It doesn’t matter how much time passes, I’m running in place. I get the illusion of movement, like I’m going forward, but I’m not. I’m always returning to that spot where I’m all alone, and my brain’s messed up, and there’s nothing I can do that’ll ever really change it. The thing is, I’m not returning to that spot because I never left.

when did the windmills start turning so slow?

i didn't notice until this very moment. is it the weight of unsaid stories that weighed on their tired shoulders? or the weight of unsaid words that hung heavy in the air?

the pace was like a sign of pleading for release. the once vital structures creak and groan under the pressure. it was as if the very air itself held its breath.

what was once rhythmic whirring is now a tired sigh. the landscape around me waited for a pause between the silence. the sun dips below the horizon as i make a promise… to listen, to unravel, to give voice to the stories left resting.

i stand against the gently swaying fields hoping at some point there will be a strong enough breeze. one that will start the windmills up again and then maybe it'll feel like it never stopped.

i always hated this statement. my hate grew more when it was turned into this “cute trendy hashtag” that everyone believed would be so cool to use. we already live in a world where women are deemed less capable than men. we are seen as too emotional, too weak, too unaware, and too incompetent. so who thought it was a good idea to feed into these misogynistic stereotypes and label it as humor? let’s stop and think about the things we normalize.
