Searcy, Arkansas: Floppy eared Melody is sweet as she is cute and is somehow still looking for a home. Melody is a lover and just wants to be friends with everybody. She’s goofy, good with other dogs, and very playful. Melody is ~3 ½ months old. Melody is at Humane Society of Searcy. If interested in adopting, email [email protected] and request an application!
Oakland, California: Ponyo is a beautiful 2-month-old girl who’s learning to navigate the world on three legs (and doing a great job!). Although she might need some extra assistance at times, she’s always determined to give it a shot on her own first.
Ponyo loves to chase wand toys, but she also loves to snuggle after a long day of exploring. She’s always happy to find out where the sun is shining and plop herself down to soak up the warmth. Although she can be reserved with new people, she’s quick to come around. She’s also a purr machine who’s content to sleep on your lap and give kisses in exchange for pets. Ponyo gets along well with other cats, too. She’s a sweetheart with a lot of love to give!
Ponyo is currently residing in a foster home. To apply to meet her, visit https://www.oaklandanimalservices.org/animal-profile/?id=51538&_ga=2.139472947.1418998339.1628906400-1448115291.1628469187!
Southern California: Senior dogs make perfect companions - they are generally easy going, easy to please, and so appreciative of the little things.
Many senior rescue dogs have been through a lot in their years, and they are just looking for a little human affection and a few belly rubs.
Check out seniors Berlin, Brutus, Fanny, and Luna Lady. These expert nap takers with their frosty, sugar kissed faces are waiting for you! You can read more about them at www.labsandmore.org.
Los Angeles, California: Somewhere along the line, I lost my owner and then I lost my way.
My name is Azabache, which in Spanish means black amber or jet. I like this name, but I don’t like feeling so unhappy here. I’ve been stressed and unsettled since I arrived at South LA Shelter on June 26th. Anxiety has made me feel older than my eight years.
I’m a neutered, 82 pound, easy-going, jet black with some salt and pepper shaken in 😉 dog. I just need some affection and a peaceful place to call my own. I don’t like to cry and whine for attention from the staff and volunteers, but I don’t know how else to express how upset I feel.
The noisy, barking-dog shelter is no place for me. I guess you could say I’m more of a James Taylor than a Steven Tyler - and the shelter is pretty much Tyler all the time. So, if you’re looking for a gentle, affection-loving, older dog who’s good on the leash, please call for me ASAP. I’d be so grateful to go home with you.
And, “Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall,…All you’ll have to do is call…and I’ll come running… With Azabache, you’ve got a friend.” 💝
☎️Call 888-452-7381 with Azabache’s ID # A1985401 to make an appointment to meet him!
All LAAS animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on all their shots (including rabies).
*Azabache is currently at South LA/Chesterfield Sq. Animal Services Center – 1850 W. 60th St. Los Angeles, CA 90047
Rhode Island: Who doesn’t love chocolate? Toby and his 5 sisters (Tippy, Mingle, Winnie, Izzy, Zuzu) just arrived at Animal Rescue Rhode Island through their Bark and Ride transport program 🚐
All 5 siblings are just as sweet as they are adorable! These puppies are 12 weeks old, have age appropriate vaccines and will be ready later this week for adoption. Don’t wait, fill out an adoption application now at www.animalrescueri.org.
Chicago, Illinois: Oksana will meet a lot of people and draw admirers for her striking looks, but only one true person will get *her* attention.
Queen of the resting grumpy face, Oksana is a quiet senior gal who knows what she wants and only opens up to people she trusts and knows. Her luxurious coat will need lots of care and she will need someone to feed her what makes her feel best and give her the time, personal space, and patience to trust fully and be her best self the rest of her life.
Do you think you have what it takes to have *Oksana* fall in love with YOU?? Check out her adoption profile here: bit.ly/OksanaCAR and her YouTube feature here: https://youtu.be/l1Uyzx1ACes.
Atlanta, Georgia: Abilene, 3, needs someone steady and kind. She is trying really, really hard to be brave, but the world feels much too big to her right now. Abilene recently came back to PAWS Atlanta after about 6 weeks in her adoptive home because her adopters felt she wasn’t bonding with them in the way they’d hoped she would.
She came to them after being rescued along with many other dogs from the backyard of a suspected animal hoarding situation. Because of their early experience, Abilene and the others in her group have had minimal socialization and will need extra time to feel comfortable in their new homes.
Her shelter friends know Abilene WILL bond with and love her new people, but she will need patience and a commitment that goes beyond a specific timeframe.
She needs someone who can see her potential, but also understand what she needs right now: stability, patience, and confidence-building.
Abilene feels her best when she is with another, more confident dog. She would do best in a home with a friendly dog who can teach her the ropes. Abilene is gentle and sweet and smart.
She’s also quite fearful of new people and situations. She is still learning to walk on leash and loud noises or sudden movements may startle her.
If you’d like to learn more about Abilene and how to help her, the PAWS adoptions team can talk to you about ways to help her transition into your home and what to expect in that process.
Please complete an application at http://www.pawsatlanta.org/adopt/adoption-process and note you would be interested in meeting Abilene.
Hayward, California: Nena first entered the shelter back in April. After having a home for the first 7 years of her life to now spending so much time in the shelter, she has become quite stressed and is seeking someone somewhere who can give her a routine with some TLC!
She’s the sweetest girl ever, she loves to give kisses, be right by your side, and is a great companion for a stroll.
She is fascinated by the outdoors, knows sit, shake, down, and is food motivated if the treats are tasty enough!
Visit the shelter at 16 Barnes Ct, Hayward CA, or call 510-293-7200 to learn more!
