Broken world
dickinson is a good show but i’m going to stop watching if they don’t shut the fuck up with this lizzo/billie eilish shit every ten minutes
i think this speaks to my biggest issue with the trend of intentionally anachronistic period tv/film (see also: the great, the favourite, etc) wherein the anachronisms are being used as a crutch and a shorthand rather than a tool to achieve something. it’s like the creators of these works believe that the audience won’t be able to connect with the stories of people from another time without the use of internet lingo and pop music.

something fascinating about sgt. bitter-root's allegiance to the ncr and his disdain for the khans springing from his abusive upbringing while lucius is inventing new kinds of colonial stockholm syndrome seemingly for the sole reason that he believed that the legion was an advanced society.

the thing about people treating samira like she’s just robby’s victim is that a) it’s deeply infantilizing and b) it neglects the fact that samira IS robby, just 30 years younger.
especially with that last comment about trinity's "baggage"-- i fail to see how samira was being any less demeaning here than robby was to her in season 2
i really don't wanna be That Person but i just remembered that it actually takes trinity accepting the blame for samira's mistake for samira to deliver a slightly remorseful statement, and even then she still doesn't apologize.
actually i'm remembering that even robby, in the worst moments of his suicidality, still pulled samira aside to apologize to her for the "mommy issues" comments without needing to be incentivized for it.
wait hang on-- trinity is also being told by langdon that she doesn't belong in the ED, much more explicitly than robby ever did to samira. the only difference between the two is samira is the only one who took it to heart and actually believes it, because the reason robby implied it was due to repeated issues with her performance, while langdon was lashing out at trinity as an ego trip. and for some reason the audience keeps interpreting this as robby just being a dick to her?
also samira jumping down trinity's throat for not having good bedside manner as an r1, and then getting all whiny about being scolded for almost letting a patient die. lmfao.
