currently mourning a tiny cat spider that lived in my window all winter. I think she's starved. I know this just happens in nature but I felt like I was responsible for her somehow and she survived some pretty bad cold snaps over the months so it's very sad. I wish I could have fed her.

I saw an argument for not voting (blue) in US elections as not wanting to condone or be complicit in a broken system. And, god, I hate purity politics. "Be in the world, not of the world" Christians I knew growing up weren't this finicky about worldly things that some people are about icky politics.

The Democrat party is not going to save the world. Biden is not going to save the world. But he and they are arguably and measurably better than Team Red.

By simple dint of being a US citizen, you don't get to opt out to keep your cloak clean from political muck. There's no purity here, only people. And your every action and inaction makes you complicit in this system.

So vote.

People matter more than the purity of your principles.
