In this episode of Sessions with Smitty, my guest, Ronald Rucinski, and I will be discussing fighting in professional ice hockey and why it is an important part of the game. Everyone knows that there is fighting in hockey but not many understand it. We discuss the roles a fighter plays, as well as what would happen to the game if fighting was taken out. Another thing that we talk about is player safety, and how much it has improved over time. We do acknowledge the harm that fighting has caused to some former players, but believe fighting is trending in a better, safer direction.
