the mission was supposed to be easy — kill a demon.

genya was happy with just that. he likes doing things by himself. it's easier, and he doesn't need nobody else. that's what he says every damn day to himself.

but life isn't that easy.

before he could walk away, the crow told him that he was fighting with another slayer. that already pissed him off, he's always doing things alone. why do they want to pair him with somebody else now? that's so, so unfair. but, maybe the guy won't be so bad? maybe he'll get paired with a sane, skilled slayer?

... and there they were, him and that boar head, after the mission. genya didn't even got to kill the demon! the little pest recklessly killed it off without second thought! genya barely fought, like, at all!

but... that's fine. no, it's fine! it happened once, it won't happen again, right?

and, it's not like things could get any worse, right?

... that is, until he felt a few drops falling on his head. genya looks up, the more he stands there, the worse the rain gets. breath, genya, breath!... it's just a little rain—

then, a sudden and sharp sound was heard.

... where were they again, anyways? genya had no idea. and he doubts inosuke knows anything at all. they're... definitely lost.

genya's eye twiched. yes, it can definitely get worse.

but of course. everytime he eats a damn demon, this happens. craving for more blood, drooling, nails digging on his skin, ripping it off from his face. he's an uncontrollable beast.

and he's doing everything he can to not look for a human. last thing he wants is to kill an innocent person and get fired. or become forced to commit seppuku. or, no, worse, — not being able to see his big brother anymore.

so hurting himself like this until he bleeds, really fucking helps.

he just hopes nobody sees him like this.

The stupid crow did not tip him off on this one. Inosuke trusted only his instinct here, the telltale prickle of his skin, warning him of nearby danger.

The demon was right there, a pathetic heap on the ground, stained with the blood of its latest victim. Weird... there was no human corpse laying around. Nothing but the fading ashes of another demon, and this... thing?

Inosuke did not put his swords away. He may be an idiot, but he was no fool.

"What the fuck are you?" He questioned, daring to poke the other's shoulder with the flat side of a blade. "You're not a real demon, right?"

The feeling was different. This thing was dangerous, yes, but it wasn't a target. Killing this one wouldn't increase his rank. Inosuke knew that much, from the sensations alone - and from the uniform that this self-mutilating creature donned.

the injured demon made a sharp, hissing sound. who the hell was this wierd looking guy? and what's with the mask? of all things...

well, by the swords, he did acknowledge that it was another demon slayer. so he backs away slightly, and ended up leaning against the tree that was behind him. great, now he really can't escape. covering his mouth, genya looks away.

and he's so, so hungry.

— fuck off, — he scowled, eyes somehow less darker than before. — why do you care, anyways?

but, honestly, if it were another slayer, he would probably be dead by now. so... maybe he'll survive. if he doesn't accidentally kill him first, that is.

genya sighs as his hands make a rice ball. a simple, delicious food. something he'd grown to like after a while because of that annoying tanjiro guy… or as he puts it, his "friend"? yes, maybe they are friends now.
