something ive noticed after being a hobby cosplayer for years is that in a lot of places the general consensus seems to be that wearing costumes in public is weird and/or socially unacceptable, but whenever I'm in costume in public while on the train to the con venue or having a photoshoot on location or something, people by and large fucking love my costume. they think it's so cool. kids think my costume rocks. their parents are impressed that I made it myself. random grandmas tell me my armor kicks ass. I was at a japanese garden once and barely got around to doing the photoshoot me and my homies came there to do because swathes of visitors who had never heard the word cosplay before were lining up to take a picture with me.

it's the same thing with adjacent hobbies like larp or reenactment or fursuiting, the general image of the hobby is that you're weird nerds (and probably also sex perverts) for playing dressup despite not being a child but when you're actually in costume the response from random normies is categorically positive. I inevitably get weird looks from the kind of people who think having a tattoo is an affront to god but they give me that look for just existing with blue hair and pronouns too and the people who actually talk to me always do because they wanted to tell me they love my costume. and the response that always gets me the most is when they say it looks fun but they would never dare to do the same. it's such a shame. why did wearing a silly little costume have to become an act of bravery.

Con Alt Delete 2022 was an absolute blast! Huge shoutout to the friends who let me hang out with them, and all the new friends i made! Here's pics of my cosplay from saturday + sunday!

SO excited to debut this years halloween costume. This costume was originally inspired by the Crow Busters tiktok by user marlonwebb on tiktok (looks like they're verified but idk who they are), but the design ended up taking on a lighter color palette than i originally planned! None of these photos are edited, save from the addition of a url lol. Planning on editing them later to add as a collage amongst progress pictures for a costuming portfolio! These are only a few favorites of MANY pictures lol. The first image is the original sketch! The url is different bc i used picsart, then realized it'd be easier to do mass edits of the same type in ibispaint lol

So fun to take these photos today! Heres some more details on the costume itself. I started it on friday the 29th (yes of october ☠️), and as per usual did not give myself any semblance of time management. There are some unfinished accessories sitting in my workspace, but overall i am EXTREMELY proud of myself for this project, and even more so that it was a time crunched three day build. I would absolutely do a few things differently if i did this a second time, but considering every piece im wearing aside from the flannel torso (ripped up an old shirt i never wore to turn into the top im pictured wearing) and the boots is handmade i'm pretty astonished at my own work. Definitely a Very Proud addition to the portfolio!

I had an hour to throw together a costume for work, and attempted a closet Marie (Aristocats). I even had Toulouse with me! Picked up his bow at a claires before i clocked in, hence the picture w/o his bow on. I couldn't find the wig I wanted so I just veiled (I'm pagan, it's fine that u can see my hair lol) but im SOBBING over the fact i couldn't find my tail-

Went to Anime Central last weekend! I went as persephone from hadestown and ranboo from the dreamsmp!! I even made a micheal marionette to bring around con :) met a very lovely group of dreamsmp cosplayers and got their instagrams, sounds like ill be joining them for anime midwest!!!
