Valentine’s Day 2015
She was the kind of girlfriend God gives you young, so you’ll know loss the rest of your life
This is How You Lose Her (Junot Diaz)

"I wasn’t trying to sell I was simply making a statement." he countered knowing what she was thinking. "Well you don’t make it easy to try and be nice to you sometimes. I love you but you’re very protective of yourself." Cam moved about the kitchen as the kettle whistled. Retreving cups from the cupboard her placed them on a tray along with the biscuits. "Some of us have to try and be young even if we are only 25. I’m usually as such have I been neglecting you this much?" he asked moving to look at her.
"Please, Cam, I've heard those simple statements too many times now." She said, shaking her head. "Maybe because I don't want people trying to get to know me more than necessary. Have you thought that maybe I have enough friends as it is?" She asked, picking up a grape of the fruit bowl and poping into her mouth before he put the tea and the biscuits. "You used milk, right?" She asked, dismissive, and she shrugged, biting a biscuit.

"You know if you met her and spent time with him I’m sure you’d love her Bree. She’s something special and I can’t explain it." he said looking back at her. For the most part Cam was private but she knew everything about him. They’d grown up together for the most part. "Well already done biscuits are not a good as fresh ones and well your mom is still one bird short of nest if she doesn’t want to know you. I am quite glad your sister reached out to you. I’m glad you’re getting to know her and your father likes her as well. Well I’m glad he’s still the same when it comes to her." he laughed pulling the tray from the oven.
"If you have to try to sell your girlfriend to me, buddy, chances are I won't." Bree frowned. "Besides, I hate most people. Alright, maybe not hate, but I dislike most of them and they dislike me. So..." She shrugged, not interested in dragging the matter further. It was not that she didn't like his girlfriend, she just didn't care. "I am not saying now, I meant when I was a child. And why do you still use that slang? Girl and Bird has the same amount of letters! Aren't you just a ball of gladness? It is a little irritating. Check out the biscuits, please."

"you do have an active social life but the amount of Camden in your life is sorely lacking and I do not like it one bit. Nope not all, not to mention my lack of you makes me saddened. I don’t have someone calling me out, I’ve missed you too much." Cam listened before opening his big mouth knowing he was likely to piss her off. "I mean do you want to try and know her now? I know she wasn’t the best and she left but since you have family…" he trailed off when he looked into her eyes. Setting the kettle on to boil he placed the biscuits on a tray sliding them in the oven. "Does your father know much or anything?"
Bree shrugged. It was true that if he didn't bother going, she probably wouldn't either. As much as she loved him, and he was always in her life. Bree was really good at staying alone, so she didn't make a habit of going after her friends. "Shouldn't your girlfriend do that?" She questioned, raising one eyebrow. "My mother? I── I don't know. I mean, it is pretty obvious she didn't want to know me... My sister, however, she is great. She told me she didn't know about me." She frowned, she was expecting the biscuits to be done already. "I thought you had brought all done. And he does. He is happy about my sister and doesn't speak about my mother, but to mutter in complain around the house."

"Well it’s among one of my best talents when it comes to you, someone has to be or you will never. You love me I don’t even want to listen to your nonsense." he smiled moving toward the kitchen and setting down the grocery bags. "Oh she’s here? Even better I’m excited to meet her!" He said shrugging off his jacket and moving to start the tea and biscuits.
"What will I never? Mind you that I have a very active social life now." She replied, narrowing her eyes. "She's been sleeping here for a few days, but she visit her mother── our mother, every day. I am not sure if she's up..." Bree said, taking a place in the kitchen. "There is not much to say. She is nice. I didn't have much contact with─ our mother."

Cam was knocking on her door rather loudly knowing she was home. “Okay so I have biscuits, tea, jam and that very special honey you like from that one market in that small village. Now please let me in, I need to hear more about your mom and family and everything else in your life. I’ve missed my friend. Come on Creme Bree Lay.”
"God Lord," she complained. Bree had plans of spending the day writing, but, of course, Camden had the perfect timing. "You do know how to be incredibly inappropriate, don't you?" She questioned as she opened the door and take a step to the side, letting him in. "Well, you must have woken up Bailey, so you might even get to know her, but now you go prep the food."

