Well, if you’d get your stalking on a little faster, we’ll be able to know for sure. Please don’t word it like that ever. Well, I hope you’re right about that. Because it does actually hurt to think of him being with someone else right now. I don’t know…but it wasn’t a distraction. I still had some feelings for Harmony but by the time I hooked up with him, I was pretty much over her. What happened between us will always suck but I wasn’t using Kaden as a way to forget about it for a little bit. He was just…awesome to me and a good friend and I knew he liked me and I was attracted to him and I wanted to sleep with him. So, I don’t know what you’d call that but I do know I wasn’t using him like that.

I think I am. When you genuinely care about someone you wouldn't want to do anything that could hurt them, even if a part of you thinks it wouldn't matter. You said it yourself, he called you out on what you were doing so I think a part of him feels that you do like him. So that part will always cancel out any part of him thinking about using someone as a distraction. I don't know what you'd call that either, 'getting your freak on with someone who likes you?' I guess that's a name for it. But I still say you should go get him. Then neither of you have to deal with any hurt.

You act like that makes him some type of special, unicorn of a person. You’ve been telling me this whole time how we don’t know how he is when he’s angry but now you’re telling me that you don’t think he’d do anything like this? And how do you know if he tells her everything or not. For all we know, he’s been keeping everything hush hush around Maggie since he knows she’d tell you and you’d tell me. I wasn’t using him as a distraction.

He's some kind of unicorn. We don't know how he is when he's angry but deep down I don't think he'd do anything to truly hurt you and fucking some other girl whether he's aware of your feelings or not could possibly hurt you so I don't see him doing it. Because Maggie is his best friend and best friends see through shit their best friends do and say. Then what was he? Surely there was still some residual stuff over Harmony still going on with you when you guys started this thing.

You don’t know what. Anyone that says they’re fine with not being in a relationship when they actually have feelings is most likely lying. If it were up to him, he’d probably have us go on dates and do couple things. And even if that wasn’t the case, I’m not ready to tell him how I feel. You don’t know that, Brian. Some people do really shitty things when they’re hurting and if he did really like me as much as you say, he’s probably hurting a lot. So for all we know, he’s got a new girl to take his mind off things. I don’t think I’d even blame him, to be honest. Sex is a nice distraction from heart break.

Anyone that likes someone enough will take what they can get, I do know that. He's also not normal. He's a friendly giant, a jock, and a super nerd. He's all weird and shit so it's probably different for him. Trust me, I know what people do when they're hurting, I've done my fair share of being there for those people or simply watching it all go down. There are still the select few that don't use sex to distract them from it, he never took me for that kind of guy and you forget, I have Maggie. I don’t want to go get him, Brian. I don’t want to be in a relationship and I don’t care what he says, the way things were, we were heading in that direction. And yea, I’m jealous because I do like him and he’s hanging out with some chick. And it’s stupid to be jealous because for all I know, she’s just some old friend or co-worker or…classmate. But I don’t know and my mind is going right to her being a replacement and I’m just really fucking insecure about this shit and it sucks. And I don’t like talking about it because I feel stupid.

No one said you have to be in a relationship. You can be whatever the hell you want with him. If he likes you and he learns that you like him then it's all good, you don't have to be in a relationship. It doesn't have to be traditional. He never asked for a relationship, it was clear he just wanted you so what's the problem? Yeah, it's okay to be insecure about this shit, this shit does suck but shit happens, it's life. I don't think she's anything to him, he was way too in to you for him to just quickly have a replacement. It just doesn't happen like that. Took out some juice and poured herself a glass as she listened to Brian comment on how she does care. Mel put the juice back before leaning against the counter opposite of him, pursing her lips slightly.

Upon seeing her facial expression and hearing her question, he leaned forward while pushing the menu forward and out of the way. After a moment his eyes met hers as somewhat of a serious expression took over his features.

