Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it’s very important that you do it because nobody else will. Like when someone comes into your life and half of you says: “You’re nowhere near ready”. And the other half says: “Make her yours forever”.
Remember Me (2010)
“ Just the funniest. ” She cooed, lifting to her tippi toes to bring her face as close to his as she could; narrowing her eyes challengingly before dropping back to her regular height. Turning, Helen placed a foot on the bottom of the cart, turning to peer down the hallway before bringing her gaze back to him. A smirk was clear on her lips. “ No, that’s too weak … ” she laughed. “ How about this: we race down this hall, ditch the carts at the end there, where that fancy fountain is— then, if no one’s stopped us by then, we book it toward the kitchen.” She placed a hand on her hip before continuing. “ Loser has to grab the winner something nice from the kitchen— and has that blowjob to fulfill. ”
He laughed, throwing his head back before returning his gaze forward. Helen always had a knack for making his life more difficult, though this challenge was tipping in his favor. He was faster than her, he assumed he was considering he had to be for his archery, but he had a feeling that it would mean more to her if she won. “You better hope we don’t get kicked out or so help me.”Brock placed on foot on the cart with the other behind him ready to push him off. “Be prepared to grab me a good snack before you give me a stellar blowjob. You ready, pudding cup?”

A laugh bubbled in her chest. “ You’re just full of mistakes tonight, Barnes. –The only thing I’m preparing myself for is my victory. ” She sighed simply, shrugging a bit as she wrapped her hand around the steel of the bellhop cart’s handle. “ So, where’s our starting point? ” She paused and drew her gaze slyly back to his. “ We already know where finish line is. ”
With his best smirk aimed at her, he gave her a playful wink. His hands gripped his cart, almost revving the handle like a motorcyclist. “Oh haha, you’re funny,” he remarked with a sarcastic smile. Her words were teasing, but he had every intention of making her regret it. And this time, he didn’t care who won and who lost. “Just race me down the hall. It’s not too long of a distance and we won’t get into too much trouble. Good enough? Or did you want to raise the stakes?”
Just so we’re straight and you don’t get the wrong impression Don’t need a silly little overdue confession Just remember when you’re over at his house undressing He’s just another sucker who’s about to learn a lesson

“ Your first mistake was showing up. You’re so not ready for this, my friend. ”
“Your first mistake was agreeing to my wager. So get prepared to be blown away, or in your case, get prepared to blow.”
“Shh, Brock… Shh, I’ve got you.” Emery’s eyes closed tightly as Brock spoke of his ex, of what the nightmare had been about. These late night dances were always her fault, in the end, weren’t they? “Brock, she’s not dead. I know that your head makes it all so scary, makes you think things that aren’t real. That’s not your fault. She’s not dead, I promise.” Emery’s eyes remained closed as he carded his fingers through Brock’s hair, leaning into him a little bit more. It was the feeling of tears dropping onto his shirt that spurred Emery into action. He gently stroked his fingertips under Brock’s eyes, guiding his chin up so that Emery could look him in the eye. “I’ve got you, Brock,” he whispered. “I’ve got you. I’ve always got you. I promise you that.” Emery brushed his lips against Brock’s forehead, and the music played on in the background even if their feet were stuck to the ground, unmoving.
“Have you been taking your medication?” Emery murmured, his hands still gentle and warm on Brock’s cheeks. Carefully, Emery started to guide them into a dance, one slow step after the other, spinning around in the middle of their living room. Emery kept one hand on Brock’s jaw, the other falling to curl their fingers together. “I know it helped, there for a while. Three nightmares in a week is a lot, B. Do you think you need to go back to the doctor, talk to someone again?” Emery understood Brock, of course he did, and he would stand by him through anything, everything.
And Brock wanted to believe him, that Claire wasn’t dead and she was okay and safe. But his head kept telling him that Emery was lying, that he only wanted to hurt Brock. But fingers running through his hair meant safety; maybe Emery was telling the truth. Maybe he would keep Brock sane for tonight, maybe the nightmares would go away. There were words he wanted to say. Thank you, please, sorry, something that would force him to move his lips. His eyes began to sting from his tears just as he began to form a sight sniffle. He always hated crying, but he always found himself doing it. It was embarrassing to cry in front of Emery because Brock wanted to be the strong one. Brock wanted to be the brave one, the one that would hold Emery whenever the boy would cry for him at night. This never came true; it became the opposite of everything he wanted. So when he was forced to look Emery in the eye with a guided hand bringing his chin up, his eyes trembled instead of his knees. It was like watching the version of himself he wanted to be, but couldn’t muster up the strength to. He remained quiet so Emery’s voice could soothe him. Emery always knew what to say when his nightmares left him paralyzed.
