play.

Bray: yeah, really. I promise.

Bray: okay. I can do that. I've got plenty new stuff for you to hear.

Waverly: That sounds good. I could use something to calm me down.

Waverly: I'm glad. I appreciate that. I haven't had someone really there for me in a long time. The last I had that was with my parents.

Waverly: I miss them so fucking much.

Bray: do you want me to come to you or do you want to come in here?

Bray: well, I'm really here for you. And I'm in it for the long haul. I'm gonna be here for as long as you let me.

Bray: do you want to talk about it? I'm here to listen.
