Top: Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally is a Japan-only racing game for the Famicom Disk System featuring Mario and Luigi. Some parts of the game have been referenced in later games released worldwide, such as the Mechanic Outfit from Super Mario Odyssey being based on Mario’s outfit in this game. On the cover, there is an error with Luigi’s artwork. His right hand (viewer’s left) has six digits: the thumb, the extended index finger, and four more fingers curled up.

Bottom: this artwork was reused in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the “Monster” spirit (”Monster” being the name of the vehicle Mario and Luigi are driving). Here, the error was corrected, with the extra finger being removed from Luigi’s hand.
