BACKGROUND

The Pierce family was well known in Ashford. They had a house on top of Sandy Cove and owned a large corporation that ran out of the industrial district of a neighboring area. Brooklyn grew up with the finest money had to offer, new clothes always, anything she could dream of. And most of all, parents that cared.

Most of the time

The Pierce's had standards for their kids. They loved them dearly but they were held to high expectations. There was room for error, but they must learn from their mistakes. They were raised differently than others who grew up with money, they were taught to be generous and kind.

Brooklyn was seventeen when she got into some of the worst trouble she would face. A party, one thrown in the very mansion she called home. Everyone from school came, even some older college kids as well. That's how drugs circled around the house. This posed to be the biggest scandal the Pierces would face... Underage party thrown on their property where a young girl would OD on drugs and die.

The girl being Brooklyn's best friend, McKenna Holt. It was Brooklyn's idea to experiment with the drugs, nether of them knowing what they were doing either. When Brooklyn's parents came home to find their home trashed and police tape everywhere, they nearly lost their minds.

Brooklyn lived the next few months in hell. She was grieving the loss of her friend and suffering from the consequences of her actions. Her parents looked at her and all Brooklyn felt was hate and disappointment. She was under lock down and extreme ridicule from her parents, let alone the entire town.

After a couple months, it drove Brooklyn to leave home on her own, with not a dime to her name. She was eighteen now and no one could stop her. And so she found herself on the doorstep of the playpen, making a living stripping down for men's approval.

After some time on the streets, she got herself a trailer at Windy hallow and started to live her life her way.

Several years had passed and she never mended a relationship with her family, but she was content with what she was doing. She was putting money away, making a savings and doing what she could to provide for herself. But one client in particular took a likeing to her, a liking that grew dangerous.

She started to receive flowers at her home and then letters. Soon she began to feel like she was being watched. The client continued to make her uncomfortable at work and she had him banned which only provoked him. Police reports did not do anything against his persuits and after a couple months of stalking that only grew more dangerous, one thing led to another and an incident occered that made her leave Ashford in her rear veiw. She took all the money she had saved and left town for good.

Or what she thought.

Now as the anniversary of the Ashford 5 nears, she heard reports of the posters and the town tension, Brooklyn decided to finally make her return, deeming it at least safe from the man who made her run.

Jason didn’t flinch when Brooklyn reached out for him, already half-gone with that stupid half-truth still hot on his tongue. Didn’t stumble or fight her on it either. He just turned back around, jaw tight and shoulders square, looking at her the way a man does when he’s trying not to make shit worse.

And damn did she make it hard. But if Jason was good for anything, it was being an anchor—solid, steady, unwavering. Something that might've passed for self-control if someone didn’t know him better. But it wasn't that.

Because the moment Brooklyn crashed into him, his hands that should have shaken her off—didn't. They just shot straight up and hovered, suspended, like he didn't trust what they’d do next if they got ahold of her. The familiar weight of her arms locking around his neck came next, followed by the press of her body against his. 

It was enough to shake his foundation, and part of him welcomed the ruin—relished it even—a fitting punishment for a guy like Jason. To want to give in to something so bad—to get so far as to hold it in his arms again—but know beyond a shadow of a doubt he’d never deserve it—this, her. That he wasn’t good enough for her to stick around for back then, and he still wasn't worth the trouble now. 

Each one of her "fuck you’s" confirmed it. That she was slipping through the cracks in his walls. Not in a way Jason saw coming. Because what he hadn't realized was that Brooklyn never needed to get past his guard—she was already there. Always had been. It was more like she was trying to claw her way out now—or at least that’s what it sounded like to Jason. Not anger, a plea. And it was easier for his ribcage to be a prison, than admit that no matter what he did, he couldn’t turn the inside of his chest into a place she wanted to call home—a place she wanted to stay. 

