Brett here! What kind of cake do you want for your wedding? Or any desserts that are not cake that you'd prefer. Micah's already texted me so you have a cake tasting sample plate when you're ready but I like to get input from either groom.

“Of course! Love and romance should always be treasured and I’ve got the tasty treats and the wedding expertise you need. I’ll tell you what I told Micah- you decide you want a mini golf course wedding with chili dogs and cake, I’m there. It’s your day and your romance at the end of it so do what feels right and good.”

Brett: Or are getting better.

Brett: When do you think you’ll be around again? You’re missed.

Seven: Things are getting better.

“Yeah, you and everyone else and yes- it can be. Because let’s face it- sex is easy. It’s everything else that’s hard. But without Beau- I wouldn’t have gone into the bakery business with my sister, I wouldn’t have quit cigarettes. Hell, I’d probably still be flipping people off while taking smoke breaks and I’d have no taste buds. You know how many chefs smoke themselves tasteless?” Brett shook his head. “As long as you and the dom have discussed everything, a good dom is worth their weight in gold. Sex or not. That’s my philosophy though- do with it what you want-” Brett said warmly.

“Nah, it’s not a pity party-” Brett chuckled and said correctively. “It’s being honest and I want you to be able to be honest with me. You don’t have to shoulder burdens alone. If you end up wanting a dom, I’ll take you to a couple I know and we can talk with them together. No biggie- offer’s open-” he said with open hands in a gesture of offering but then letting the thought go into the universe as it would.

Brett shook his head. “Well, I was an idiot and afraid or I’d probably be married to him. But- it all worked out-” he said and for a moment, there was a deep and intense sadness just to Brett’s gaze and then it passed. Barely a flicker. But it seemed to steal the breathe from Brett’s lungs for a second. “- he was still my best friend. Still is.”

Brett chuckled. “Depends on how much you’re willing to pay for girl scout cookies and how long you’re willing to wait for donuts-” he said with a thoughtful hum. “I mean, you can use Keebler Grasshoppers but it’s not quiiiite the same-”

“Yeah. Learn how to make ciabatta. The the tastiest dough to punch and easiest with the best learning curve. Plus, lots of good butter in that one-” he said as he popped the garlic bread down onto a trivet and found a knife in order to make slices that could either be eaten straight or topped with meatballs. “The trick is to take it out right just when you start to smell it. If not an instant before. The bottom cooks the crust a little in the heat transfer but there’s just this moment- and you know-” he said. “It’s like anything else. Would you like some naked garlic bread before the meatballs join the party?” Brett asked with a devilish grin.

Micah: How long in advance do I need to put in an order for a wedding cake?

Micah: Asking for a friend.

Brett: I bet he is and lucky you, he’s all yours! Try not to tear the tux off of him right in the middle of vows. It’s a more common thought than you think!

Brett: Just send me tux colors and we can go from there. That’ll help on the flowers front and I think I’ll just steer clear of marzipan in this case.

Brett: Just remember the day is for you. Everything else is immaterial and it wasn’t so long ago, it couldn’t even happen. So treasure it and if you end up just saying fuck it, let’s go to a mini golf course for a hole in one- I’ll cater with chili dogs and cake. Promise.

Brett: Still wouldn’t be the weirdest wedding I’ve catered. The UFO convention wedding was probably the weirdest but they were in love so good for them.

Brett: I won’t steer you wrong =)

Brett chuckled. “I get so many ice cream guesses but no. I can put it on ice cream pie, so it could be ice cream adjacent. It is chocolate though, for starters. At least the meatballs are.”

“Hmm.. My second guess would have been whipped cream, and my third guess would be some sort of dough.” Heikki mused, honestly amused by the plate of not quite spaghetti and meatballs.

“Such good guesses-” Brett said playfully. “But not quite there. While meringue and whipped creme can be stiff, you really can’t get a good noodle shape out of them. You’re getting colder-” he smirked, glad that others were really intrigued by what he was trying out and that people were willing to have fun with food in a way that felt whimsical and not so ordinary and dour.

“No,” Brett said to the customer. “I just couldn’t help myself. I know it looks like a plate of spaghetti and meatballs but it’s really not. I’m actually doing a whole line of imposter desserts as food this month. There’s been a whole trend of ice cream fried chicken and I’m so amused I couldn’t help myself. What do you think the spaghetti and meatballs actually is?”

Brett tilted his head as Nicky spoke. “That is one way to do it but I find there’s something really uniform about cake pops. Do you ever see really good meatballs that are all that uniform? Plus, if I can’t shape the balls by hand- what’s the point?” he said, maybe teasing a little. Balls were one of his favorite things after all.

“Mmm-” Brett purred, shaking his head. “I very rarely make things from fondant. There is some raspberry for acidity and color in the sauce but it’s mostly something else. You’re doing better than most though-” he said encouragingly.

