“I love you,” she said softly as she moved her hand up to the back of his neck as she bit down on her lower lip. “We could watch Tiger King… I’ve seen so much about it…” She smiled at him. “We could read…” She leaned up and pressed her lips against his. “I can rub your shoulders.”

“I love you too, babe,” Brent said before chuckling softly to her words and smirking against her lips. He kissed her softly and slowly as his hands slid down her sides to her waist to press her closer to him. “Keep kissing me more and I might want you to rub something else,” he teased with a smirk.

Pippa smiled up at him, kissing him back when he kissed her, her hands moving to his wrists. “You are the best thing that’s ever happened to us.”

“It’s like unreal how in love I am with you and how much I love her as well,” Brent said honestly with a soft chuckle as he pulled her a little closer to him. “What do you want to do until bed tonight?”

Pippa laughed along with Bethany, shaking her head as she watched the man she loved dance along with her daughter. She talked to Bethany for a bit about her birthday before leaning down and pressing her lips against her forehead and letting her go to sleep. She moved down the stairs and over to the kitchen. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Hey…”

Brent finished up the dishes just in time he felt Pippa’s arms wrapping around him. “Hey back at ya, baby,” he said, turning in her arms to smile down at her. He took her face in his hands and leaned down to kiss her. “You and B are truly the best things that ever happened to me.”

Pippa let her eyes rest on him, letting a smile come along her lips as she watched him list off the books then do the goofy dance moves. “Oh God,” she playfully rolled her eyes. Bethany laughed. “Yeah, that one.”

“Alright, you asked for it,” Brent teased and shot Pippa a grin before putting the other books away. He started reading the book and doing all sorts of goofy dance moved during it to keep Bethany laughing and dancing along with him. Sure, she was awake and a bit hyper during all of this, but she would eventually get to sleep. After reading the book and giving her a kiss goodnight, Brent made his way out first so the two could have their alone time for a bit. He walked into the kitchen and started rinsing the dishes and putting them in the dishwasher.

Pippa sat down at the table with them and the three of them talked throughout dinner. She put the dishes in the sink, knowing her and Brent would come back downstairs to clean them after they tucked Bethany in. She made sure that Bethany brushed her teeth and on one side of Bethany is where she sat as she glanced over at Brent who was picking out a book. “Come on, Moore… We don’t have all night.” She teased.

Brent was in love with this life he had with Pippa and Bethany. Proposing to Pippa and eventually marrying her is going to make it even more perfect, but it was nothing short of anything right now. Looking at the book choices, he held a few in his hands. “Okay B, you have three choices,” he said as he turned towards them both. “There’s one about the zoo animals, a chapter from Because of Winn-Dixie and the one book that you like me doing goofy dance moves with,” he said before doing a goofy dance move with a grin.

Pippa moved to go put their plates on the table as she let a smile come along her lips. “Can I get a water?” She asked as she glanced at Bethany who got onto her chair and lifted her eyes up towards him. “I’ll take milk, thank you.”

“Of course,” Brent said to both of them as he moved to the fridge to get the milk out and then a glasses out for the two. He poured Pippa’s glass with water and poured milk in Bethany’s before walking over to set it down where they were sitting and he pressed a kiss to Bethany’s head as he did so. He just always felt so thankful for this life with them, he wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Pippa was in the middle of plating everything when he came back out, a smile came along her lips as she turned her head to look back at him. “I’m glad you like it. I thought chicken would be good tonight.” She watched him for a second, hearing Bethany’s feet patter against the kitchen floor.

“What do you want to drink, Bethany?” Brent asked as he looked down at the sweet young girl before him. She was growing up so fast and he loved watching her grow. “Do you want anything to drink, babe?” He asked as he opened up his beer and took a sip, walking beside her to press a kiss to the side of her head as his fingers brushed along her side.

“You’re right. She will be.” Pippa kissed him back wit ha smile on her lips as she moved back from him. “I got it. You go get comfortable.”

Brent smiled at her before turning around and headed to their bedroom. He got changed into sweats and a t-shirt and before heading into the kitchen, he made sure to stop by Bethany’s room to check in on her. “Dinner smells good, babe,” he said, walking into the kitchen and to the fridge to grab a beer.

Pippa put her wrists against the back of his neck, knowing her fingers were covered in onions. “I know. You were apart of her life longer than he has been.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek, inhaling as she nodded her head. “Right, this is what she wants.”

“We got this, everything will be fine and most importantly, she will be happy,” Brent said before turning his head to press a soft kiss to her lips. “Need any help with dinner before I go and change?”

“Ellie… and hard.” Adam admitted as he adjusted in his seat. “Yeah, it’s nice to see that change in you.” He looked over at him. “No shit?”

“I’m sorry to hear that. I’d offer to help but I don’t know how much help I’d be since I don’t have much experience with babies,” Brent said with a chuckle before nodding. “Yeah, it’s going to happen eventually. I have a few ideas in my head already. It’s scary to think about, but we’re already living together so it seems like the next step.”

