I am a fan of both McFerrin and James. Whether it is Jose’s modern jazz interpretations, or Mcferrin’s highly experimental and free auditory offerings, they are both held together by a common jazz root. Nice mellow track from one of Detroit’s finest. Jay Dilla fan’s will recognize the head jerking swing of the drums and soulful chord progression. Though Waajeed isn’t reducible to his influence in Dilla, it certain;y comes out in this particular track and that is not a bad thing at all.
