First review post since the hiatus will be “Two People” by Sideline Fire. This song was really... well, beautiful. Yes, beautiful, a word that I haven’t used in reviews before. I believe the guitar strums align gracefully with the vocals and the emotion of heartache can be felt with each word that is sung. I feel the pain that Sideline Fire brings, the classic feeling of getting extremely close to someone and then before you know it you’re just two strangers, just “Two People”. Sorry for the small hiatus everyone but now it’s back to reviewing new and awesome music. Things are a little difficult at the moment since it seems like there’s been a glitch when it comes to posting music from Soundcloud onto  Tumblr but that won’t stop me from feeding you with wavy tunes... that being said, stay tuned!

It’s snowing here in New York and there’s no better chance to search for new music than a snowy day. During times like these I like to sip some hot coco, stay in bed and listen to something mellow. Good thing I came across Che Ecru’s “Satisfied”. This tune will have you calling your significant other  twenty seconds in. The sex filled lyrics, the gentle Cardo instrumental and Ecru’s vocals go extremely well together. If you’ve been craving some baby making music then this is your fix.

I have to be honest here. I haven’t been that much into rock lately, not saying that there aren’t any cool bands out there but I just couldn’t find any new ones that caught my attention... that is until I came across Megosh’s “I Stole from the Dead”. What first caught my attention about this jam are the first fifteen seconds of it. You see, although I knew this was going to be a rock song, this one wasn’t starting out like most rock songs I’ve heard in the past. A cloudy, simplistic electro beat, followed by some two toned drumming introduce this track perfectly. Then, around the thirty second mark you hear a soft male voice that comforts you with some equally soft lyrics. Suddenly, a loud scream catches you by surprise to properly let you into the different rhythms that this band is able to capture all in one song. Do yourself a favor, even if you don’t listen to rock like that, listen to these guys and make sure to check out their album “APOSTASY” out now.

The days of Tory Lanez being considered an underground/indie artist are done. After dropping multiple projects in 2016, Lanez made it clear that he’s motivated to reach the top of the music chain. A couple hours into 2017 and he’s already showing even more promise. Last night the SWAVEY army captain dropped two projects, “The New Toronto 2″ and “ChixTape4″. I immediately gave both a listen. While both mixtapes are straight fire I preffered TNT2 because I felt like it really represented the Tory Lanez that burst into mainstream fame. I especially like the intro on the project, “Talk To Me Nice / Fargo Season” because of how musically in-depth the song is. Of course, Lanez  gives us his signature auto-tuned sound but in this jam he’s able to do it in so many different ways; wether it’s multi paced rapping or being able to create singing transitions when you least expect it. When I initially saw that the song was almost seven minutes long I worried that it would be too long, but I was actually able to enjoy every second of this jam. The instrumental and lyrics are very trap influenced showcase Lanez’ continuing hunger for more.

Christmas is over with and now it’s time to make that New Year’s Day playlist. The playlist that you’ll listen to while at your party or someone else’s party or even if you’re just at home eating a bag of Dorito’s, waiting for that ball to drop. I’d say the perfect way to start that playlist is by putting Roy Wood’s “Instinct” on it. In this jam, Woods is accompanied by MadeinTYO to discuss their own ways of courting someone. Woods is able to sing his way in through his diverse, multi-tonal voice while MadeinTYO is able to sing his shot in a smooth, chill manner. This is all over a basic, up tempo instrumental that fits both styles. Also on this track is a great catchy hook that’ll be stuck in you’re head immediately after your first listen of this jam. Do yourself a favor and start your New Year’s Day right with this tune. And don’t forget to check out Roy’s latest EP, Nocturnal.

Do you remember Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak? Some of my favorite songs of all time were on there, granted that at the time I first heard them I was still a teenager going through puberty. But of course that doesn’t change the fact that these were amazing songs. I came across Derek Pope’s “Pool” and I couldn’t help but compare it to my favorite Kanye songs like “Welcome to Heartbreak” and “Heartless”. Now, I know there’s a whole bunch of music out there that’s filled with auto tune but not many, since Kanye, have put me in my feelings like this song. The lyrics are pure poetry, so simple yet so beautiful. Same goes for the beat that goes along with it. If Pope keeps on making music like this, he’s bound to make it big time.

