Lemme tell you, modeling isn’t easy. I felt very awkward and found myself doing the same poses. But it was a great way to step out of my comfort zone and what better way to do it then with your best friend.

Book of the month: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

I’m kind of sad that I finished this book (even though it took me about a year to finish) I’ve never read anything like this and it really opened my eyes to the many wonders of mother nature’s creations.

You read about three different interconnecting stories that introduce love, evolution/natural selection, agricultural farming, and so much more. I cannot begin to describe how much I feel in love with each character. The author brings so much life and emotions into each character, giving you a different perspective on living. Basically, after finishing this book, I felt like the human race has a much bigger purpose in life. Sure, we live to make money, have children, live in a nice house etc., but I think we have to really start caring for our environment. Living in harmony with all of the other beings, not just human beings. Hearing about different species rapidly going extinct or that our sea levels are drastically changing is almost scary. It may not seem like killing off one species will make a difference, but it does.

The extinction of one species creates a butterfly effect. We can't keep trying to control mother nature. I feel it's selfish and irresponsible on our part. Even just thinking about the farming industry and animal manufacturing. As a vegan/vegetarian, I believe the mass slaughter of animals for food is a waste of such precious life. We have basically gained manipulation and control of an animal's lifestyle. I am very much against animal cruelty and wished for it to be different. The characters (well most) in the novel show so unbelievable compassion and love for the wildlife. It's inspiring. I think all plants and animals serve a much greater purpose on this earth and deserve to live peacefully.  

So thank you, Barbara for the mini biology lessons and for giving me so many feels. I look forward to reading all her other books :)

planting the first seed.

It’s time that I start something new. I wish to share my thoughts and feelings out there for not only others to read but as a form of self-reflection. To watch my little garden grow and bloom into something I think is beautiful. This will be my online journal of some sort. And for anyone I know to come across this, you will be reading a lot of personal stuff..so be warned.
