I'm mad about things, so here's some BUGS
Also a bug I made but had to use a bad gif because tumblr doesn't do 2 videos in one post (wtf, btw?)
I'll post a separate video of my shiny bug because this gif is a disservice to its shiny glory

Garden progress. Waaaaaay behind schedule, but we're doing it anyway.
Bonus Virginia creeper tendrils. I love their weird, alien-looking sucker feets

Monarch butterflies rely on common milkweed as a food source for their larvae, so I try to keep an eye out for any growing in the Woods. A few times this spring I spotted what I thought was milkweed, only to find on closer inspection that it was a related but very different plant. As it turns out, the lesser known common dogbane is a really useful plant with some interesting properties.
I'm providing a link to this research paper I used for reference on phytoremediation. The process involves some really cool science and it's something I hope gets more attention and funding.
It happens every year! I will inevitably find myself playing a game of "Is This Actually Milkweed or Hemp Dogbane?"
It's pretty easy for me to ID at this stage, but a couple weeks ago I was really second-guessing my knowledge. Correct ID's below the cut!