Only then did Jason lower his defenses, dropping them straight down to her waist. His pride fell along with it, calloused hands tightening around the small of her back. He didn't know long they stayed like that—Brooklyn cursing him against his chest, his jaw set against the top of her forehead, forcing her to feel the solid, unmoving reality of him for as long as she'd let him.

"I deserve that," Jason told her when he pulled back, his chin lowering to the side of her neck now like it still belonged there. His mouth hovering right next to her ear, breath ragged and hot. Not to let her in but to let her out. “Ya don’t want this shit."

A pause and then permission if that's what she needed, “G'head, move the fuck on.” Almost too quiet to hear in the crowded club. Like the words had to claw their way up and out of his mouth to be heard. Like saying them cost him something.

And they did—everything.

For once, Brooklyn felt like she could finally breath again. Her chest against his, the rhythmic rise and fall of their breath. It was like they were in synch, like she was reunited with her other half. If only it was that easy.

She let her one hand come up a little and tangle in his hair, a familar feel as she rolled a few strands between her finger tips. She wasn't sure what she was expecting him to do, it wasn't hug her back. Maybe deep down she thought he would push her off. Maybe she let herself think that just incase it did happen, it wouldn't hurt as much. But he didn't.

It was a moment and then another and then he dropped his hands to her waist, that feel of his fingers across the small of her back sent little jolts through her nervous system. She was home.

And she wasn't truly welcome.

But that was her doing. It was her fault. She ran. Rand from town and ran from him. And she regretted it every day since. At the time, they were newly broken up and shit was getting bad for her. But Brooklyn wasn't Jason's responsibility anymore. She couldn't burden him with her issues.

It wasn't his job to keep her safe. She had to learn and do it on her own and so she left. She bounced from town to town all the way down to New York City where she built a life, a hallow life. She had everything she ever wanted and yet she had nothing.

"No you don't" She whispered back to him. "You don't deserve it." He never did. He didn't deserve all the pain she put him through. He pulled away but they were still close, his breath still fanned on her neck as his words passed in her ear. Ya don't want this shit. And god was he wrong.

There was never a day that went by that she didn't want him. She pulled back a little further. They were face to face now but only a mere inch apart, their lips every so close.

"There is no moving on from you. There is only you." She said as her eyes looked back at the man she loved. The man she never stopped loving. There was a split moment, one that felt like the world stopped and time stood still, a moment she wondered if he would make a move. But she wasn't going to take any chances, not this time. Not when she knew he was fighting a battle between his head and his heart, between what he thinks he should be and what he refused to let himself feel.

And then she closed the gap, pressing her lips to his.

"How much for the private booth and dance, fine shite?" Jayce pulled out his wallet and started pulling out the dollar bills he had. "I want a dance, I want it in private and I want a lot of alcohol."

Brooklyn knew his type. It was the kind she worked with the most and had to learn not to take offense too. "$1200 for the private room and dance base price for an hour. For any extras it goes up from there. Might I suggest some of our finest bottle service?" Brooklyn spoke in a soft yet sultry tone, the very best for seducing the men in her line of work. She imagined she didn't need to put in much work, her body and lingerie set was doing most the talking.

"Wait, do you really think so?" Amara asked looking over her outfit in the mirror. Brooklyn and Mars had decided to spend the day at the mall together and Amara found herself in an outfit that was absolutely stunning, but definitely not her. When they first met she didn't think Brooklyn was serious when they were talking about makeovers but here they were. "I kinda feel like I look ridiculous."

"Of course I do! I mean look at you!" Brooklyn let her eyes slowly drag down the other, "Lickable. God Damn. You look stunning, Sexy, Hot. A true baddie." Brooklyn was already fond of this growing friendship, though Amara was a pleasant distraction from her current issues. "You might at first, but you just have to be confident. Command the attention you deserve."

