Surprisingly, Iâve read 2 amazingly written books in just a matter of 1 full week! Iâd never imagined myself accomplishing something like that, but I guess, I have to give all the credits to the fact that weâve gone over 90% our internet data and just to prevent my mom from going on a tirade, Iâve decided to devote myself to reading. (idk if this does something to our usage, im kinda sneaky) For the purpose of this post, Iâm going to share a quote from each book which basically stood out to me. I think these quotes do a successful job giving you brief summaries of what the two will entail. âââ Eleanor and Park âââ âI just canât believe that life would give us to each other,â he said `and then take it back.â â¨âI can,â she said. âLifeâs a bastard.ââ¨He held her tighter, and pushed his face into her neck.â¨âBut itâs up to us âŚâ he said softly. âItâs up to us not to lose this.â Fact: I donât care if a bookâs too cheezy and all, as long as it connects to a teenâs life, Iâm all for it. So for this one, I thought it was challenging for the author to shift from one point of view to another, but all her hard work definitely paid off! I loved how this book contains basically two different stories about two different people; one thing that connects them? They are both relatable. I sort of didnât like the idea that Eleanor and Park were paralleling the relationship Romeo and Juliet had. If you havenât read that one, which I assume you wonât because itâs written by the wonderful & baffling Shakespeare, the two basically fall in love with each other so fastly they havenât even gotten the sweet opportunity to know each other well. Rowellâs book is different, however, I felt like her characters fell in love with each other way too easily which obviously did not impress me that much. The superb thing though, the author provides a plethora of beautiful quotes here â There were a couple of points where I had to snap it shut so I could highlight some because I can see myself saying those once I enter a relationship â (perhaps relatively similar to theirs. Iâm thrilled no jk kinda). So, if youâre searching for an easy read, you have to give this a shot. I feel sorry that I didnât get to read this as early as possible, but basically the story details about a high school romance and it also covers issues regarding living with a family. I thought the author did a nice job revealing why the two crucial characters behave the way they do. Great great job, Rowell! 4/5 for this baby! đ ââ-Miss Peregrineâs Home for Peculiar Childrenââ- âSometimes itâs better not to look back.â In todayâs culture, this one sounds slightly clichĂŠ, but it best describes how Jacobâs adventure started. He had almost an insatiable desire to find answers for himself and maybe he wouldnât have felt that way if he hadnât witnessed something so PECULIAR. Bruh, I wouldâve done the same if I were him! I was deeply hooked by his journey, because somehow, itâs got a Peter Pan vibe into it â which is kind of strange, but itâs probably just me. I like how the author also gives us a hint of a love story here â perhaps to give us a pause from the mystery behind Jacobâs grandfather. But! Their love story is very unique because itâs not the typical romance we see on T.V. or read about â at some point youâll realize it shouldnât be a relationship one should enter in, but regardless, I had the feels of it! One thing that I sort of did not like was how unrealistic the conversation Jacob and his dad had towards the end, but it wasnât as if the author had meant this to be fully realistic in the first place â duh this is a peculiar book what more should I expect. I wasnât even expecting for that scene to be a possible event, however, it wouldâve looked more realistic and (I guess cooler) if the author added more details about how Jacobâs parents (father) might have felt about the little discoveries he found from day to day (and from what was supposed to be there âtherapeutic moveâ). Overall, this one falls more into the adventure category and I loved it just as much as I loved the book above! 4/5 Might read the second book some time soon! Right now, I like to fall from one story to another just to gain different perspectives and feelings that I may or may not connect to my daily real life events. Thatâs just how it is. đ Up next: Thirteen Reasons Why (I wanted to read this during my sophomore year because my English teacher was reading it, but Iâd ultimately lost the inspiration to - but nowâs a perfect time to dig into it!) Just a little note, Iâm in need of book recommendations, so if you could offer some help, thatâd be over the top awesome. I love anything teen-related (suspenseful/mysterious stories preferably) And follow me on my other social media accounts. I get more active there than I do here: @brysagelliv (snapchat & instagram)