I don't get a kick out of this at all. I'm an asshole, I will push and push until I get out what's really going on in that head of yours. It's what I do. And when I'm done I'll give you advice on what you should do. I know you're jealous and you're not really good at hiding it so it's easier to just admit it to me because it's not like I'm gonna run all the way to San Diego to tell him. Exactly. And you don’t have to navigate around people in the aisles. Especially all the old people that take up all the space and you awkwardly have to move their cart yourself because they’re half deaf and haven’t heard you say excuse me the first four times.

Mel gave him a slight pout when he didn’t give up trying to figure out whether she saw the picture or not. But of course they both knew that she had seen it. Rolling her eyes a little, she turned away from him to get herself a drink out of the refrigerator.

I might have caught a glimpse of it while I was looking through my phone. But whatever…I don’t care. Have you decided on a place yet?

As she got herself a drink he looked through a few of the other menus, deciding to go with the local pizza place menu he was looking at first since they had more than just pizza.

Oh. We can go at night. Less people grocery shop and night and I prefer shopping when there are very few people in the store. Alright, let’s go. Just don’t take forever deciding or I’ll decide for you.

She led him down the stairs and into the kitchen, walking over to the drawer that held the oven mitts and take out menus, pulling the small stack out and handing them over to him. She wasn’t in a picky mood so she figured she’d just let him pick a place an go from there.

When he mentions the picture, she tries to play it cool, giving him a confused look.

His head shook at her reaction to his question, knowing damn well she was acting like she didn't know what he was talking about. As he looked through one of the menus for some nearby pizza place he glanced up at her.

You and I both know what picture I'm talking about. It features a certain Hercules like person and some pretty girl.

Uh…we’re going to have to order in. It’s my turn to go grocery shopping and…well…you’ve hung out with me all day so you know that all I’ve done is swim, sleep and smoke. But what do you want? I think we’ve got take out menus in the kitchen.

As she spoke, Mel started to get off the bed so that she could either head toward her wallet for her credit card or head to the kitchen to get the menus for Brian to look over.

Nice, if you want we can go grocery shopping tomorrow. Or late at night when we get bored and wanna hit up one of the twenty-four hour stores. Let's check out them take out menus first since I don't know what I'm in the mood for.

Dropping his phone on the bed, he slid off of it and headed with her out of the bedroom and down the stairs towards the kitchen. As he waited for her to take out the menus he leaned against the counter, watching her.

Mel had been messing around on her cell phone, playing games mostly but every now and then she’d look at one of her social media apps. At the present moment, she was scroll through Instagram, seeing what pictures her friends were posting lately. She paused though when she saw the newest update from Kaden, making a small face at it, trying to contain herself since she was pretty sure Brian would noticed if she rolled her eyes. After a moment, she put her phone down and looked over at her best friend.

I’m hungry.

It took a few moments but Brian finally noticed the small face she had made at her phone, knowing she must have seen it. His attention casually shifted back to his phone as he tapped on another app to check a few things when she started to speak. He figured he'd bring up the picture in a few minutes when she least expected him to bring it up.

Me too. Should we order something or go and raid the fridge and pantry?

Brian had been laying on the bed next to Mel as they vegged out and smoked a blunt. At one point he started to troll his phone and check out his friends on instagram when he noticed that Kaden had just posted another picture with the girl he had set off to find out about. Quickly scrolling past it on his screen he glanced over at Mel briefly while she was on her phone, waiting for he reaction to it.

Brian: Well he's smarter than I thought, I'll give him that. Well, I'll find out who it is and what she is to him.

Mel: And that's pretty much it.

Mel: That and him saying he thinks my feelings have changed which is why I'm ending it.

Mel: Also, he thinks I'm scared that he'll hurt me but he wouldn't do that.

Brian: So he basically called you out on it all then assured you that you wouldn't get hurt.

Mel: I honestly barely remember what I did tell you.

Brian: I was high and I remember that shit word for word. You said exactly this "There’s not much to know. He didn’t want it to end, I did. He tried to tell me that he was fine with everything and…that he just wanted me and shit. Then we kissed, he asked me to stay and I left. The end."
