okAY so. i know i haven’t said A Thing over here about this, but i went and moved all my RP blogs to a hub, and mr. ping (kinda humorously considering he was my very first muse on tumblr) is the last to be moved over. so this is officially an archive! you can search up the new blog (under the same URL) if you want to, but i’m still in the process of creating pages and all :v when it’s done, i’ll make a post on the hub and here

so i’ve noticed some new kfp rp blogs scattered around! i’m not sure if i should continue to host my list of muse accounts here or if i should maybe move it to my shen blog thinking emoji

i know mr. ping’s blog here is like. idk. someone once sent an anon saying it was ‘iconic’ so. u know. That. but i do worry as time goes by and new fandom members arrive, etc. that this blog is gradually fading into obscurity despite that, so it may not be the Best one on which to host a somewhat updated list of all the rp blogs for the series around. are there any thoughts? also, if you’d prefer not to be on the list, pls let me know! i don’t mind either keeping someone off if they ask me to `~`

It’s called Woke Up New because there is that feeling when you wake up alone after many, many, many days of not waking up alone that you are a new- well, you’re the same old person, in a new shell that you don’t know how to navigate because it collapses and bursts into tears at random moments when you’re trying to move it around. And you get this separation from that and you sort of get these brief moments of lucidity where you can make the creature who is trying to move on with his or her life, you know, meld with the perfectly functional body that you know is there. But this is where our modern conditioning fools us; that it’s your body that’s telling you the truth and it’s the creature inside who’s really good at lying to itself.

i was going to leave with the thought of ‘imagine mr. ping finding baby po trapped in one of his shirts like a dachshund in a coat sleeve’ before realizing that even as a baby mr. ping’s shirts probably would have been Too Small

one personal. Rule i’ve always had regarding shen and mr. ping is that. while i went through a lot of trouble (kinda lmao) to create a pretty big biological family for mr. ping and also had him reference family members and old memories involving them, etc. and also fleshed out his parents a lot rip, with shen i do the opposite 

shen has no siblings, adopted or otherwise. he didn’t meet any of his grandparents before they passed away, and all he knows of them are what he’s read in scrolls about their achievements. maybe the occasional story from the soothsayer has slipped in, if she had any interactions with them, but they still feel to shen much like characters in a story. if he has any aunts, uncles, or cousins, he’s either never met them or met them with such infrequency that they’re practically strangers to him

i kinda liked this contrast between them bc shen obviously has Issues with his family (or. his parents, at least fjfiea), and i feel that to show his isolation from a Greater Family Group as a child, teen, etc. helps to hammer that home, i guess lmao

mr. ping, on the other hand– everything comes back to family for him, and i also wanted to sort of. Ground Him. give him roots, bc what ties him to the restaurant and the valley i feel runs fairly deep. he was raised in the same house/business his father was raised in. it’s where at least his grandparents lived and died. there’s just. a Lot of history there behind his character, and i always thought his connection to home and family would be Exemplified by. well. pretty much just filling it out