Jason let out a slow breath, something coiling tight beneath the stillness he reflected on the surface. It was infuriating—all of it. The way Brooklyn thought she still knew him and could read him. How she could look at him like that now after everything. The way the club was dark as shit and the steady bass of some Rihanna tack was booming in the background—loud and unapologetic, but it might as well have been empty and silent like she was the only girl in the world.

Because even after all this time, Brooklyn still had a way of making all that noise, all that commotion fade into the background, even if just for a moment. Just one second while Jason was looking at her—really looking at her now. Her nerve. His pride. He saw it, felt it—hell, he’d loved it at one time. That fire, that spark—a fire bomb ready to blow.

But it had been years since they’d been those reckless kids—the ones who bickered and teased and swore promises to each other neither one of them could keep. Jason wasn’t that little shit who made damn sure he was hard to love anymore, and she wasn’t that girl who pressed kisses to the scars and faded ink on his skin telling him he was more than the violence in his blood. That he could be both a lover and a fighter.

They weren’t those people, yet there was still something left burning in the ashes, some never ending ember was stuck between Jason's ribs that tightened in his chest and took the wind out of him. The kind of shit that jabbed sideways and made it harder to keep the armor in place—something undone.

His jaw tightened like he had something to prove, stare holding, searching. Confidence. Sorrow. Exhaustion. The weight he’d been carrying since she left was pressing down on his shoulders now—guilt, regret, ego. All the shit that made people say things in the heat of the moment.

"I'm lookin'," Jason said, his voice low, steady, cutting straight through the club music that told to him to fuck his pride. He refused. "And it looks like I gotta get back to my date."

What was Brooklyn really doing right now? What did she expect from all of this? As she stood in front of him, she waiting for some sort of reaction, not realizing she was wanting his love back in return. She wanted him to look at her life she was his entire world, she wanted him to look at her the way she looked at him.

And even after all this time, the room still faded into silence as the world disappeared behind them. Because nothing else mattered when they were together. Not the beat of Rhianna, the pain in her feet from her heels or the bruises on his knuckles from some dust up he got into.

She looked at him, holding his eyes as he looked at her, there was something hard in his gaze, an unfamiliar look. And then he slapped her in the face.

Not physically. No. Never physically. But his words cut deep beneath her skin, forming a new type of scar she hadn't gotten from him before. She felt her heart crack a little as she realized she was clinging on to tightly to hope, hope that was slipping from her fingertips.

Her lips parted at his words and no matter how much practice she had at holding indifference, her face showed exactly how much those words just hurt her. Her eyebrows pitched down, her brown eyes widened and her head reared back an inch or two.

Brooklyn quickly pressed her lips together and rolled them back while the sting of his words started to fade. She couldn't tell if he had a date or was just saying that to hurt her, but she knew it would never be the ladder. She wasn't sure if that hurt more. Did he move on after all this time? Love someone else the way he used to love her?

Used to

She cast her eyes down, unable to handle the look of those frozen blue eyes, and she waved her hand off, telling him to go. She wasn't sure he had ever rendered her speechless before. But this remaindered her why she guarded her heart with a piece of steal, why she never let herself dance in the fields of hope.

And as he left her standing their with her wounded pride, that fire in her began to simmer. Not her usual red hot flames, but those blue ones that he brought out of her.

One moment. Two.

And it ignited. "Jason, Wait." She said as she took a step after him. She reached out and caught his warm, spinning him around. "Fuck you" She said as she crashed her body into his. Wrapping her arms up and around his neck, holding him so tightly. A hug that let go of three years of pain and longing. "Fuck you." She whispered again in his ear. Fuck you for making me feel this way, was what she wished she could say but all she could get out was another "Fuck you" with a shaky voice, though with how tightly she held him, anyone within ear shot would have known the words that left her lips weren't what she wanted to say at all.

She could walk away from him now if that's what he wanted. Walk right back out of his life. Because at least now there was a semi proper good bye.

