Art Gallery Showing!

Happy holidays everyone!

I am participating in the 'The ‘99 Pieces of ART on the Wall’ shared artist exhibit at the Cre8ery gallery & studio . Opening night is Friday January 5th, 7pm to 10pm. The show runs until January 16th, 2018.

I will have two pieces showing; ‘Spring Melt’ and ‘Decay’ authentically toned, black and white silver gelatine prints - all from old school film negatives in the darkroom!

Come out for a break after New Years to visit the gallery. I am lucky to participate with many other Winnipeg artists. There are an eclectic mix of art mediums/media/formats to see.

The Cyanotype process is a beautiful process that is identified by the deep blue monochrome print.  This is a short video showing a part of the process for an upcoming showing at the Cre8ery Studio & Gallery in Winnipeg.  These will be available to purchase February 10 to March 17, 2018.

Photo Processes!

Well I am on a good cyanotype roll lately. Five years ago I set out to learn a new photo process every year.

So far I have kept up! To date ... darkroom silver gelatine prints, cyanotypes, van dyke brown and photo transfers.

I still have a month or so to work through a few Arabic Gum prints to make it a clean 5 years in a row!

Time flies! Processes that remain are getting a little more difficult, however in some ways even more awesome with the look each process brings 😎.

Salt prints, albumen prints, carbon prints, plalladium/platinum prints and wet plate (tintype/ambrotype) to name a few more!

Let’s see how far I can get in 2018! 😊🎨

SP-445 Developing Tank

Super excited that I now have a 4x5 film developing tank - an SP-445! =))  This will make developing 4x5 film so much easier and in the light I might add!  

Though, I suppose there is something to be said about being in pitch darkness for a period of time.  Along with the tick-tock of a vintage red mechanical Kodak timer to help keep track of time while counting in my head, handling an cycling the film in the dark.  

Something a bit meditative about the process itself ...

Doing some cyanotypes!  Here is an example of something I am working on.  I hope to get three beautiful mountain scenes for an upcoming showing at the Cre8ery Studio and Gallery in Winnipeg!  Dates TBD, sometime in the late winter or early spring 2018, stay tuned!
