The importance of Darcy

MCU is VERY good at introducing female characters and discarding them as soon as they are deemed “no longer useful”. Jane Foster and Betty Ross are just one of a few examples of characters who don’t have any storyline, because MCU doesn’t see them as anything else than love interests - extensions to their male superhero counterparts. “You can’t be banged or kissed by our hero? Then your life is thereby unimportant”. They can have stories only when they directly relate to those heroes or none at all, because MCU doesn’t care about them and doesn’t see them as people with own goals and motivations outside the bubble world of their lovers. That’s also why the inclusion of Darcy in WandaVision was so important, because as you know she was never a love interest to any hero in the first place, so her role was even less important to the MCU and it abandoned her the moment Jane was no longer in the picture. Because of course Darcy is glued to Jane at the hip and cannot exist without her just like Jane cannot exist without Thor apparently. Her inclusion in WandaVision then says that Darcy has a life of her own in this big superhero universe and that her life and work is important enough to exist without male oversight of her superhero counterparts. Now we only need to get more of those in the future. More female characters who are treated as characters instead of the roles they play in the MCU.