"I guess I can add poor vision to your long list of shortcomings." She replied with a small smirk playing at her lips. "Because I was here first and I won't be going anywhere." She responded innocently, batting her lashes. Was she being petty? Yes. Did she care? No. This was a language Ginger was fluent in and only saved for special occasions. This being one of them. "Aww, well look at that. Someone finally grew a backbone. Little Brookie is actually attempting to stand up for herself. How endearing." Genevieve threw her head back and laughed. "You're really trying to compare yourself to me? I forgot how funny delusional people are. I'm sure even you're aware you were absent the day God was handing out fundamentals. No one does basic like Brooklyn."

Seeing someone much more interesting behind Brooklyn nod their head at her, Genevieve shot them a smile. There was a slight scrunch of her nose as she gave them a little wave. "But why am I surprised? I think we all know stupidity and desperation are scents you wear best." She retorted making eye contact with the other girl once again. Genevieve scoffed. "Bring it on, really?" There was a raise of her eyebrow. "Is that the movie you've been using to ghostwrite that tacky personality?"

"It don't matter how many short comings I have hun, my ass makes up for them all." She shrugged. "I'm aware you were here first, but I thought I made it clear I wasn't going anywhere." It was a bit of a double meaning to her words. She was here to stay in town and at this bar. "So it appears we may have a stalemate on our hands." She said as she tilted her head to the side. "Guess we just have to see who cracks first." And if there was one word to ever describe Brooklyn Olivia Cox, it was stubborn. "It's Brooklyn to you, bitch." Not many people got away with calling her Brookie. It was special, a name reserved for just a few and she hated when it was used to taunt her. It there was one way to raise a fire in her eyes, it was that. "There isn't anything basic about me, but of course since you are judging a book by a cover, I wouldn't expect you to know any better. Because again, You don't know a single god damn thing about me."

Brooklyn couldn't help but roll her eyes. "I really think you just like to hear your own voice at this point." She said with a shrug. "Going round and round with you is starting to lose its appeal babes." Brooklyn waved over the bartender again. "We are gonna need two more rounds, love." She said with her bright and charming smile. "So, wannabe barbie, what is it that you do?"

"No way. Absolutely not." She said shaking her head with a small laugh. "I'm the wrong person to talk to about fashion." Amara had her own cute little style, but she never gave herself the credit she deserved for the outfits she put together. They weren't showstopping or extravagant, but they were her. And she may not have always realized but they did compliment her pretty well. "Oh my God twins! I didn't really say much to my folks about me moving either. I planned everything out and then like one week before I was like 'heyyy guys.. I'm leaving!' I probably wouldn't do it again but-" She shrugged.

"Sorry I'm rambling. But you can add me to the list of people that are happy you're back. Hopefully we'll see each other around a lot more. I promise I don't talk this much when I'm sober."

"Baby, Please. I think you have great fashion, I mean you look like you came straight from my dreams tonight." She said as she left a flirty touch on the girls arm. It was friendly of course but the tipsey in Brooke also had her flirting. Brooklyn listened to her though, it seemed the two had a lot in common. In all reality, she could use some friends, seeing how she lost the sense of fsmily she once got from Jt and his crew.

"Don;t worry about it. I'm a yapper myself. There is nothing I love more than the sound of my own voice and besides, if we aren't talking what else would we do? You know besides ordering another drink of course."

eden was the last place ki-jung would have liked to be on a night like this, or,  to be honest,  on any other night.   they weren’t a party person,  much less a crowded-places person,  so being here,  surrounded by sweaty,  drunk people,  was the closest thing they’ve been to a nightmare in a while.   they pushed through it,  though,  because tonight they needed to make the last payment of their father’s debt,  and they didn’t want to wait a single second longer. they have just put the money on the counter and were making a beeline to the exit when a familiar voice reached their ears.   ki-jung turned around,  their head tilted to a side,  and a soft grin stretched their lips mildly at the sight of brooklyn.     “ hey… ”     they murmured,  too gentle to be heard above the piercing music.   they tried again,  louder this time.     “ it’s been—yeah,  it’s been a long time.   when—when did you come back ? ”     brooklyn and ki-jung have never been friends,  precisely,  but they didn’t dislike each other,  either.   at least,  the pierce offspring were never part of the group of people that mocked them because they smelled of fish,  and for ki-jung,  that was enough.

