“Alive again? You were dead before?” Rapunzel murmured, tilting her head to the side as she looked at the man. “I didn’t even know that was possible” But then again, she’d once had magic hair, so maybe all things were possible
“For as long as I can remember.” Lock had never thought about how he came to be when there were much more fun things to entertain his thoughts with. “I didn’t know this was possible,” he retorted, gesturing to the town around them.

“Yes, tart. The baked treat with fruit jelly in the centre. They are scrumptious.”
She was pleasantly surprised to hear what the boy was excited about. “There’s a special time dedicated to scaring people?”
“So it’s a treat, hm, what kind of TRICKS do you have ?”
“Yes! Life’s no fun without a good scare!” He chuckled after reciting the familiar song of the town. “But-- it’s not to hurt people... most of the time.”

“Oh,” she laughed. “Where I come from, it’s called All Hallows’ Eve. So that’s your favorite holiday then?”
“Where are you from?” He inquired, pressing for an answer. His reasoning wasn’t always the most sound but Lock gathered facts like a proficient detective gathered clues. “Yes! It should be everyone’s favorite, I think.”

“It could be worse… it could be some cold, scary place with worn-down old houses or something. The heat here is a little intolerable, but you get used to it.” He tried to reason, with a shrug. “Why don’t you try doing something fun? What do you usually do back home?”
“What’s worse about that?” He asked, genuinely confused. The other male was simply describing Halloween Town in its most basic sense. “We plan new ways to trick, sometimes we receive treats if we’re good enough at it. Jack says my siblings and I are the best trick or treaters in town.”

Raising an eyebrow, Liam tilted his head just slightly as the boy explained his definition of the best time of the year. “Okay then… a little weird but, so is everything else in this place so….”
Lock sighed, shaking his head. “Nobody here gets it. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I miss Shock and Barrel.” In his town, feelings were far from prohibited but under Boogies command, they had little to show the warm and fuzzy sides of themselves to each other even though they were siblings.

“It’s terrible everywhere if you want to get technical.” Liam shrugged, glancing down at the younger man, unable to help but raise an eyebrow. “Fright season?”
“If only, that would be the dream.” He sighed at the question, shaking his head. “Best time of year. Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright.”

“What is fright season?”
“ HALLOWEEN. Only the most important holiday of the year and it’s fright season all October. ”

“Oh come on, mate, s’not so bad once you get used to it.” Robin tried to reassure the other. “Fright season? What’s that?”
“ Not bad ?! ” He exclaimed with irritation dripping from every word. “ Nobody even knows what fright season is ! I miss Halloween town... ” he trailed off in a somber tone.

“I’m sorry–” Audrey starts, sounding not at all sorry in the least, “You’re implying there’s…a ‘fun way’ to be terrible?”
Truth be told– it’s not so far outside the realm of possibility that Audrey can’t conceive of it ( especially considering she knows… well, the people that she knows ). All the same, she gives him a once over with a face that says, you’ve got to be kidding me.
“ What do you mean ?? Of course there is. Being terribly frightful is the best fun you can have ! ”
Now the boy was up on his feet, using WILD gestures to emphasize his point. Why could nobody around here see his way of fun? It wasn’t like his fun could even compare to anything Oogie could cook up if he was let loose.

“Ugh, boy. If I had a tart for every time someone complained around me today…”
Victoria, self-centered as she was, truly empathized with the young man. “What on Earth is fright season?”
“ Tart ? ” He asked, posing nothing but a clueless expression.
His eyes went wide at the question as a wicked grin suddenly appeared on his features. “ Halloween time ! The time to scare people. ”

“And why is it no longer?” Rapunzel asked, tilting her head to the side. “And… I do not really want blood red hair to be honest”
“You tell me. I woke up feeling alive again and it’s the worst I’ve ever felt.” The sudden assault on his senses had been overwhelming the first few days after he woke up in this strange place.

“Uh…. those colours don’t sound too fun” Rapunzel murmured, a little frown on her face. “And…. oozing red. is that even a colour?”
“ That’s the color of my hair ! Was... ” He trailed off, plucking at locks of his newly brown hair with distaste. “ Blood red might give you a better picture if you’re going to be picky. ”

“ i agree. ” he squatted down to be on his level, head turned a bit to look at him properly. “ y’know… we could always MAKE it terrible. we don’t haveta wait for something to make this place awful — the GOOD KIND. ” a mischievous grin played on harry’s face as he gave the suggestion.
“ do you mean that ?? ” he lifted his gaze. a sharp grin crossing his features as he stared into the eyes of the other boy. “ why wait when have a partner in crime. this will be better than kidnapping sandy claws. what kind of ideas do ya have ? ”

“NOT funny!” The girl frowned, jumping slightly. “Scaring is mean.”
“ No-- ” he chuckled. “ See, scaring is much fun. A racing heart and laughter is all that’s leftover. ”
sweetiism:
“No, no. Scaring’s bad. You do not want to scare anyone, that would frighten them and that would be rude.”
“What’re you talking about? Scaring is the best. Boo!”
“ It’s terrible here and not in the fun way, ” he grumbled, pulling his knees up to his chest as he continued to brood to himself on the ground. “ Not even FRIGHT season. ”
