"In the words of Audre Lorde, "Revolution is not a one time event.â Baes of Brown is partnering with Brown Universityâs "To My Unborn Son Campaign" to raise awareness and protest of police brutality and general discrimination and injustice that people of color, specifically Black people, are subject to in this nation. Thus, Baes of Brown is proud and honored to present the launching of the ~Winter Break To My Unborn Child Photo Series~ In addition to the messages that the individuals send, we want to lift up the message that while all lives should matter, Black and Brown lives are worth less in the United States as evident since its founding dependent, on Black and Indigenous labor, dehumanization and sexual violence of People of Color. Although progress and solidarity have occurred in this nation, there is still work to be done. The reality is that we live in a nation where someoneâs Baes photo (if the media doesnât choose a criminalizing one) could very well be a photo on a sign or t-shirt God forbid. Share the photos in this series everywhere. They are a part of this work that will facilitate more changes, justice, and peace. Rest in power to those affected by this systems that oppress and marginalize. Our hope is that these images touch, inspire, and move people to heal and resist. This is the first photo in the series. Stay tuned for the rest.â - JoâNella Queen â15, âBaes of Brownâ (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Baes-of-Brown-University/800988213298065) Armani Madison â16, JoâNella Queen â15, Isaiah Edwards â17, Justice Gaines â16 | Brown University | âWhen I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.â â Audre Lorde
