I took you for the unapologetic type and here you are making resolutions you don’t intend to keep just like everyone else.
Oh, but I didn't make any. I'm fine being an asshole.
And I already look fine enough to where I don't have to eat healthy and shit. Don't tell me you got trapped in the bullshit, though?

Oh. Pfft, well, that one's easy to keep, at least until Valentine's Day. It's the holidays that get people with that one.
Last year my cousin got to the 15th of January.
Depending on the resolution, that could actually be good, though.

Hmm, I don’t know. My resolution was to not make one, so I feel pretty safe.

Clara stared for the briefest of moments before her eyes shot up at the actions of what was in the jar. “Okay. Yeah. That can’t be saved. It should just be put on a stove to cook till it dies. Seriously.” Not only had she never seen anything like that before but she had never really heard of certain were illnesses. Usually they went to their own kind for such things and didn’t often seek out elixirs as far as she knew. Unless her mother was delivering them elixirs. She didn’t know everything that happened sometimes.
Shrugging it off. “What did you put in it? Because some things should just not go together. And I think that is what you did. And depending on the illness depends on what you create. You can’t just through willy nilly together. Because that happens. Didn’t your mom teach you this stuff?” Clara crossed her arms over her chest as she stared at the jar. She wanted to take it not. Examine it, learn what created it and try to replicate it. She wanted to know if it was indeed alive or if it was just the gas with in its folds that made it move and react.
Lines of annoyance crossed Bryan's face as Clara spoke, not because he disliked her, but because she was right and he knew it. Anything that seemingly poked back when touched probably wasn't safe, although he wished to know why it didn't work.
"That's harsh," he muttered, withdrawing his hands and rubbing them on his pants before folding his arms. "Aren't you guys supposed to be like...helpful and stuff?" Always grumpy but rarely truly hostile, he didn't mean it as poorly as it came out.
"Is it the hops and the moss? It's the hobs and the moss, isn't it?" Bryan sighed. He watched Clara and stepped back, wondering what she was thinking. At her mom comment, his irritation morphed into full blown dark lines across his features.
"Would that I were that lucky, right?"