Pippa tilted her head, making a face back at him. “You know what I meant.” She chuckled a little. “Yeah, I really do. I sing them in the shower.” She noticed the fall from his face, feeling the hurt that was being written all over his face. “I know you wanted to bond with her along those lines and she loves that you are here, believe me… but she just found out he’s her dad and just… wants that relationship.” She felt him rub at her shoulders as she closed her eyes, feeling his lips on her forehead. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Pip,” Brent said, giving her a small smile. “I understand, believe me, I do. It’s just going to be hard seeing her loving on him as well,” he said with a sigh before shrugging. “I’m glad we’re doing this though, especially because it’s what she wants.”

Pippa stood outside the aquarium where Bethany stood in front of her, impatiently waiting for Allan to pull up. Her hand moved to Brent’s hand, giving it a squeeze as she let her eyes rest on the car that pulled into the parking lot, Bethany beginning to jump up and down now. Once Allan came into light, a smile came along Pippa’s lips. She couldn’t help it, it was nice… the fact he was willing to come to hang out with them on their daughter’s birthday. “Hi.” Bethany ran towards him and hugged his leg, grabbing his hand. “Come on, come on”

Brent couldn’t stop chewing on the inside of his cheek, feeling nervous and a little upset that Allan was joining, but he had to think about the positive side first. Bethany wanted him there so he was going to be there and he knew that him and Pippa could handle it. Looking over at Pippa when she squeezed his hand, he leaned over to press a quick kiss on the side of her head before looking over to see Allan. He raised his hand up to give him a little wave and tried to smile the friendliest he could. “Hey, Allan. We’re glad you could make it.”

“Yeah, good ol’ mom dropped her off for Kota and me to raise.” Adam turned his head to look over at him. “Fuck, that’s cheesy.”

“Oh shit. How has that been? What’s her name?” Brent asked wondering as he looked at his friend and chuckled a bit. “Those two have made me grow up a lot now that I don’t care that I sound cheesy. Hell, I’m so cheesy that I’m eventually going to propose to Pippa.”

“Did I tell you we have a baby sister? Like baby baby…” Adam pressed his lips together, glancing at the beer. “Happier.”

“A baby baby, sister?” Brent asked in surprise, shaking his head. “No you didn’t tell me that,” he said before smiling softly and nodding. “You can thank Pippa and Bethany for that, man. They’ve changed my life and now I can’t picture my life without them.”

“Well, my work isn’t as exciting as yours.” Pippa smiled at him as she let her eyes rest on Brent when he told Bethany he couldn’t wait. “You know that’s the fifth time we’ve seen that movie this week.” She chuckled, a smile coming along her lips when he kissed her forehead. “Yeah… There’s one thing though.” She exhaled, glancing over to make sure Bethany wasn’t coming out. “She wants Allan to come.” She said, glancing over at Brent. “And I don’t think the three of us have really been in the same room area since…” She inhaled, not like to think about how Bethany ran off.

“I wouldn’t say it’s exciting sometimes,” Brent said making a face but smiled a second later to the better topic of watching Frozen 2 and Bethany’s birthday. “You gotta know the songs by heart now too,” he teased with a chuckle before feeling his smile fading to the mention of Allan. He looked away from Pippa, not wanting to feel hurt, but he automatically thought that Bethany was going to start to turn to him as a father figure instead of Brent. His eyes drifted back to Pippa’s and he raised his hands to rub her shoulders comfortingly. “If she wants Allan to come, then Allan can come. It’s going to be awkward for the three of us, but we can handle it,” he said not only to her but to himself as well. He leaned in to press another kiss on her forehead.

Pippa glanced at Bethany before looking back at him. “It was good. Boring.” She chuckled a little as she looked down at Bethany before nodding her head at his words. “Spaghetti with butter, tomato and onion sauce but if you would like to help… There’s something we have to talk about.” She crinkled up her nose in a cute way as she glanced at Bethany. “Go take your shower and put on your pajamas… Maybe we can watch a movie tonight on Disney Plus, okay?” Bethany jumped up. “Can it be Frozen 2?” She asked before running past them and towards the bathroom. She turned her head towards Brent. “Okay… I was thinking of changing a few of the surprises for tomorrow. What if we both took the day off and took her where she wants to go? She only turns nine once…”  

“I’m sorry it was boring, babe,” Brent said before raising his brow at her words and nodding, thinking about what she could be wanting to talk about. He grinning watching the exchange between Pippa and Bethany, falling more in love with how amazing of a mother Pippa was and how amazing Bethany turned out to be with so much shit going on in this town and during their life. “Oh, I can’t wait to sing all of the songs!” Brent exclaimed just to hear Bethany laugh as she ran to the bathroom to take a shower. He turned back to Pippa and grinned at her words, nodding immediately. “That sounds great to me, babe. I want her to have the best birthday, she deserves it and we’re going to make that happen,” he said before giving her a kiss on the forehead.
