by the time i’m 30 i want to be really good at baking and decorating cakes. i want to be able to bake my friends and boyfriends elaborate cakes for their birthdays etc

attempt #1: pistachio cardamom layer cake with rosewater buttercream icing. the icing didn’t turn out as stiff as i’d have liked but i think it’s good for a first try!

i still think about how during my psychotic break i went to two different first-episode psychosis clinics in two different countries and at both i was their first ever kabbalah guy and they were really hesitant to diagnose me bc of like, cultural sensitivity. meanwhile the rabbi my lover dragged me to see was immediately like “are you having a psychotic break?” and my family kept being like “only crazy people touch kabbalah”. but if i’d have been a jesus guy they’d have diagnosed me at the clinics immediately lol

the spiritual experiences i had during that time weren’t any less real because i was psychotic though… i think there are some aspects of god that psychosis can draw you nearer to. i’m kinda convinced that one function of jewish mysticism is to manage the kinds of human experiences which psychiatry now classifies as developmental trauma and psychosis. amongst other things.