"No that’s how I treat the one that act like dicks on purpose." she bit out, a smirk appearing on her features. She moved closer to him in a gesture that was eerily reminiscent of the night of the gala, she couldn’t help but wonder how her physical proximity would be welcomed now.
"I mean, sure you’re pretty enough but that attitude really ruins it." she pretended to ponder over thas last sentence, as she gave him a thorough once over. She’d been on the receiving end of those looks countless times, the kind of looks that were meant to make women feel like pieces of meat so she refrained from making it too obvious.
"I just might but i’m not so sure you deserve one." She didn’t have the cards but she liked toying with him. Seeing how far she could get before he would bite back.
"Who said it's on purpose? Maybe it's just you. Perhaps I'm just a really nice guy to everyone else, y'know?" Bryan sniffed and swirled his coffee around for a moment. After a tentative sip, he returned to the conversation, ready to followup with what would have undoubtedley been something witty, only to find he'd been beaten to the punch.
"Well, you know, I was really going for the whole fifties kinda greaser vibe. Not your thing?" Her look was vaguely unnerving, he had to admit. Bryan had to try his best to return her look with only an eyebrow raise of his own as he took another sip at the coffee. Serviceable enough, though hardly could the same be said of the woman. She was very pretty indeed, though he had to admit the sentiment of poor attitudes was shared by him as well. Not that he had much room to talk, though.
"What, you're punishing me now? Have I been too bad?"
Though he wasn't quite as good at it as she was, two could easily play this game.
Clara glanced up from her book to the jar that was sitting before her now. Her eyes raised to the man for a moment before back at the jar. “Well I am looking at it. What is it exactly?” The sarcasm that had seeped in to her tone wasn’t what Clara had expected but she had been enjoying her reading.
Sighing she closed the book and tucked it under the shelf before pulling the jar to her and opened it, making a face as she looked at the film on top. “What did you try to make? This looks like a batch of slime mixed with a panna cotta. It is salvageable but i need to know what you tried to make so I can tell you how to fix it.”
Bryan couldn't help but roll his eyes slightly at the returned sarcasm. He liked people with a backbone, but when people gave him the same treatment he gave them, it was always somewhat irksome.
"Well, I was trying to make an elixir for some sort of were sickness, but I'd never even seen it before, so I kind of had to guess." He shifted slightly and sighed. Admitting he screwed up was hard not because he himself couldn't face the reality of the situation, but because he hated it when others knew it as well.
"I mean, everything seemed like it would fit together well, but, er...watch."
Bryan reached out to poke a finger at the top of the substance, at which it bubbled slightly and threatened to come out of the jar - Bryan quickly slammed the lid down and tightened it shit, coughing to cover up his blush of embarassment.
"Some nights just seem to drag on." Clara mumbled as she read the pages of the grimoire she had recently acquired. There was nothing else to do tonight in the shop while the latest batch of elixirs cooked. Instead she would absorb knowledge to get to her place in life.
"Hola?" Bryan entered, tone no less dry than usual. He hated having to ask for help, much less buy it, but he was truly out of options at this point. He needed a second opinion, and within his bag was an elixir of his own. Something about it seemed off, but he couldn't pinpoint what exactly.
Waltzing up to the counter, having announced his presence already, he placed the jar in front of the girl working there and raised an eyebrow. "I need a second look at this."
Flood the Ocean || Bryan & Amelia
Bryan really hated the cold; he couldn't stand the way it seemed to sink in between the layers of his clothes no matter how many shirts he wore, and he loathed the way he could tell just how unbearably chilly it was just by seeing how much his breath puffed up when he went outside. If it was Florida, the worst they'd get might be a slight chill. It was always nice in Florida, and he found himself struck by a sudden bout of homesickness. His lips turned downwards in a slight frown, his expression only amplified as he turned the corner and saw the sight in front of him.
In front of one of the businesses that had been outed as being owned by a supernatural was a large crowd. They were chanting something and seemed angry - Bryan rolled his eyes and muttered something about signs, and he initially moved to avoid the crowd. In his peripheral vision, though, he saw one of his patients arguing with someone. It looked like it was getting heated.
"Hey, hey, just let it go, they're being goddamn idiots, and - " Moving forward to break up the fight, Bryan tried to disentnagle the two men before he ended up with a repeat visit. Both ignored him, and the fight began in earnest; Bryan ended up with a shove to his chest, and he stumbled back, bumping into someone - someone he had spoken to, though her name escaped him at the moment.
"What the hell is going on here?" He asked, trying not to let the panic in his voice overtake everything as he watched the situation in front of them get worse and worse.

Anita looked up sharply from where she was wiping the counter to distract herself from the growing frustration she felt at having this man in her shop, doing every single thing he could think of to enrage her. If she had been a bolder and crueler woman, she’d have thrown the scalding hot coffee in his face and demanded he left the shop but instead she took off her apron and went to turn the sign on the shop’s door. She’d close a few minutes earlier, the other clients didn’t need to put up with her aggravated mood.
She came up to the blond and crossed her arms over her chest as she gave a petulant little head tilt towards his cup still resting on the counter. “Just drink the damn thing and try not to choke on it”, she told him, a sickeningly sweet smile accompanying the snarky one liner.
"Wow, is that how you treat paying customers?" He leaned forward, returning her sweet smile with one of his own. Bryan would leave soon if she didn't kick him out, which wasn't entirely unwarranted at this point. He dragged his finger around the rim of the lid, shrugging slightly. "I mean, if I were you, I'd consider the reviews. How would they act if they knew about that?"
Bryan took a sip of the coffee, faux-pondered it for a moment, and shrugged imperiously.
"Hey, do you got any of those punch-card things? Like buy-six-get-one-free? I mean, I drink a hella lot of coffee. I might just be in here quite often now."
That was a lie. He didn't even really like coffee that much. He wondered briefly what she had been doing at the ball, but they were past the point of casual conversation by now.