Brooklyn was never one of the 'mean girls.' Sure, she had an attitude problem only Jt knew how to fuck out of her, but she was neve routright mean to anyone who didn't provoke it out of her. Even when she was growing up, she knew she was privlidged to come from a family with money. They were caring and generous and taught her how to be exactly that. And even during her fall from grace, when she flipped the script and found herself living in a trailer park stripping for money, she still acted with the same humility and grace. It was also that fall from grace that showed her that people were shallow when they started to treat her differently.

"I got in this morning." She said with a bright smile. "I know, what a day to come back to town, am I right? It's been a bit crazy running into everyone again but it's been nice." She said with a small nod, "How have you been? Has life been treating you well?"

He sipped at the drink in his hand as he listened to her speak, raising an eyebrow slightly at her comment about how it wasn't easy to find a place to rent. "You know, you could have called me a lot sooner and I would have let you stay at my place until you got on your feet." Not that the offer wasn't still on the table for her. "You start tomorrow then. I'm here to help you, kid, don't be scared to ask me for anything"

"I know, I know." She said with an exhale, "I didn't want to be a burden, you know. A lot has changed in the past couple of years and I didn't want to just assume and shit." She offered him a small smile and gave him a quick hug. "Thank you thank you!" She said as she scrunched her nose. She wasn't scared to ask for help but it was something she struggled with, she hated having to rely on people, she was use to scraping by. "Now that i'm back, I promise to ask for anything I need. I appreciate you."

Jason moved—every step deliberate, with purpose. Shouldering his way through the crowded club, knuckles twitching, fingers aching, longing for a cigarette or to hit something—or both. But it was Brooklyn's touch that got to him first, that dug right under his skin like only she could, steadying him before he made it outside and through a back door he'd scoped out earlier. And shit, he hated it.

His muscles tensed when she grabbed hold of him, arm pulling back by just a fraction. Not from reflex or pain, but from how foreign it was. The shock of it—a long forgotten warmth. Like he didn’t know what to do with the contact anymore. It jabbed at him far worse than any punch he'd ever taken.

And so, at her request he listened. He waited. He stopped—quiet, cold, rigid. Because anything else would be admitting that after all this time Brooklyn still had some kind of hold over him, and she didn’t. No, Jason didn’t shake her off just yet, didn’t blow up or explode. He tightened—tightened every damn wall, every defense he had built up since she got the hell out of town and left. 

"Y'got some fuckin' nerve," He huffed out, his tone low, somehow both sharp and rough at the same time. Only then did he withdraw his arm completely, not about to make this shit into a bigger deal than it needed to be. When he finally turned around, his armor was bolted into place now, and Jason looked her straight in the eyes.

“I got nothin’ to say to ya, Brooklyn.” The pause that followed was heavy, weighted down with everything he was denying. Everything he wasn't saying, he couldn’t say, and never would. The stillness spoke for him now.

Brooklyn ran through every senario she could think of in her head, trying to mentally prepare herself for this interaction. To think about what she would say, to let him know she was sorry. That she missed him. But as those familiar blue eyes landed on her, every once of calmness she had gotten herself to feel washed away and replaced itself with anxiety.

She knew he was moving to escape, that he wanted no part of her, that the mere sight of her sent him into overdrive. She hated that she did that to him, that when he saw her there wasn't that ghost of a smirk in her face and those baby blues didn't soften. She hated that it was obvious he didn't miss her.

