Story Idea:Other plot ideas for the Love Triangle
Tbh I've just gotten tired of love triangles. They always have A and C being friends, then B comes along and A develops feelings for B. C is jealous and nasty because they had feelings for A that they never confessed, and get upset A likes person B and not them.
And don't get me wrong that plot can be done well! That can be done super well and be an awesome read, but its normally not, and that same script is super over used.
I'm sick of that potential for deep character friendship being reduced to C getting angry at A for not loving them.
So here are some other options for C being in love with A.
A and C are long time besties. C has had feelings on A for years. But when A starts to become close with B, C gets nervous. However, by watching how A and B interact and talk of each other, C realizes that their feelings for A were never romantic. Only that of a close friend or sibling.
(Maybe C is aromatic, maybe they were just pressured to believe they need to fall in love and date by society and media, ect.)
C had felt close friendship with A, but instead of love, what they actually felt was lust in adition to that platonic closeness. As in, they wanted to have sex with this person they were close with, but never actually wanted to date them.
(Maybe they couldn't tell the difference cause when you're young wanting to kiss someone, and being in love are basically the same thing.
Maybe they are demisexual and didn't get why they felt this extra feeling with their best friend, and not their other friends, so they assumed it was love.
Maybe they though love and lust went hand in hand , so assumed that because they wanted to have sex with A, they must also want to date A. And then C will find out that the two are different.)
A and C were friends for years. As time passed and both got older, C becan to have a crush on A. They never told A because it didn't seem right.
When A and B fall in love, C is a little sad that A won't return their feelings, but soon realizes that when their crush had first developed on A, neither were in the right mental state. (Or that just C wasn't actually ready to love and recive love) And knows they only would have hurt A, or hurt each other. A and B stay together happy, and all three are the best of friends.
-C eventually gets their own happy ending.
C like their friend A, who they've know since diapers. The two are as close as can two can get. When they get to high school C develops feelings for A, and confesses. A turns them down nicely, still wanting to stay friends. C says some hurtful things and stays away for a few weeks. When they come back together, A is dating someone. C is sad, but apologies for what they said and the two grow close agian.
C's crush goes away with time.
A and B are dating secretly, when C gets involved. Turns out they had know A (but not closely) for years, and in that time had grown feelings. They get jealous when A turns them down, and attempt to ruin A and B's relashinship. They fail, and in the process realize how wrong what they were doing was. They apologize and work to fix it, and the three end up close.
When A turns them down, they end up going after B. They still love A, but think taking B away will make A love them.
(They can make A think B cheated on A, make B think A cheated on them, get B to cheat (maybe through seduction, maybe through alcohol), ect.) But they soon come to realize that getting A forcefully out of a relashinship didn't make A want to date C, it make A depressed and enclosed.
They then work to fix what they did and maybe go off alone for awhile, maybe the three become friends.
A was dating C because C had manipulated them into the relashinship. C hadn't ment to, but being young and dumb had pressured A to date them. By making A feel guilty and like they were making C feel abandoned, or by saying how no one loved them and only believing A loved them once they agreed to date.
This was hell on A, who turned from the once happy, talkative person with lots of friends and intrests, to the school's recluse. They didn't talk to others for fear of making C feel left out. Their grades were slipping because they were spending more time with C instead of studying. Their mental state starts to crumble.
Then B comes along. A and B get close because of B's gentle persistence and kindness.
At first C is livid and tries to make A stop talking to B, but B just keeps coming back because it's clear to all that A needs B's shoulder and support.
C is forced to confront that they are at fault for hurting A. C also realizes they no longer have the same romantic feelings for A they used to, because A is completely different from how they used to be. C sees how thanks to B, A has started making friends agian, got more chatty. That A is back to all high grades, and they are even becoming hesitantly more affaconate to C agian, not initiating kisses or anything, but hugs and hand holding. And now C can feel how the only love A ever had for them was that of a friend or a sibling.
C mmediately approaches A about it. Breaking things off, apologizing for manipulating A like they had. And then, offering a choice. Giving A the choice to start over to the friends they were before they started dating, or to leave each other alone.
A can chose either, and the three can become friends, heal and grow as people, and A and B eventually date.
Or A can those to walk away. Both A and C will learn about themselves and grow as people, and head separately. A and B will start dating, and maybe some day A and C will come back together.
A and C are friends. B comes along and A starts getting closer to B. C is scared of losing their shot with A, but realizes after listening to A gush about B, and listening in on B talk about A that the two deserve to be together.
C remains quiet about their feelings for A, but with horror realize that as they're getting closer to B, they are developing new feelings.
So C ends up with two best friends, A and B, who are dating each other. And C is in love with both.
(If/how they get together is your choice.)
A is actually not that great, but C gets feelings for them anyways. Then B shows up. A quickly goes for B, who responds easily. Then they notice the shy C stareing at A with a shadowy but longing expression.
Soon B sees how A really is, and breaks things off, then becomes friends with C. C and B start to fall in love. A is furious and tries to hit on C (who they know has had a crush on them for years. And they abuse that knowlage constantly to get C to do things for them, because C likes them.)
But now C is being treated nicer by B and had lost their feelings for A. And whatever left over love they have is quickly stomped out by knowing they deserve to be treated better then how A treats them.
-(Don't credit me for this!!! This one isn't mine I just don't know who made it!!!!)
That one idea some one had (literally no idea who, but this idea is not originally mine!!!!!!), where B and C fight over A's affection, before realizing that they were just trying to impress each other. A gets a cat or dates someone else and B and C end up dating.
That's all I've got for now, cause its 3:30am. Maybe I'll make a part two? If you write somthing based on one of these, please let me know! I would love to read it!! Also please credit me!!!