Los Angeles, California: Looking for a sweet, soft, teddy bear-faced senior pup to be your new BFF? Look no further than Javi, who is currently in need of a loving home with a seeing eye human guide.
Javi is visually impaired, but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest even in a shelter setting. Javi is great on leash and is very good at being guided so he doesn’t bump into things. He loves treats and he is a fan of balls 🎾.
We would love to see this sweet-faced 9-year-old boy out of the shelter and into a loving home. Wouldn’t you?
1️⃣ Call 888-452-7381 with Javi’s ID # A1985842 & LAAS will share all information available.
2️⃣ If you’re interested in moving forward with the adoption/rescue, LAAS will take your information and complete the adoption paperwork by phone.
3️⃣ LA Animal Services will schedule an appointment for you to meet and bring your new companion home.
*Javi is currently at Chesterfield Sq/ South LA Animal Services Center – 1850 W. 60th St. Los Angeles, CA 90047

Dallas, Texas: You, too, can get in on the pet fostering craze that’s sweeping the country!
A message from the SPCA of Texas:
PLEASE HELP! As we head into the holiday weekend we are out of space and still have dogs scheduled to come in. As of right now, we have short-term foster opportunities available, so any length of time you can offer will help us get through this crisis.
These photos are some suggestions for dogs who need very temporary fosters! Please email us at [email protected] if you are available to meet/pick up a pup this weekend. If you can - we need your help.
Boone, Iowa: The Boone Humane Society thanks everyone who sent Agatha birthday wishes and #churu ❤️ They want you to know she is still waiting for her birthday wish — a home of her own 🥰
It’s kitten season, so this older lady is often overlooked, but we know there’s a perfect person who will love her in her golden years. If that person is you, check out her bio at www.bahs.us/adoptables to learn more!
This boy needs your reblogging magic!
Portales, New Mexico: My name is Achilles. I am a mixed breed pupper, and about 2-3 years old. I am sad about being in the animal shelter and it’s very hard on me here.
You see, my family left. I spent days waiting for them to come back but they never did. I was found being attacked by another dog and it took everything the nice people who found me had to help me get free and to safety.
I want more than anything to be in a family, and have a chance to show them all the love my shelter friends have found in my scared little heart. They are so good to me!
But the shelter is so loud and full of dogs who make me very worried. That’s why I need a loving home without other dogs until I have enough time to decompress and learn if I can trust my own kind again.
Please email my shelter BFF Katherine at [email protected] if you have any questions about me. I would like to meet you so we can have a heart to heart. Please come soon!
Paws and kisses,
Achilles
Media, Pennsylvania: I am Hurb-elicious! We had to invent that word for me, Hurb, because my lovable combination of well-mannered and affectionate traits in my big lug of a huggable snuggle-bear body – is indescribably delicious! That is — Hurb-elicious!
It’s no surprise that several of my photos show me cuddling with people or blankets. I may be a sturdy 67 pounds, with the graying muzzle and poor eyesight and hearing of a guy who has been around the block a few times. But I express my sweet, appreciative emotions. I’m the opposite of the tough guy image.
In fact, I am downright inspiring. Cataracts impair my vision, so I see light and motion, and I am deaf. But these things don't hold me back from living my best life! I am fearless, independent and smart. I learned my way around my foster mom’s house. I go up and down the stairs on my own. When you enter a room, I can tell by sniff that you are there. I can see enough of your image to walk over to you for pets. I know when it's breakfast time and dinner time. I will wait in the kitchen around the same times each day for my food. Sometimes I sit like a human on the sofa to wait for dinner (I would fit right in with a group of patient seniors waiting outside the diner for the early bird special.)
I’m easy going. On sunny days, I will lay in the backyard for a long time with my favorite tennis ball. I will entertain myself with toys, especially chewing kong toys and bones. Though I’m age 9, I can play like a puppy when you like. But I don’t need to be entertained by you all the time. I love walks and being outside, especially in the nice weather. I enjoy car rides and behave well.
What more could you want? But there is more! My foster mom reports that I let her know when I need to potty. I will go to the door and bark a few times. How convenient is that?! I am not a fan of the rain, but I will still go out to potty before heading back inside (I’m not one of the prima donnas who refuse to do their business in bad weather.)
I've done great with other dogs, so I'd probably do well with the right doggy pal in my forever home. With my sweet disposition, the staff also think I'd likely be a great roommate for kids of any age!
While I love my foster home, I sure would love a family of my very own. So, if you think I sound like the pup of your dreams, please fill out the adoption profile at https://providenceac.org/pets/hurb/ and the Providence Animal Center Foster Coordinator will be in touch! My paws are crossed I will see you very soon!
XOXO – “Hurb-elicious” Hurb
P.S. Someone is so excited for me to find my fur-ever home, that they have sponsored my adoption fee! That means I can join your family today for FREE! Woohoo!!
‘Race and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with. But if we ever hope to move past it, it can’t just be on people of color to deal with it. It’s up to all of us – Black, white, everyone – no matter how well-meaning we think we might be, to do the honest, uncomfortable work of rooting it out. It starts with self-examination and listening to those whose lives are different from our own. It ends with justice, compassion, and empathy that manifests in our lives and on our streets.’ — Michelle Obama
Near Philadelphia, PA: Samantha looks so sad! She’s around 2 years old and super sweet. She was rescued from outdoors as a stray.
This pretty fluffy girl is a talker, and she likes other cats and very quiet, calm dogs. Please make her smile… give her a home, or reblog her so someone will see her and fall in love!
