Wedding Sparklers vs. Regular Sparklers: The Differences
When most couples shop for sparklers for their wedding, it can be tough to understand how they’re different from the regular sparklers you find at any given fireworks store. After all, sparklers are sparklers to most people; so why can’t you just buy the first ones that you come across. Unfortunately, there are some key difference that make some sparklers appropriate for use at a wedding while others are not, and being able to identify those differences will help you when you’re shopping.
Some people make the mistake of thinking that the packaging is the only difference between the two types of sparklers and that it is all just marketing gimmicks. Life would be a lot easier if that were true, but unfortunately that’s just not the case. To be safe, you need to buy actual wedding sparklers which are chemically different than the other ones that you see on store shelves. Here’s what you need to know so you don’t make the mistake of buying regular sparklers be accident.
Sparkler Color
The most important factor when choosing sparklers to use at your wedding will be their color. The only color that actual wedding sparklers come in is gold because that is the natural color that the powder used to make them burns. When a sparkler burns, it is so hot that any toxins it would normally produce are torched as well. That means you don’t have to worry about breathing in the fumes or having copious amounts of smoke to contend with. If you buy sparklers of any other color, they add pigments which create toxins and smoke as they burn.
Handle Material
Sparklers come in two types of handle options; wooden or metal. Similar to adding color pigments, sparklers made with a wooden handle will create extra smoke which is less than ideal in a wedding setting. Actual wedding sparklers will always be made with metal handles, so don’t buy any type that is made with wood instead.
Packaging
Lastly, and probably the least important, is the packaging that the sparklers come in. Regular sparklers are packaged for the 4th of July and will come in boxes that are more patriotic and will stick out next to your wedding decorations. Keeping your wedding theme consistent is important to many brides, so this is what they usually notice first. Most reputable brands will be packaged in boxes that are much more suitable for weddings, and that can be an important aspect to many brides. However, some wedding sparklers will still come in ugly packaging, but you can always remove them from the box and decorate them with ribbons or sparkler tags to dress them up.
Though the packaging that your sparklers are sold in will be the first thing you notice, that is not the determining factor of what separates them from regular sparklers. Since many weddings are held indoors, the most important things to look for are the color that they burn and what the handles are made from. Knowing what it takes to make sparklers friendly for use at your wedding, it should be easy to see the differences between them and regular sparklers so you can make the right purchase.
Anti-ageing Tips for the Mother of the Bride
The big day has come and your little girl is getting married and you’re looking forward to seeing her walk down the aisle looking pretty as a picture, while you beam with pride. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t steal some of the spotlight and look amazing too! So you’ve got the perfect dress, the right shoes, and an appointment to get your hair done. But have you thought about how you can look and feel as fresh and youthful as well?
You will cherish this day for the rest of your life, and there is no doubt you will want to look your best in all of the pictures. Here we have provided some anti-ageing tips for all those mothers of the bride out there so they can shine on their daughter’s wedding day.

Preventative Daily Habits
Keeping healthy daily habits are necessary for obtaining a youthful image for the mother of the bride. Taking care of yourself daily will result in amazing transformations! So, look after yourself inside and out with some helpful preventative measures. A happy healthy body is a beautiful one. The better you look and feel, the more confidence you will carry yourself with every day and on the big day!
Protecting Your Skin From Damaging Sun Rays
Protecting your skin from UV rays can take years off of your look. UV rays can cause problems such as dark spots, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. While it is nice to have tan skin, also consider that harmful sun exposure can cause many more unwanted problems down the road. Researchers from L’Oreal Research and Innovation Center, Paris conducted a study where they found that “UV rays accounted for 80 percent of skin ageing, including wrinkles [and] that a two percent increase in skin damage ages a face by three years”.
Make sure to apply sunscreen daily, and especially make sure to reapply when you will be out in the sun for elongated amounts of time. It is recommended to apply SPF 30 in order to properly protect your skin. The easiest way to remember to apply your sunscreen daily is to get a moisturizer that includes SPF. Apply the moisturizer before putting on make up and you’re good to go!
Moisturize Every Day
Keeping your skin hydrated is one of the best ways to prevent it from ageing. When you moisturize your skin, it helps to promote elasticity, softness, and hydration. These aspects all work together for beautiful skin that keeps wrinkles to the minimum or at bay. The best way to moisturize is right after your shower, as it will absorb fully into the skin while it is still wet. Sometimes it is hard to remember to practice healthy habits, so keeping it part of your daily routine after a shower will help with that as well. A simple, non-fragranced lotion is the best option. However, make sure to also pay attention to the type that you are buying and that it is right for your skin.
Apply Retinol Cream
If you don’t want to pay for an expensive procedure, there’s the magical Retinol cream. Retinol is composed of Vitamin A, which can help the appearance of your skin in many ways. These can include smoothing the skin, reducing fine wrinkles, firming the surface, and improving uneven skin tone. Here, Elle has a list of 2016’s seven best anti-ageing retinol creams that you can check out for comparison to choose which is best for your skin.
Get a Brighter Smile
Having whiter teeth can really take the years off you, so get yourself an at home teeth whitening kit to really enhance that smile. You want to be beaming at your family and guests, and of course the photographer, without worrying about the color of your teeth.
Corrective Occasional or One Time Procedures
Unlike daily routines, there are also steps you can take once or occasionally in order to aid in anti-ageing. While daily healthy habits are preventative, these procedures instead are meant to remove problem areas that are already in existence.
Get A Facial Peel
A chemical facial peel is used to remove the top layer of the skin, which reveals the smoother, less wrinkled skin that lays underneath. These peels can be used on the face, neck, and hands. Patients usually only experience a small burning sensation for a short amount of time after the procedure. To learn more about why you should or shouldn’t choose a chemical peel, the possible risks of the procedure, the estimated cost, and some other expectations, visit The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Consider Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is another type of procedure that removes the top layer of ageing skin. This is done in a different manner than the chemical peel, and instead sands the skin with extra small crystals. This exfoliation can help to remove dark spots as well as dull and improve wrinkled skin. Microdermabrasion is less invasive than chemical peels, and takes a shorter amount of time to heal.
With any of the procedural options, make sure to get them done with plenty of time before the wedding! As with the rule for a new haircut, hair color, or tan, a week or two in advance for any facial procedure is the smartest choice. New procedures or big changes are never a good idea just before such a big day!