And just like that, she was gone. Lifeless but still warm in his arms as he broke down, screaming for help and being pushed out of the way as the tried to shockher poor weak heart back to life, but itwas all futile. Warren sank to the ground, his sobbing shaking his whole body as he watched his wife drift away from him. Sound left his ears, only the deafening sound of the beep drawing out as he stared into space.
He could faintly hear his voice being called, a hand shaking his shoulder trying to get him to come back to reality, but he could only look up silently and shake his head. “I…. Bree… My Bree…” he stuttered, his view still out of focus.
"Time of death: 10:56pm."
Darcy leaned against the wall, his head between his hands. He always knew he would have to bury his daughter, but no father should have to do that. The loud sob quickly turned into hiccups. The doctors left the room quietly.
"Warren──" Bailey held his shoulders. There was nothing she could say that would make him feel better. There was nothing that would make herself feel better. "I──" she gave up on saying anything or holding him. He would want to stay with the body and even though she had promised Bree she would take care of him, he needed that.

"Bree I love you please don’t go…" Warren moved to sit on the bed, holding his wife in his arms tighter than ever and begging her to first. There was a time when he told her that there was always hope, and for a while,it fel like he was right. They’d had a daughter when it seemed like it was impossible, she’d lived, loved, and done more than anyone ever thought, which is why he refused to believe it was her time. "I can’t remember my life before you,how will ever be happy?Bree…Bree? Bree stay with me please. We need a doctor in here!"he yelled, frantically shaking her." Bree? Bree!" he called, kissing her head as he held her close."Don’t go to sleep, Bree..Don’t go to sleep…"
They both knew it was useless to fight. Her prognostic was never good, but he made the life she lived worth of living. Bree had been happy. She smiled even though her lungs didn't seem to be absorbing enough oxygen, making her dizzy. She tried to squeeze his biceps gently, affirming that it was alright to let her go, but she didn't have enough strength. 'Till death do us part was not how they would end. The heart line started to beep faster before turning into a straight line.
"Code Blue, room 1102. Code Blue, room 1102."
Her father, who was waiting just outside the door, was the first one to run in. The tears had marked a line on his cheeks where they slid on. He was followed by Bailey and a parade of doctors and nurses walked next, pushing the crash car. "Sir, we need you to step back. Sir!"
Bailey was the one who approached Warren, putting her hands on his shoulders (her father couldn't even more). Bree had talked to all of them before and she was told to keep an eye on Warren and help with Annabel. "Warren?" she called, the eyes as red as everyone else's, but she needed to be stronger than them.

Cam: Hey you! I love you, creme bree lay. I just got out of this crazy meeting for the oscars and I want to see you and Warren before I have to do anything else. My timing is shit as always but it’s just a part of the Russell Charm. I’m sure your dad still says that about me at least he let’s Warren slide. Then again Warren didn’t test his last nerve like I did. But anyways, I’m coming to see you so you better be home.

Warren pressed his forehead to her hand and sobbed, his body shaking as he did. “You can’t leave me. Bree…what am I going to do without you? I need you,the world needs you… Your baby, our baby.she needs you,Bree.” he broke down at the recalling of their memories, his heart literally breaking as he watched her slip away from him slowly. “This can’t be it…You’re not.. you’re my everything. How am I supposed to raise our child without you? Bree please…” It made no sense asking her to fight it, but Warren had no other words. “I don’t regret it.”he choked out.”Meeting you… loving you..I’ve never met anyone who understood me the way you do.. I don’t’ think anyone ever will. Every moment with you was a dream for me Being your first.. marrying you.. Nothing will ever be able to replace those moments. Bree I’m going to love you for the rest of my life no matter what, please don’t leave me. I don’t want chapter, I don’t want anyone else..I love you,Bree Chadwick.”
She shook her head, trying to keep the tears away, even thought they stubbornly slid down her cheeks. "Please, don't say that. None of that, Warren. I need you to be happy for us, for what we had, for our daughter. I need you to live for her. For me. You have a whole life ahead of you. Don't let this be the end of it. I know you will. I will love you to the end and beyond, but you have to ──" she coughed, feeling the desire just to lay quietly creeping up on her. "You have to let someone love you. Let someone love you as much as I did." Bree closed her eyes, and her voice was not louder than a whisper. "And I will be with you, every step of the way, in your heart..."