His muscled tensed under her finger tips. They were harder now, much more firm than what she remembered. He was always built. a mac daddy as she would tease him. In an instant, years of memories flooded her mind under her touch. All those happy days, the fake instagram posts, the play fighting, the teasing, the late night rides and every moment they shared in between.

Y'got some fuckin' nerve. Oh boy, did he know it. Finally, he freed his arm and turned. His eyes meeting hers. And she looked right back at him. Those deep blue eyes meeting her bown ones. Icy, cold, that exact look she feared. Butr she didn't look away. She held her head high. She refused to feel bad for ehat she did, no one could make her feel guilt for putting her well being first. She knew it hurt him, it nearly broke her too. But her murder would have hurt him far worse.

"Don't say anything." She replied with the slight raise of her brow. "Just look at me." They never really needed words. She could read him like a book, she knew every micromovement that man made. The smallest twitch of a lip, the faintest smirk, the way his eyes widened ever so slightly or how the blue of eyes eyes softened.

And her look spoke right back to him, the confidence of her chin, the sorrow in her brown eyes, the tiredness on her skin. She survived. She was alive. The fire behind her eyes, that told him she would not let this go. That She would not stop trying.

That she was back to stay.

Freddie is already at the bar with two drinks in his hand when the familiar face approaches him, causing him to nearly drop them both. “ holy fucking shit ! ” it’s yelled, but there’s a genuine smile ( mixed with some shock ) painted across his features. He puts the drinks down, liquid spilling on the bar as he does so “ fucking hell, Brooklyn, when did you decide to brace us with your presence ! ”

Brooklyn couldn't help but smile when she saw her Freddie. Her little bundle of sunshine. "Freddie!" She said brightly as she closed the space between them and took him in a hug. "I know I know, what the hell." She said with a laugh. "But um yeah, I just got back this morning."

"Maybe if I threw back a few more drinks and my closed right eye.. And then my left." She let out a sigh and rolled her eyes. "And now I know basic listening comprehension also isn't your thing. I never said you couldn't read, hun. But I doubt anyone would be shocked if that were the case." She shrugged her shoulders as if what she said next were obvious. "Mosquitos bother everyone, don't they? Not to worry though, I understand the obsession."

She glanced down at her nails and picked up her drink listening to Brooklyn go on and on. "You don't need to list out the stages of grief you cause to anyone who catches sight of you. If you're looking for a place to dump all of your feelings that no one gives a shit about, I'd suggest Facebook. Or maybe Twitter. I for one couldn't care less about how you feel or what you do, unless it involves hurting the people I care about. Then we have a problem. And trust me when I tell you, you do not want a problem with me." No one did. And they were smart to. No one did revenge like Genevieve Quinn. And if this girl was going to be causing trouble for her friends at Ashford, she was going to make sure she had the situation handled.

Brooklyn rolled her eyes, she wasn't going to waste her time going back and forth with someone so irrelevant. While this conversation was catching at first, someone to bring her fire out, she was growing rather bored. Genevieve proved to be a worthy opponent through and she would look forward to future banter between the two, because she knew damn well the next few months were going to be messy. "With you? Hunny please. You look like my second hand replacement, which honestly you should be proud of but I digress." She said as she picked up her new drink and brought it to her lips.

"If you don't want to hear me talk, why haven't you walked away yet." Brooklyn knew she was the one that came up to her, but she wasn't going to be the one to be inconvenienced by leaving. She wanted to be at the bar and this is where she would stay. Maybe part of it was trying to build some sort of repore, maybe show that she wouldn't be pushed around. She had no idea what the hell she was doing in the moment but damn sure there was some sort of psychological logic behind it. "I kinda want to have you as a problem, babes." She said with a bright smile. "You don't scare me hun, this little show of attitude and confidence is cute though, but just know I can chew you us and spit you out with out even breaking a nail." I mean, she dated Jason for years for gods sake. "So bring it on. I am here for a reason and I won't let some cheap ass imitation get in my way."

