Okay so I've been lowkey obsessed with the Iron Islands and believe we need more self inserts and ocs from there 🤔
King Daeron II's reign was all about creating alliances through marriage and trying to create one with the Iron Islands to try and bring them into the fold would make sense.
like imagine a woman from House Farwynd, the weirdest, most isolated Ironborn house, being married into House Targaryen for example.
She has a fear and distrust of maesters and their "sorcery", believes they are working for the Storm God 😭
Claims she's going to dry out and perish at least once a week or more because she's been away from the sea for so long. She fears the Drowned God cannot see her or hear her since she's so far from him. Dislikes septons and septas, does not want them near her. Dislikes the Faith of the Seven in general. Will likely have a panic attack if she's ever forced into attending service in the Sept. She finally gets to visit a body of water and she almost drowns herself. She claims she was just trying to greet the Drowned God 😭 Likely has a tendency to walk around without shoes or stockings because she's used to walking barefoot along the shore at home. Has sex with her husband and she's like "you kept me from wilting away ☺️". She definitely tries to sleep out on the balcony when it's raining because it reminds her of home. Has a goal to catch sight of the Drowned God one day.
Like I just want the most strange, fearful, superstitious Ironborn girl ever to be paired with one of the akotsk men lol. The only thing is I can't decide which character. All of them would be kinda funny.
Maekar seems like a good option because it's also logical because at that point Maekar is just the 4th son who has lost his wife and already has 6 children so marrying him to a mad girl wouldn't matter that much. And them clashing would be funny to me.
But her with Daeron would be interesting because Daeron just goes with the flow. She lays dramatically on their bed claiming to be drying out and will turn to dust soon due to being away from the sea and Daeron is like "...would wine help?". She also acts as a weighted blanket to him because she will straddle him and lay across his chest and tell him stories about the seals and whales of her home. He drinks while she gossips to him about who she thinks is working for the Storm God and Daeron just agrees all like "Yes wife, that septon is definitely a Storm God spy. I’ll drink to that."
Aerion would be disastrous but intriguing because it's man who believes himself to be a dragon versus woman who believes she needs to live in the sea. They will somewhat bond over their dislike of the Faith of the Seven.
Heck, even Lyonel would be an option. Imagine him going on an adventure to the Iron Islands and he brings home with him the odd girl that charmed him during his visit 😭 he'll need to keep an eye on her around Shipbreaker Bay though... she'll either try to throw herself in to see the Drowned God or becomes afraid and tells Lyonel that the water is so violent and wild due to the Storm God. She clutches his sleeve, looks up at him with wide eyes, and tells him "the Storm God is at work here!" and might become distressed because she doesn't know how to banish him. She only knows a blood sacrifice might appease the Storm God but unfortunately Lyonel will not allow it 😞
I am intrigued by the idea of being Baelor's daughter and growing closer to Maekar after Ashford 👀👀
Year 209 is a rough year for House Targaryen and it certainly is a terrible one for the only daughter of Baelor.
Because not only is her father dead, but so are her brothers, and her grandfather. 4 deaths of those closest to her in less than a year. From seeing her father's crushed skull and not getting to say a proper goodbye to him to sitting by her brothers and grandfather's bedsides as they lay dying of sickness and slowly coming to the realization that they will not get better no matter how much she hopes and prays. A person can only take so much death and grief in such a short amount of time.
Naturally, she is a bit mad with grief. She becomes a recluse. Her only company is when Maekar comes and visits her, even if they sit in silence. She will never be the same again. Sometimes he demands her to eat something. Sometimes she lashes out at him cruelly because part of her does blame him. And Maekar takes it because he believes he deserves it.
When Maekar angrily takes back off to Summerhall after Aerys didn't make him his Hand, he took his niece with him of course. He couldn't possibly leave her alone in that den of snakes in King's Landing, especially not in her condition.
It is also why he ends up marrying her himself. It is his duty to be her protector now that her father and brothers are gone. It is his fault her father lives no longer. He feels the need to make it up to her. He couldn't possibly give her away to a stranger. He knows she will be most safe with him. Maekar already failed Baelor once. He will not fail him again.