Anita snorted as the blond let out a snide comment about her mood and she smiled a real smile that time, she couldn’t deny arguing with him was rather invigorating. Or infuriating? Perhaps, she was confusing the two. She set the cup of coffee down in front of him and wiped her flour covered hand on her apron.
She adopted a faux air of consideration at his requests regarding the cupcakes before putting both hands on her hips, a smirk painted accross her features. “Hum let’s see we have several kinds here. There’s the “No way in hell!”, the “Hahaha NO” and my favourite among them the “Go to hell”.
"Anything else?", she asked. Annoyance was clear in her voice and she was already dreading the next provocating thing that was sure to come out of his mouth.
"Ah, right, I love my sweets with a side of scorn. Makes everything taste that much better." He shrugged, glancing over at the coffee girl. Seemed to be taking her sweet time. Bryan sighed in annoyance and turned his attention back to Anita. The own irritation in her tone was more than evident.
"Yeah, actually. You wouldn't be the Anita of the shop, would you? Cause, I mean, this place looks pretty ancient. Tell me, did you really get someone more than a century old to decorate this place?"
Dammit, he was running out of actual venom and resorting to petty insults that weren't even really true, though. His own frustration with himself showed in the lines of his face as he scowled slightly and leaned up against the counter, regardless raising an eyebrow at his companion in a manner that dared her to do more than just put up with him.

Anita wiped up some flour off her cheek, souvenir from the past hours spent baking pies after pies this morning. She smiled brightly at one of her regular customer, handing her the box of cupcakes she just ordered before movinb on to her next customer. She didn’t instantly recall the manly voice, instead noting the order down on her notepad and as she was ready to announce the price, a five dollars bill was slapped on her counter.
When she looked up it was to be greeted by the blond man she’d met at the gala. The unpleasant, rude and arrogant man if her memories served her. The bright smile she’d been putting on fell off her face immediately, to be replaced by a forced one as she nodded. Faux cheer coloured her voice as she called “Coming right up.” and turned to the coffee maker.
Usually she’d suggest to any new customer a pastry to accompany any beverages they ordered as she didn’t believe her coffee and teas to be special enough to come back to on the regular but she decided against it this time. She wasn’t especially eager to spend time with the man.
"I would say 'don't be so happy to see me,' but it doesn't work when you take it so literally. And preemptively." He rolled his eyes slightly at her smile. She didn't like him - he wasn't stupid, and he could easily tell. Not that Bryan had forgotten their encounter at the gala. He began tapping his foot - there was no one else in line, at least at the moment.
"You know what, uh? Those cupcakes sure looked good. You should tell me about them. All the types. Every single one."
Was it snide? Yes. Petty? Absolutely. But dammit if Bryan wasn't going to get at least a little enjoyment out of this conversation. He just had to make sure there wouldn't be any spit in his coffee when he got it, otherwise everything would be a-okay.
Really Don't Care || Bryan/Anita
It had been a bit of a rough night - a rogue werewolf had gotten beat up by a street gang and, subsequently, came to the clinic. At 3:43 am. Bryan remembered because before, he had been in a relatively nice, peaceful sleep, warm under his six blankets. The knock on the door had been a painful interruption. When Bryan had gone down to treat the were, he had almost refused - they could heal, right? But ever since the incident with the now-unfortunately-deceased mayor, he had felt some sort of weird connection to his fellow supernaturals. It wasn't strong, but it was there.
Regardless, he'd been up until nearly five, and now, at nearly eleven, he was still tired and vaguely bleary-eyed. It was natural, then, to wander into the first place that smelled like coffee. Warm and inviting, he almost wanted to fall asleep on the floor there, but...coffee first. Yes, coffee.
Bryan wandered up to the counter, pulling out a five-bill from his wallet and setting it on the counter as he spoke.
"I'll take the biggest regular coffee you got - just black. Make sure it's hot, too."
It was only when he looked up that he recognized the woman standing behind the counter. The woman from the party. The insufferably cheery kind of scary one.
Goddammit.
Little kids running around in dark clothes and pretending they have magical powers? Yeah, I was.
Mhm. There are a lot of us.
Oh. How unfortunate, then.
Ah. So, you're the bookshop people, yeah? You know if I could, like...ask for something specific? Don't know where else to look.