Giving compliments was something Amara was great at. Receiving them however was something she was still working on. "I don't know about better than you, but thanks." She never would've guessed that she would meet someone who was returning to town after all these years just like her, but she was thankful for it. It helped dial back some of the weirdness she had been feeling since she'd been back. She began to wonder how much Brooklyn knew about the 5, but that thought got pushed back down almost as quickly as it had come up.

"Were your parents not too happy about you leaving?" That's where they differed. She was coming back to her parents while Amara had left hers. Who weren't the happiest that she was here, but understood it was something their daughter needed to do. "I know what you mean. I'm sure everyone's really happy you're back." She wished she could say the same for herself. Unfortunately Mars still had a few loose ends she had to tie up since returning.

"Oh babes, please. You are stunning, of course better than me." She said with an assuring nod. "And trust me, I'm a lover of fashion, I know these things." Though Brooklyn knew she looked damn good in the number she put on tonight. And while this reunion back to town was bitter sweet, she had to show everyone she wasn't hurting.

"My parents and I don't get along to well." Maybe after all these years they could put the past behind them and move on. Part of the reason that hadn't happened yet was because Brooke couldn't forgive herself for what happened. Her own exile, her choice in it, was her way of punishing herself for the death of her best friend. "But no, they weren't happy I suppose. I didn't really tell them I was leaving, I just kinda did it. But yeah, I'm sure most people are." But not the one that mattered.

Jason was getting drinks for his date when it happened. When all the noise in the club died out and everything around him went sharp and silent. When his night took a turn and she stepped back into his line of sight after years of nothing—no call, no text, sidling up to Jason like no time had passed at all. His body betrayed him before his skull even had a fighting chance. Chest tightening, fingers flexing—the grip around his beer bottle suddenly far too tight. 

And for a second, just one goddamn second, Jason wasn’t even standing at the bar anymore. He was eighteen again seeing Brooklyn Pierce for the first time. Every inch that punk-ass kid who was drawn to the trouble—moth to a fucking flame. The kind that came wrapped up in a tight little dress and sunk claw marks deep into your skin even long after the wounds had scarred over. That young, dumb trouble that taught you shit, that you learned from.

And Jason, he had learned.

"Fuck this,” He was already moving, his usual armor not quite in place yet. The man who always stood his ground, who never backed down, went against every single one of his instincts. He walked away—he got the fuck out of there.

Brooklyn had been looking forward to seeing Jason again but knew it would hurt. She knew that man well, she knew he would not be happy to see her. Truth be told, leaving him behind broke her. They might have been going through a rough patch and a fresh break, but she needed him in her life and the past few years proved that. She had gotten a mix of welcomes so far, though it was notable Genevieve was not happy either. Regardless she was happy there were people in Jt's life that cared about his wellbeing.

She had been on the hunt for him ever since she stepped in the place and finally it happened. There was a break in the crowd and she could see right through to him. He was older now, bigger. His muscles more developed than last time and a few foreign marks she didn't recognize, likey new additions to his scar collection. And ass their eyes locked, seeing those magnificient blue eyes she so missed, the world stood still. She was brought back to some of the happiest days of her life, the days they spent together.

But the moment was fleeting as a scowl set hard on his face. And then he did something that surprised her. He walked away. Jason never walked away from anything. That's when she new she really hurt him all those years ago. But she wasn't one to let things go and she followed his trail until they were somewhere away from the crowd. "Jason, Wait." She said reaching out and grabbing his arm. The feel under her fingertips was so familiar, like she was home again. "Just stop."

"Oh shit, you're back back." Taylan knew that Brooklyn had plans to return home from her text messages about the club, but he didn't realize that the plan had already been set in place until he was standing there in the middle of Eden looking straight at her. "I thought this was going to be at least a couple weeks or something.." He pulled his phone out at the unread text he had missed from her, his sentence trailing off. "Well.. Is everything okay? Do you need to start at the club right away?"

