Automotive glazing putty works well to hide the seams between the 6 printed pieces of this mask.
A gift I made for someone who inspires me. ♥
Homunculus keychain, scaled up to be more of a coaster.
I forgot to buy an oil filler funnel, so I printed one instead! I coated the inner wall with epoxy for good measure.
Rose vase.
Magnetic locking carabiner.
Happy Mother's Day!
I made this custom wax seal by casting pewter. The housing screws together and was printed in 40% woodfill filament - and sanded, stained and polished as usual. On the particular attempt that I used, there were few enough air bubbles along the critical details of the design so I just cleaned up the rest with epoxy.
These are the results of some of my early attempts at pewter casting. It took several attempts to get an acceptable result. The key was quenching the cast in water after pouring it into the mold without creating too many air bubbles. PETG works somewhat better than PLA but still softens quickly in contact with molten pewter, so speed and finesse was crucial!
Replaced my printer's old worn brass extruder gear with a steel one with many more teeth. It made a huge difference in both quality and reliability. That being said, I didn't even notice it was an issue since I usually print with a .6mm nozzle and .3mm layer height. This particular project demands more detail so I'm using a .3mm nozzle and .1mm layers, which also requires more accurate extrusion.

Another white elephant White Elephant gift!
It's been a while since I last posted, and I've since I switched my workflow to Fusion 360 → Print Studio → Cura 3.0, and wrote a script to automate my printer pausing for filament changes. Definitely have not secretly been building an army...
Printed and polished for The Greatest Internet Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen 2017 (AKA GISHWHES).
For a close friend who recently enlisted.
For a pair of happy lovebirds. :P
