Surfer: Year Thirteen
The thirteenth year fortunately didn't live up to the superstitious stereotype, even if it wasn't particularly great. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, with some extreme highs and quite a few lows. And more change than I'm probably comfortable with. The imbalance I introduced into my life a few years ago unfortunately persists. I need to put in some effort to make it work and quite frankly, due to circumstances completely outside of my control, I have been left a bit demotivated. A huge corporate entity being indebted to a small company shouldn't be a thing, and yet here we are. To make matters worse the months, even years, seem to pass by like they're hurrying to a finish line. They lose focus and merge into one smudgy image. I really need my balance back, because lately I've not been surfing on my board, I've just been holding on by force of habit. Fortunately, it's not all doom and gloom, my personal life is mostly fine, with a gust of wind upsetting the status quo, this time in a positive way. I also managed to achieve financial stability, and any setback was recouped through other means. Having a wide set of skills really pays off, even if I would like to one day not have to fall back on my on my other career this hard. That's it for this year, keep on surfin'!
Surfing along as the years fly by at speed!
“If the English physique has declined, this is no doubt partly due to the fact that the Great War carefully selected the million best men in England and slaughtered them, largely before they had had time to breed.”
George Orwell, The Road to Wigan Pier, 1937.
I’ve been accused of being cold, snobbish, distant. Those who know me well know that I’m nothing of the sort. If anything, the opposite is true. But is it too much to ask to want to protect your private life, your inner feelings?
- Grace Kelly

I know French summer breaks are long, but two years? Wonderful if you're back!
Surfer: Year Twelve
This is getting really old, really fast. At least the previous year was quite eventful and, what's even more important, fruitful. After a very rocky start I managed to change my trade. Somewhat. It's more like I have not two, but three jobs now and it's not going to change anytime soon. When I finally achieve some semblance of balance, I'll be happy(ish).
I also managed to finally get back to exercising. Muscle memory is almost magical as I was able to regain most of my muscle mass in a few short months. Right now I'm about 15 kilograms heavier than I was a year ago. And it's mostly lean mass too. I'm tall enough that it's not terribly noticeable, but my general well-being is certainly on the upswing.
Frankly, I probably could complain about this or that, however, I'm not in the mood. While looking for something interesting connected to my name, I found a rather tragic story, one of many I'm sure, but this one has a tenuous connection to my blog. Let it be the main contribution to my yearly sermon. Read it here.
Until the next year's communiqué.
These yearly updates are starting to come around very fast. Quite a number since I've been following.
