How do you feel about the murders that happened here and why did you decide to stay once you found out?
Okay.. I have to be honest. The fact that people died here creeps me out, like, a lot. And don’t get me started on Jason. I know that since we’re on TV, I’m supposed to send my condolences to the families, or whatever, but can we just talk about how unsanitary this place probably is first? Brutal murders plus abandoned cabin plus reality show? One of these things is not like the other. Oh, and why I stayed? That damn contract. Otherwise, I would’ve been out of here as soon as I saw how filthy the welcome mat was.
If you look up ‘intense’ in a dictionary, it would be Brooke Langstone’s picture that popped up right next to it. From a young age, Brooke knew she was different than the other kids. While normal children were busy painting on the walls and making a mess of their toys, Brooke would busy herself cleaning up after them. Something about the mess made her cringe, and she couldn’t rest until everything was perfect again.
As she grew older, Brooke only got more and more ornery. Now, things didn’t just have to be clean, they had to be perfect. Brooke liked things in order, but it wasn’t often an order that made sense to anyone but her. When she was younger, it frustrated her that other people couldn’t see what she saw, but as she grew up, she became more at peace with the fact that not everyone was the same. Brooke had a decent life going, and when she graduated high school, she decided to attend a top university. In order to pay for her schooling, Brooke took a job as a cleaning lady for a law firm, meaning she worked some odd hours. She normally would come in either early in the morning, before business opened up, or late at night, after everyone had left. She liked to solitude of it all, and being paid to organize left her feeling useful and satisfied.
The one thing that Brooke didn’t have going for her was a solid group of friends. It seemed that every time someone got close to her, as soon as her odd habits began to shine through, they would run away screaming. She had been making more of an effort to appear normally, now in her second year of college. It was taking a toll on her to be so far from home and still not have anyone to open up to. So, when she met a seemingly very nice boy named Jace, she did her best to make herself seem as fun-loving and easy-going as she could. Every time she talked to Jace, Brooke could feel herself falling for the boy more and more, and she knew he was falling for her too.. But he wasn’t falling for the real version of herself. She so desperately wanted to keep her lie going, but she knew she couldn’t live like she was forever. So, one day, Brooke sat Jace down and told him the truth about herself. She showed him all of her weird little quirks and opened herself up to him in a way that she hadn’t done for anyone ever before. In response, Jace just shook his head, and his words still haunt her to this day.
"You know, if you had been upfront with me, I could have accepted all these things.. But you’ve been lying to me this whole time, and I don’t know if I can forgive a liar." What Jace said broke Brooke, and she never saw him again after that. She finished up her years in college in solitude, and gained a job as an accountant. Because of Jace, though, her life was changed forever. Now, Brooke is incapable of lying. Her OCD mixed with the hurt she felt from disappointing Jace has made it impossible for her. Although Brooke had a great job, she knew her life was missing something. She needed interaction with people. She needed to do something outside of her comfort zone, but what? When she heard a new MTV reality show was casting, she didn’t hesitate at all before signing up, not even asking what it was about. Although it was completely out of character for Brooke, she doesn’t regret doing it. She’s excited to try and make some more friends and get herself out there more.. At least for now.
+ observant, truthful, honest
- obsessive, judgmental, blunt
Brooke never knew her father, and while it doesn’t bother her too much, she is curious about him. She knows her mother got pregnant with her at a young age, and has also noticed that she and the husband of her mother’s best friend display very similar compulsive tendencies. Brooke is a smart girl, and through research has found out that OCD can be genetic. She has always had a hunch that the husband of her mother’s best friend is her father, but she’s always been too afraid to say anything.