As he felt them moving slowly in circles around the room, Brock tried to continue staring into Emery’s eyes, but it became hard to when he wanted to lie. No, he hadn’t been taking his medication. The medications made him feel inhuman, made him tired, made him less hungry. He felt like he wasn’t the same person, more like a transparent ghost that felt like his body was just one giant pill. It was his aunt that pushed him for the medication since his behavior was off the charts, and given his suicide attempt, she felt that he needed it. Brock swallowed hard, the lies being forced back down his throat, as his lips parted to whisper shakily, “Emery... Emery, I don’t want to take my meds anymore. I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy. I don’t want to see a doctor. The doctor made me feel stupid. Like I wasn’t human.”
The younger boy tended to sleep under a mountain of pillows and blankets, bundled up and protected from the outside world. Some people would probably complain about overheating, but Emery loved that delicious warmth, loved feeling as if he were wrapped up. At the sound of a soft voice, the pillows and blankets started to tremble, Emery slowly turning onto his side. His knees drew up to his chest. Once again, that all too-familiar voice reached him, and Emery let out a soft, sleepy moan, pushing himself up on his elbow. A pillow fell away from him, and the blankets slipped down as he sat up properly. His bare chest was exposed, skin warm and a little flushed. His brows were furrowed, trying to process what was happening. “Mm, Brock?” Voice rough from sleep, Emery scooted to the edge of the bed, curling his arm around Brock’s waist. Emery tilted his head back, his eyes gentle as they found his friend’s. “Mmkay. Lemme get my phone.” His stutter had improved drastically over the years, but sleep always made him looser. Emery stood, leaning against Brock a little before reaching for his phone, his sleep pants low on his hips.
“C’mon. Added more songs to the playlist.” Emery curled his hand around Brock’s, dragging him out of the bedroom. As soon as they were in the living room, Emery started the playlist, curling his arms around Brock’s shoulders and pressing their foreheads together.
Brock felt his chest tighten as he was pulled out of the bedroom. Nights like this were happening often, but he never got used to the feeling of drowning out of water. And Emery’s small movements made him more conscious, more aware of how slowly everything was moving. A dysphoric feeling always caught him off guard after a nightmare. His doctor said it was a side effect of the medication, but Brock hadn’t taken his meds in a little while. So he was stuck with the bad, bad thoughts as he clung to Emery, their foreheads connected with warm. Soft music played in the background, though it wasn’t like Brock was listening. “Emery...” his voice struggled to be heard. It was a soft whisper being held down by the lump forming in his throat. Oh God, he thought, here come the tears. “Emery, she was dead this time.” If he said anymore to the boy, he knew for sure he would burst. Tears already began to spill, falling down his cheeks as he moved his head away from Emery, only to place it against the boy’s chest. He felt so stupid for crying. Emery had seen him upset before, but he could never recall if Emery had seen him cry. They had a bond, these two, and Brock knew that him crying would only bring them together. Or that’s what he hoped as he sniffled loudly.
Emery’s warm skin provided Brock comfort, who could only return warmth through a thin t-shirt he borrowed from the same boy. It was like home to him. A familiar feeling of being accepted and loved was nice. It was nice considering he was crying about a nightmare where his ex was dead. But Emery understood him, he always did. “I’m... I’m sorry for getting emotional like this. It’s just the third nightmare this week with her. I want it to stop...”
“Emery,” Brock’s voice was low, quiet, almost afraid to break the silence. Although he knew he would eventually have to wake Emery, it felt nice to watch the boy sleep. The door closed quietly behind him as he tiptoed carefully across the floor. His phone read 2:36 AM before he left it in his room to find his home in Emery’s. It was common for this to happen, for Brock to wake up in a cold sweat and dazed state of mind. His heart was racing, like usual, and he knew he had a bad nightmare. Every night was a different story when he went to bed. Tonight’s show featured Claire and him finding her passed out on his bedroom floor. She wasn’t breathing and no one would answer his cries for help. And when he jolted awake, he wanted to scream for Emery, but he was afraid Emery wouldn’t hear him. “Emery, I can’t sleep.” Brock had met the edge of Emery’s bed, leaning over to shake the sleep boy lightly. There was only one remedy Brock needed; another late night slow dance would soothe his nerves enough to go back to sleep. “Emery.”
