reminder: tracing to learn good, tracing and saying it's your art bad

if you want to figure out how to draw something it might help to trace its shapes and construct some guidelines so you can visualise it better. once you have shapes and guidelines, reference them when you draw again until you understand it enough to not need a reference.

credit the source of the art you're analysing by the way! if it's from another artist and not a well-known series/franchise, get permission from them first you're free to research/analyse mine if you want as long as there's proper credit

anyway here's the results of me figuring out the facial guidelines of a saiki k screenshot i looked up. i traced lines and shapes over the image and reconstructed them as can be seen in the other drawings.

again: don't just trace stuff and say you drew it yourself, that's plagiarism. if you do it, do it so you can get better at drawing from scratch. repeat: it's to improve your ability to draw, do not steal. DO NOT STEAL

splatoon oc sillycomix #1

(aka comics/silly doodle of my ocs that i either won't finish or just wanted to sketch out. and i thought were silly.)

featuring Stickers (17) (ve/ver) and Charlotte (17) (she/her)

(bit of stuff about the characters: Stickers is an artist who, as ver name implies, makes stickers. Charlotte is a wannabe popstar who idolises (obsesses over) the Squid Sisters to the point of copying their style.) (very detailed explanation of events in comic.) Stickers is in the process of drawing some sticker designs (on both sides of the paper) when Charlotte approaches ver and asks what ve's drawing. Stickers has some past beef with Charlotte so ve takes this opportunity to passive-aggressively mock her surface-level commentary on ver art, praising the fact she was able to make such an obvious comment about it. Ve then continues to talk with elaborate vocabulary and proudly shows off ver art, specifically stickers of the human-era character Rarity from MLP:FiM. It is then revealed by her reaction to Stickers's statement that Charlotte did not understand what Stickers told her, inadvertently proving she has a lack of reading comprehension. TLDR: stickers calls her an idiot and charlotte doesn't even realise ve's right

idk if i'm being paranoid or not, but the best thing i think i can do here is figure things out

first the original fanart i drew: i just drew them together impulsively the literal moment i saw the ending of the direct showing them getting married.

main question of this post: was it actually fine for me to draw them though? i need to know. (these thoughts stem mostly from the icky asf age gaps in the japanese direct, which is NOT fucking fine, why would they make the literal college student character develop a crush on an old ass man ewwwww) my dilemma is that i don't know if the localised one was ok either, because some people in a few youtube comments i've read across various videos have said hugh morris looks younger than winters (something along the lines of having a babyface) image for comparison so you can judge the claim:

(also pretty disappointed in myself for not realising what could be up between hugh and winters for like six days. the actual fuck is wrong with me)