“Yes-” Brett said, cooing a little bit as Jamie ruffled his hair and trying his best not to nuzzle the hand too much. “But this is edible. If something is supposed to look like something else- it’s at least gonna be delicious on my end. You know I don’t do anything halfway-” 

Brett turned a little, looking at Jamie. “If I didn’t have a boyfriend, I’d let you. Monogamy is mostly easy except for times when you tease me like this. I still want you to take some boudoir photos I can give to Elliot though. I know it’ll be hard to keep your hands off me, but you are the best at them-” he said, batting his eyelashes and giving Jamie puppy dog eyes.

“Would that icing on top of the hot cross buns be a stiff yet familiar white icing that is not frosting?” he asked innocently, wondering if Jamie was starting to decorate ass cheeks with cum instead of just breeding these days.

Brett shook his head a little. “Well, the balls themselves are a nice sweet semichocolate. The noodles however are a secret. Until you bite into them. Then you’ll know-” he said with a wink.

Brett: Well, you all work hard and deserve a nice break on prices. Plus, I’ve got to make out with a couple of beefcakes at your station over the years, and those are nice memories.

Brett: What if *I* was the stripper though? I do a pretty good “Happy Birthday, Mr. Fire Chief” Marilyn Monroe voice.

Brett: *rolls eyes a little* Okay. But when you end up with tuna fish and anchovy BLTs- you have only yourself to blame.

Brett: Yeah. Let’s do that. There’s a great bar with deep fried deviled eggs that are super nice.

Brett: Something to quell the sweet tooth? Lie and tell me you’re renewing your vows or something and I’ll totally give you a wedding cake sample pack.

Brett: Every dessert is a mystery! It may or may not be what you think it is!

“Mmm- pie’s a good guess. The right amount of cornstarch and you could probably do a dough,” Brett said mysteriously. “Though this color means it would have to be mincemeat and you’d probably smell raisins-” he noted. 

Brett smirked. “It is killing you that you won’t know until you bite in, isn’t it? Accept the mystery!” Brett said playfully.

“Oh no. There are some baking mysteries too good to just give up. I have to let you know this is so much fun for me. So much.”

I used to do yoga when I was trying to quit cigarettes a long time back. It’s been awhile- one of the hazards of business ownership is a lack of free time. But as long as it’s not one of those hot yogas, I could probably get into it.

What? No. I’d never want to hire someone to do my work. I don’t know what the point of owning a bakery would be if I wasn’t the one baking. Its what makes me happy. 6 am is a bit of a stretch. I have a break at 8:30 because most things are set up for breakfast but then lunch prep starts then, especially on bread bake days.

Ah, the life of a baker.

I mean, if I wanted hot yoga I’d just do yoga standing next to my ovens!

Brett barely quirked his brow but then gave Seven a smile. “Hey, I mean- you know you don’t have to have sex with a dom, right? I mean I totally did jump Beau’s bones pretty much the moment he snapped his fingers at me metaphorically but not everyone that goes to a dominatrix goes for the sex. A lot of what I learned from Beau went far beyond sex. That’s just something you make clear with your dom. Probably not in bed in the afterglow like I did though. But Beau and I were always just touchy feely like that.”

Talking about Beau so casually, as though he was a part of history more than a part of the present twinged at Brett but he didn’t want to bring that up. This moment wasn’t about him and he had to remind himself he’d decided to be a grownup. And Elliot made him happy. And Mason made Beau happy. So everyone was happy. More or less.

“It’s no girl scout cookie takeover, but it’ll do-” Brett said, being cheerful. “I guess you could make a girl scout cookie glaze for your donuts. With little bits of the cookie over the top though-” he said, thoughtfully designing the designer donuts in his mind.

Brett nodded. “Well, it was a lot of energy and for no particular good reason either. Not something easy to maintain- that anger. Glad on days when I feel that way again I can just punch some bread dough and move on.”

“That’s because passionfruit is really nice when made with care-” he chirped with a grin. “Garlic bread’s ready-” he said cheerfully the second before the room started to smell like roasted garlic bread in the best way.

Brett: I bet you’ll look fancy and cute in your tuxes. Then it’ll give me a lot to work with. I think the really big question for me because I prefer not to fondant is if you want flowers on your cake or if either of you are allergic to almonds.

Brett: I only say because I have lots of wedding catering experiences. It’s a fun day but exhausting if the couples I normally see are any indication. Also, get insoles for your shoes. You stand a lot.

Brett: I can make seven types of buttercream. It is what my baking degree was in, after all. Though not all are good on wedding cakes.

“Alright. So two orders of the spaghetti and meatballs? Any garlic bread cupcakes to go with that today?” he asked with a wink.

Are there any aspects of single life that you miss?

I mean, breakfast at 4 am while sweaty and glittery? But like there’s no rule I can’t do that now. 

So I guess not really? 

Oh! Randomly sending nudes. Now they’re not random and they’re only to one guy. I just hope I’m not losing muscle tone not twisting myself into new positions every other night.
