Okay guys I'm working on an Ormund x reader fic where reader is his first wife's lady-in-waiting and she and Ormund begin an affair. His wife dies and as soon as mourning is up, Ormund marries reader. Reader will be morally questionable and does not believe that she has done anything wrong. I'm not sure when it will be done but I'm hoping to have it finished within the next few days since I'm off work and have more free time.

Here's the excerpt:

You had come to serve House Hightower as one of the ladies-in-waiting to Lord Ormund’s wife Elyn Ambrose. It was a great honor to be granted such an opportunity when you were just one of many daughters from House Graceford. You still remember the ache of your neck as you kept craning it upwards to look at the beacon for the very first time when you had arrived in Oldtown. Holyhall had suddenly felt very small at that moment.  You were often in Lady Elyn’s solar as was expected of your position. The Lady of Oldtown was not what you had expected. You imagined someone dour, sour, cold, and severe. Instead, Lady Elyn was kind, she laughed often, and remembered most people’s names, including even the stableboys’. Your position gained you an insight into her marriage. Their marriage was not a very affectionate one. There was some warmth but it was more out of duty and familiarity than true love. Elyn preferred her own chambers and Lord Ormund did not particularly look her way except for when he wished to bed her. But Elyn was often heavy with child, and was neglecting her wifely duties. Lord Ormund was lonely, that much you could tell. You felt bad for him. You were often in his presence as a lady to his wife. And that is when his attention began to linger on you. It did not scare you, it enticed you. Lady Elyn was a good woman, but goodness alone does not make a good wife, and you only gave him what he was already seeking. Love cannot be sinful. Had you lain with him only for pleasure, perhaps you should be ashamed. But you love him and he loves you. His and Lady Elyn’s marriage was not a happy one. You simply stepped into the space that was already open. Surely the Mother would have closed it had She wished you to make another choice. It is your House’s words after all. You are only working Her will.

By the time the final draft is written, this version will probably change a bit because currently it is unedited and I find it a little clunky.

I haven't written a fic in forever but I really want to pair Ormund with a Targ!reader that is similar to Aerion in believing she's a dragon stuck in a human form 😭 so I may write a fic for it or headcanons lol

Guys imagine Viserys and Aemma having another daughter after Rhaenyra. During a visit to the Red Keep as a teenager, Ormund meets her and declares to himself that he shall win her over by the end of his visit and make her his wife. He lowkey became obsessed with her. He was arrogant even then and was used to getting everything he wanted so surely she would be no different. BUT she ends up rejecting him kinda harshly because he was for real getting on her nerves with his arrogance, entitlement, and neediness.

Ormund's ego naturally cannot handle this and so he starts telling himself that her rejection of course had nothing to do with HIM so it has to be the savagery of her blood blinding her to what a great suitor he was. Her blood makes her unable to see reason. It's not a personal failing on his part if he tells himself she must just be a stupid cunt who's already corrupted because of who her family is. He tells himself he's still superior. He sneers to himself that she would have wanted him if he were her brother because she's a tainted girl just like the rest of her incestuous family. That she should have been thankful that he even looked her way. It's her loss, not his.

And so Ormund's intense hatred of Targaryens stems from the fact that he got rejected by Rhaenyra's sister when they were teenagers and he never got over his resentment ☺️

(I do like to imagine her and Ormund meeting again years later, perhaps they're both widowed, and for some reason now that she's older, Ormund's delulu freakish nature appeals to her 😭)

I don't see the logic in the writers erasing Ormund's children 😭 like the man obsessed with his own House, ambition, legacy, and who is the head of his House, just chooses to not marry and have children?? It makes no sense with his characterization in the show. I keep trying to enjoy House of the Dragon for what it is but they ruin it every few seconds 😩

I cannot remember if Ormund canonically has any siblings or not but that man gives such major only child vibes 😭 that man got everything he ever wanted which is why he's the way he is now. Even Gwayne's story of having to let Ormund win games lines up because growing up I had to do the same thing with my cousin who had no siblings because they would have a meltdown if they lost 😭 this man definitely grew up very spoiled, coddled, and praised as the beloved only child of Hobert and Lynesse lol.