Brooklyn gave a quick nod, "Yeah, I got back into town this morning." She said with a slow nod. "It wasn't easy finding a place to rent so last minute." She found herself back in that familar trailer park she spent so many years in. "Everything is alright, best it can be I guess. But um, yeah, as soon as possible would be nice." And needed. She kept a low profile when she left, stripping a few places but never stayed in one area for to long.

"Wait really?" Amara was genuinely surprised. Yes she loved the outfit but she didn't think she could ever see herself in it. It was the kind of dress that she would see while shopping but talk herself out of trying on. "I dunno if I'd ever be able to pull it off, but thanks." Either way, she appreciated the offer.

She chuckled. "No, not at all." She felt herself wanting to ask Brooklyn why she moved away, but with that came the chance that Amara would be asked the same. And she still didn't have her story completely straight. She reached over to shake Brooklyn's hand. "Nice to meet you." She responded before gently pulling back and stuffing both hands into her back pockets. "So, how's it feel to be back?"

"Yes of course!" She said with a nod, "Babe please. You could totally pull this off. That hot little body of yours would be so nice to look at in this number." She said as she pushed her hair behind her shoulder. "You would look stunning in this, probably better than I do." Maybe a distraction was all Brooke needed, or a friend.

"Nice to meet you too." She smiled softly, "It's alright. I am happy to be back, there are a lot of people I left behind that I missed a lot. I'm sure my parents will want to see me... which is unfortunate. But overall, It feels good ti be back home, the only home I've ever known."

"Uh huh." She nodded sarcastically. Genevieve quirked a brow. "You want me to lie?" Even G knew that admitting how attractive Brooklyn was would be far from a lie. However, that obviously wasn't something she was going to tell her. "Nice. What self help book did you get that line from? Or did we find it on the back of a greeting card. Is Dollar Tree having a sale?" It just kept coming with Genevieve. To the point where she didn't even bother to think anymore. Her words were just starting to pour out. "And you thought talking to me would be a good idea?" If she was being honest, Genevieve probably would've also approached Brooklyn if she'd seen her first. There was no way she'd be able to continue her night without knowing her her being here was permanent or if she was just visiting.

"Anyone could've guessed you'd be impressed by educational tidbits you learn in the eighth grade." She didn't let it show but Genevieve felt relieved to know that Brooklyn hadn't run into anyone yet. "You running after men while they run faster? You haven't changed at all, have you Brooks? Regardless, you've hit a new level of delusion if you think either of them would be happy to see you."

"I'm sure you wish you could lie, but we both know I'm hot as fuck." Brooklyn always relied on her confidence, even when she felt very insecure. If there os one thing being a stripper will do for you, it's boost your ego. "That's really cute." Brooklyn said with a shrug, "I thought I was incompenent and unable to read?" She said with a raise of her brow, "I'm merely saying what is true." She said simply. "honestly I don't really give a fuck if it was a good idea or not, you seem to be the one bothered by it. My life will go on as normal regardless of this interaction." And while she feigned her confidence with those string of words, she was trying to hide the slight look of hurt on her face but she kept it buried under a bright smile and sharp eyes.

"You are starting to bore me, Doll." She said simply as the bartender gave her another drink and she slammed it back. "I don't chase men nor have I ever." She didn't care to really. They all flocked to her and she paid them no attention, because she only had eyes for Jason, or at least back then she did. She hoped her return would give her the closure she needed to move on but part of her secretly hoped he might share the feeling of unfinished business. "I am aware it's unlikely." She said simply as she settled into her hip and looked around the club, "Jay will likely be mad, angry in fact. He won't know how to process what he is feeling and it will come out as anger. It will take him a few days for it to sink in fully. He may not be happy to see me but I have been counting down the days till I could see him again. And quite frankly, I'd rather he be mad than indifferent. That means he still cares."
