**1973 Mazda Savanna (RX-3) Wagon** Count the parts of this car that would make a Rotary enthusiast completely lose their mind: 1. It's a 1970s Mazda rotary wagon. When most people ordered the coupe or sedan variants, the wagons are a rare bird. 2. It's got the more-rare-than-a-wagon-with-a-rotary _Rotary Wagon_ badge. 3. It's also got the RE-AP badge. 4. And it's got the rectangular RE-AP exhaust. The woodgrain inset between the taillights is pretty great, too.

**1973 Mitsubishi Galant Coupe** "Jenkins! Get in here!" Yes, boss? "Jenkins, is this the brochure cover for the new Galant?" It sure is. We spent _days_ waiting for that fog. "I'm sure. Jenkins, do you see anything in the photo that might be slightly out of place?" Is there a cow in the field behind? There was a broken gate and they kept getting in. "No, something a little closer to camera. Someone." Someone... Oh. That's the art director. "Yes. Why is he in the shot?" I'm not sure. For scale? I don't know a lot about the technical details of photography. "And what is he doing?" I think he's moisturising. "Has the client signed off on this?" Oh, yes. Two days ago. "A minuscule moisturising art director in the background of the cover of the new Galant brochure. It's the beginning of the end, Jenkins. **1977 BMW E23 7-series** Dear BMW's 1970s advertising director, I see what you're trying to say with the 7-series thrusting purposely to the future, zipping past the greatest engineering feat of the previous century which is determinedly rooted to the ground. It doesn't hurt that it's French. But the future is to the right, not the left. And it's up, not down. Read some [Lakoff](http://www.amazon.com/Metaphors-We-Live-George-Lakoff/dp/0226468011) for Pete's sake. And, unless they take time to parse the picture, all people will see is a German car in a French scene which is a little confusing. On the other hand, excellent work with the colour choice and steel-wheel specification chosen for the hero car. Yours Ben

**Alfa Romeo Alfasud 1.3** I have the feeling this is from the same era as the [World's Most Boring Alfetta Photo](http://browncar.tumblr.com/post/2518235323/1982-alfa-romeo-alfetta-youd-think-having-gone). Similar shade of paint; similar studio; similar lighting; similar poorly framed shot. It's rubbish as a publicity shot. So maybe it's not. Maybe this Alfasud and the Alfetta shot are from some sort of internal styling study? **1964 NSU TT** I love alternate universe cars and the NSU TT is like an alternate universe BMW 2002. Somewhere there's a universe where the most storied homologation racing saloon from the 80s is an upright Audi with the engine in the boot trunk. Though I think my favourite thing about that particular alternate universe is the fact that there, the Japanese equivalent of the TT, the Hino Contessa, was the dominant track weapon and the Datsun 1600/510 is a footnote. And then Mazda perfected the small capacity V8 that they stole from Daimler and put it in the RX series. Hey, it's my fantasy alternate universe.
