this isnt directed @ anyone specifically but if youre not native, dont make native blood quantum jokes or police who is native or not based on their blood quantum. dont make jokes about white ppl racefaking as native.  dont make jokes about “1/4th cherokee” ppl.  dont say “youre not really native unless youre (insert blood quantum here)” or say whitepassing people arent native.  

these things are not your place to decide or joke about, even if you mean well.  i know racefaking and white people claiming to be native for funsies is a serious issue in the native community, but it is an intra-community one, and making jokes about ppl who are mixed and native or pretend to be does more harm than good if you are not native, since non-native people should not be allowed to decide which native people are legit or not.

It’s not white-washing.

Can we be real a second? Lets forget where these guys live and just look at their features. Do they look asian to you? Seriously if you knew nothing about them, would you assume they’re asian? The right answer is no.

When “Hollywood” casts occidental actors to play anime/manga characters that CLEARLY display occidental features, why do you lose your shit saying it’s ”white-washing”? Actually, casting an asian actor to play the character would be miscast. I’d go as far as saying it’s “asian-washing”.

If there’s someone you should be mad at is the creators of the anime/manga, who draw their characters like that and not how you think they should look like. Thankfully you’re not going to do that, because that would be really rude, and especially because they have the right to draw their characters however they like. But then, when the hollywood movie comes, don’t go whining about how it’s white-washing when in fact they’ve chosen an actor who looks more like the character than any other asian actor would. 

But if you still want to be upset about something, be upset about the fact they’re not speaking japanese.

I’m not the biggest Harry Potter fan but I have to give them credit for one thing, when time came for the movies they hired real life 11 year olds and stuck with them, there was no hiring older teenagers or 20 somethings to play kids, nope, they were kids.

Imagine other films had done that, like Percy Jackson for example, in the first book he’s 12 years old, but in the movie he’s played by Logan Lerman (who was 18 at the time)

um here’s a what a 12 year old Percy would have really looked like 

can we stop casting 20 and 30 year olds to play teenagers and 18 year olds to play middle schoolers? (both Annebeth and Glover were played by people in their 20s) kids deserve heroes as much (and maybe more) than any one, heroes who you know, look like them.