I don’t know why I didn't see this coming... GoldLink is ending the year with some heat, this time accompanied by Brent Faiyaz and Shy Glizzy. “Crew” seems like a wonderful DMV mashup. GoldLink serving high tempo bars that flow easily off the tongue, while Glizzy serves high energy lines over the nice bouncy instrumental. But the real highlight in this jam in my opinion is the hook. Faiyaz absolute kills it with his mellow, suave voice in a way that almost makes you forget he’s about to dub a fangirl. This song right here is going straight to my “🔥” playlist.

Jet Life has been dropping a tremendous amount of music this year and now you can add Corner Boy P’s The Art Of Finessin to the list. “So Long” happens to be the first song on the project and definitely my favorite one. A smooth, old school sampled beat supplied by Purp Dogg sets the tone for an all around smooth song. Fiend is able to sing a terrific chorus with his deep and crisp voice while P lays out raps that detail life as a Jet Lifer.

Skeme is setting up our mindset for 2017. “No Fake” off of the recent mixtape Paranoia is an anthem that we should start all our days with. In a world where we’re all surrounded by fake things, Skeme let’s us know “I don’t need no fake love or no fake friends..” and we should start thinking that way too. Not only did Skeme greatly execute a simple and catchy hook but also gave us bars over a bouncy beat provided by Narcos and Phenom Da Don.

A DJ Mustard beat and lovely vocals by Ella Mai is a nice combination. On “10,000 Hours” the British songstress speaks on being away from a significant other, something that I can only imagine must happen to a lot of artists when they go on tour and stuff. Great beat, great lyrics. It’s a simple song that’s perfect for any occasion. Make sure to check out Mai’s EP CHANGE as well.

Have you ever been in a situation where you’re kind of with someone because you find them attractive, but then that person starts revealing themselves to you and it’s more than you bargained for? Or even worse, you find someone you really like at the wrong period of time in your life and you know it wouldn’t work out now so you hope that maybe in the future your paths can cross again. Yeah, this song reminds me of both those things and I can thank Laurel for that. The song “Too Far” from her EP Park is a smooth blend of rock and pop; with semi-dark descriptive lyrics that help you picture a young relationship on the outs. I live for coming of age music like this.

Yes! A new Kid Cudi album is out and I cannot be more excited! For many that don’t know, Cudi is and always will be my favorite artist. Yes, I’ve stuck with him through all his musical phases. Yes, I’m aware that he is musically different from the Cudi that I fist got attached to but guess what? I don’t care. This album here is what I needed, literally. It’s been an extremely rough year for me and maybe a lot of you can relate and I have to say my first hear through the whole album was awesome. Cudi captured all my emotions and struggles in this project. The loneliness, the darkness, the feeling of failure, getting back on your feet, love, everything! I would post the whole album on here but I think you should first get an idea of what to expect from the whole thing. So plug your headphones in for my current favorite sound, “Swim in The Light” off of Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin’.

Chances are that you’ll most likely try to link up with bae this weekend or at least dream about having a bae. Whatever the case may be, make sure you add this song to your rotation when you’re trying to get the mood going. The sensual vibes that this sound gives off is scary. The combination of Daniel Caesar and Kali Uchis is exactly what you need to have you lip biting and back scratching in no time. Caesar’s singing is a combination of doo wop and classic r&b and Uchis adds a dreamy, feminine voice. The duo is dynamic, if you ask me.

I was in the mood for something really chill today. Us New Yorkers sometimes forget to do that, thank goodness for Jorja Smith. While her EP Project 11 is all around amazing, the last song on it ,“Imperfect Circle”, stands out to me the most. This soul filled R&B tune is nothing short of reminiscent to Eryka Badu’s ‘On & On’. Smith is able to voice soft tone lyrics but also able to break into a quick raps that further annunciate the dangerous circle of violence going on in our world today, in an amazing poetic fashion. But don’t just take my word for it, please give this beautiful song a listen if you’re craving some real shit.

Shout out to @juschill for putting me on to this new Post Malone album. She’s right, it is good. Listen, we’ve all been through rough break ups and I know you probably would turn to Drake in this scenario but seriously consider this song to add to your “💔” playlist. Malone effortlessly captures what it truly means to be completely devastated by a former partner. Quite honestly this jam almost brought me to tears. Especially when Malone sadly sings “...she told me that I’m not enough...”, need I say more?
