she looks beautiful, and content in a way he’s not sure he’s ever seen before. she spoke so much about swimming in brigid, and now that she’s there, he feels lucky just to be able to witness it, let alone share in that moment. it almost feels like a dream he might wake up from at any moment. he takes his place next to her, hand in hand as he looks around the water, warm and clear. 

❛ i promised you i’d swim with you, and i intend to keep that promise. i’m not a strong swimmer, but you won’t have to worry about saving me. ❜

        Although he reminds her of his promise, his reassurances that this is what he wants to do, the Princess still remains hesitant. Swimming is not the easiest skill to learn, and it takes time to perfect it. But then maybe there was just a little worry inside that she could still lose him, even if it did seem rather silly to think so.

           ❝ If you have sureness.  ❞ She replies, giving his hand a gentle squeeze before taking a few steps further into the warm water, feeling the sand sink between her toes and the lapping waves now hitting her waist.  ❝ Come. Here you can be practising having your head just above the water.  ❞

            She is quick to demonstrate, bending her knees a little so her torso sinks into the water, stopping at her shoulders. He can take his time, there really is no rush.

While Petra does believe it is her duty to marry a Fodlan Noble, due to her Grandfather’s wishes, she still stands by her stance that she will only ever marry one that she loves. It’s only as she gets older that she sees the status of who she marries becoming less important, as nobility doesn’t define how well they would rule Brigid with her.

he thinks sometimes he’s dreaming, not able to believe he could be so happy. it felt like this future would never come; a future where he could walk in the sun with petra, hand in hand, without caring who saw. they didn’t have to worry about war, or bloodshed. that was not to say there weren’t difficulties in brigid, but at least they were together.

it seems like forever ago they had had a conversation about going swimming in brigid together, and now here they were. he’s never so much water at once before in his life, and he’s in awe of it.

he’s a little nervous, as his swimming skills had never been very strong (what reason did he have to learn?), but he takes her hand immediately, following her into the water with a smile.

♢           She takes his hand softly, entwining their fingers together as her gaze drifts back to the horizon. To think it had been so long since she’d set foot on the beaches outside of the place, to swim in the sea with the other children until the sun started to go down. But there was something that made it even better being here with him. 

             Her husband. She was always unsure that there would never be a day that she would get to say that out loud. The Brigid People were cautious at first, but many had started warming up to him. Her Grandfather, well that might take time but at least he couldn’t dispute her happiness.  

             ❝ I have not being finding a place that matches this in beauty.  ❞  Petra replies, pink orbs glancing back to him.  ❝ It is okay if you do not want to be going where there is of deepness, we can simply stay here, together.  ❞