As the months pass, things are relatively peaceful but quiet. She and Maekar find a comfort within each other's company. Sometimes they argue, sometimes she's irrational, but they always make up. She clings, he's cranky, but it works out nevertheless. He is the only thing left that feels permanent. Everyone else died. Everyone else left her.
Maekar definitely has to calm his niece down when she is angered upon hearing that Aelora has been made the heir of King Aerys after Aelor's death. She didn't know a girl being made Princess of Dragonstone was even an option. She feels passed over. She WAS passed over. She feels robbed. It should be her on the throne as the last living child of Baelor, not Uncle Aerys! Underneath all her rage is a daughter who misses her father and who wants the world to remember him properly through her. She is on the verge of doing something reckless. But it is Maekar who soothes her away from a fruitless and pointless fight. He feels her pain. After all, his own brother passed him over as Hand in favor of Bloodraven. And now here him and her are, both broken in Summerhall.
Some men will say I meant to kill my brother. The gods know it is a lie, but I will hear the whispers till the day I die.

The way i giggled🤭
basically what it says on the label, get an akotsk man assigned!
I was not expecting to get him at all 😭 of course the one meant for me is the one who just died 😩 RIP maybe in another life we'll be together 😞
Daniel, I was wondering if you could tell me everything there possibly is to know about that single earring that Lyonel wears. I can't imagine he got that at Storm's End.

a knight of the seven kingdoms (2026-)
The ragebaiter and the ragebaited
daeron’s voice softening when he tells dunk about the kind of person aerion used to be….like obviously he loves aemon and egg as best he can and has a soft spot the size of all seven kingdoms for daella and rhae, but aerion…aerion was his first baby. he was the first one to climb into daeron’s bed whenever his own room felt too big and lonely. the first one to hear about daeron’s nightmares dreams and rubbed his back whenever he woke up screaming in the middle of the night. who probably begged daeron every weekend to go fishing with him. who would tell daeron every single thing he learned about dragons that day, and then some. the last person who fully knew daeron before he started living at the bottom of his cups.
I wonder if this was the moment Lord Dondarrion decided to kick Rowan to the curb (possibly already pregnant) and she then went on to bag the hottest new apple crisp knight of the tourney
i know he had like one scene, but it genuinely pains me that valarr is just as articulate and soft-spoken as baelor was because it clearly means he played such an active role in his sons’ upbringings for years, teaching them that one need not raise their voice to be heard, that true authority lies in the way you hold yourself. valarr being in so much pain because he’s already buried two children, and now, his father as well, yet still finding it in his heart to accept dunk’s sympathies, useless as they may be. he would’ve been such a good king.
Ok, ok, but what if Lyonel initially disliked Dunk because his wife said something about Dunk being so tall and he took it as her being in awe of Dunk so he was jealous but became friend with Dunk (cause he's a cinnamon roll) and after he understood his wife wasn't admiring Dunk, she was just surprised as anyone else
It's funny you say this because for my original post I did actually write a segment similar to this, but I ended up not including it because it felt out of place. I will include it here, although it's not exactly what you had in mind but it does involve Lyonel's wife comparing his height to Dunk's :)
~~~~
A deep frown soon settled upon her face. She narrows her eyes at Dunk again.
“I need you and my husband to stand next to each other,” she murmured.
Lyonel softly lifts his wife on his lap, urging her to stand, while giddily waving Dunk forward. Dunk hesitantly follows him.
Lyonel would be the type to think he's open to sharing his wife with others. At first he's like "hells yeah marriage isn't tying me down!". He adores that his wife is so open and wants to experience pleasure with others with him. He lived a pretty hedonistic lifestyle before her after all. But then he and his wife bring another person into their bed and he starts feeling vaguely jealous...? He doesn't even recognize what he's feeling at first because he's never been a jealous man before over sharing a lover. But this isn't just any lover, this is his wife. The woman he loves and adores, the woman he chose to marry. So Lyonel ends up pulling her away from the other person to lavish attention and pleasure upon her himself. And then he and his wife proceed to be in their own little world together while the other person is ignored 😭
