hey, just a reminder that there has been no major media coverage on the audios (that came out a week ago) in which amber heard admitted to abusing johnny depp by hitting him, severing his finger and throwing pots and pans at him and mocked him for being a “baby”, walking away from her violence and said no one would believe him as an abuse victim because he’s a man and she’s a “115-pound woman”.
it’s been a week. no major media outlets have covered the issue. the news outlets that have covered it are quick to defend amber saying it’s “her right as a victim to defend herself” and/or that it’s a mutually abusive relationship, discounting johnny as a victim just because he’s a man (just imagine if johnny admitted to those things mentioned above instead of amber, imagine the outrage) and/or suggesting that johnny’s fans are quick to defend him because of his cis-white-male privilege (fuck that, we all know women have the upper hand when it comes to incriminating men of domestic and sexual violence in this day and age).
twitter blue ticks are defending amber. i have seen people and news organisations come up with ridiculous theories saying that the audio is doctored and lacks context (she literally admitted to hitting him, no fucking context needed. hello??? the first audio is intended to be a therapy session and AMBER recorded it with both parties’ consent). i have seen them repeatedly talking about johnny’s “long history of domestic violence”, which, may i clarify, is non-existent. he had never been accused of domestic violence prior to this whole shitstorm, his exes have come to his defense saying he’s been nothing but kind, gentle, caring and protective to them. MEANWHILE, amber heard had been accused of AND ARRESTED FOR abusing her then-girlfriend tasya van ree. people also bring up the video which amber filmed right after johnny’s mother passed away and johnny lost millions of dollars while she was partying the previous night. you know, that video in which he yells and hits the furniture. people have been twisting its content saying he “hit her” or “threw a phone at her” and all other alternative, unreal versions. my point is, people online are spreading all kinds of inaccurate, distorted information and this is dangerous considering how many people online make up their minds after reading one tweet.
i am asking you to not be silent on this. PLEASE SPEAK UP. there has been no media coverage on this and johnny is receiving relatively little support in comparison to amber when she filed for domestic violence. i don’t believe in cancel culture but after seeing johnny and his family being harrassed and bullied, his name and reputation tarnished for years and him being fired from pirates of the caribbean, it’s only fair that amber heard bears the consequences of her actions, which are at the very least getting blacklisted by hollywood and losing her role in aquaman 2 and as an ACLU ambassador. this ABUSER is an american civil liberties union (ACLU) ambassador for women’s rights with a focus on gender-based violence and a representative of the #MeToo movement. how disrespectful and disgusting is that? a SERIAL ABUSER speaking for millions of domestic abuse victims having weaponised social movements for her own benefit.
