*/ chrissy quickly closed her notebook so that eddie wouldn’t see that her notes were comprised of scribbles that only half made sense, and various doodles of flowers. she didn’t honestly think that he would judge her or even care but she did have an image to upkeep. there was a pause as she went over the thought that crossed her mind which echoed in her mother’s voice. that was all it took for her to open the notebook once more and set it on the wall. her attention turned back to him.
watching as eddie nimbly swung up on the wall, chrissy quickly gave him a small bit of applause as the man got situated. “the universe can definitely be loud,” she agreed softly, quickly pushing some of her hair behind her ear. “so it’s definitely a good thing you listened to it.” blue eyes cut over to look at eddie before slowly looking to the ground. “uhm,” she began. she wasn’t sure how much she actually wanted to admit aloud. after all there was no business in telling eddie munson her life’s story. “uh, i just didn’t want to be home,” the blonde finally admitted with a sad smile before glancing sideways at him again. it was the truth.
Eddie recognized the tone in her voice. In the past, he’d been the one who left home as early as he could just to avoid his parents. Walking to the bus stop early, walking to school sometimes just to get his mind off shit. Maybe there was a lot more to Chrissy Cunningham than he or anyone else would expect.
He chuckled, thinking about how loud his universe was. Penny could be extraordinarily loud for a toddler. “No worries, I get it. Sometimes.. Away is better.” He reassured her, knocking his elbow into hers. He noted some people giving them odd looks, but thankfully there still weren’t too many people around. As much as he didn’t give a shit about what the future trainwrecks of Hawkins thought, he knew Chrissy probably did.
