HuluCat- Mango Milk Tea with Chocolate Ice Cream

50% sugar??, ??? ice??? I think it was a fixed amount?

ok, so, yum, but a bit odd, not gonna lie. My first choice was to have it with vanilla ice cream but they were out, so I was like, what the hell, I really want bubble tea with ice cream in it. Mango is a pretty delicious flavour on its own, I don’t know if chocolate is the best mix, but I would imagine it would be great with vanilla ice cream. I gotta hit this place up for sure when it’s properly summer because milk tea with ice cream in it is THE BEST!!!

I also got to have a sip of some regular ol’ milk tea with chocolate ice cream (ok, it might have been a caramel tea or something i don’t remember but it actually had a tea flavour to it, so) and that was BANGIN too

Gong Cha- Fresh Black Milk Tea with Pudding Jelly

no ice, 50% sugar

UM, YES??? HELLO????? i can’t believe this is the first time I’ve tried pudding jelly and it goes so well with regular black milk tea. Also, 50% sugar is just scientifically better than 30% sugar. it’s just facts. Screw being “healthy”, honestly, it’s not like having your tea with 30% sugar is even that much better of a health choice, don’t kid yourself, jUST HAVE MORE SUGAR!!!!!! TEN OUTTA TEN

Cha Time- Black Tea Latte

no ice, 30% sugar, rainbow jelly

this was... okay??? seemd kind of more bitter than the teas usually are. I feel like maybe I should have got half sugar but I didnt. maybe the jelly didnt go well with it either. I might try some other tea latte flavours in future though. I think they idea is they have steamed milk in them?? hmm.

This is kind of a strange tea place, and definitely one of the more expensive ones, but it has a real cute interior and you can like, actually sit inside. They had some truly baller a/c going on in the middle of summer too. They’re big on the cheese tea thing, which I don’t think I’m really in to myself, although I’ve been here enough times to get enough stamps on a card to get a free brulee?? which I should get at some point. Lol. Their Sakura Strawberry Frappuccino is super sweet but also very delicious, especially in summer. dang. They also have some super nice looking Fresh fruit teas with lemon in them and stuff. Their menu is kinda confusing in regards to its sections. There’s a section called Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea, and a section called Ice Rainbow Cup. I pretty much have no idea what I’m gonna get when I go here! It’s fun!

V&V Bubble Tea

this place is a little north of the highest Cha Time on Queen Street and I’ve only been once. It was super cute though. They draw stuff like anime characters on all the cups?? which is unusual and a kind of fun unique thing to do I guess? I’d like to go again sometime. The drink was good as I recall, I think I just got a chocolate drink lol.

Here’s a general review bc I’ve been here the most out of any of these places. Wow! The one at the top of Queen Street is open late and also sells shoestring fries and fried chicken, which is probably for the drunk people hanging around at night or something. The fries are DELICIOUSSSS!!!! So so good. In my opinion. GET THEM!!!

The milk tea flavours in general are I guess, less fresh and tea like than gong cha? maybe? but its still a good and nice time for a humble milk tea. They dont give you an excess of toppings, I don’t think, which is ok by me because I always end up with too many toppings left over at the end. I usually just get regular milk tea, or caramel or hazelnut chocolate flavoured tea from here, bc they’re always good. One time I got one of the mousse teas and I really did not enjoy it much at all. I also tried the singapore milk tea recently and, uhh, I don’t really remember what it was like, but it didn’t seem that much different from regular milk tea. Ive also had jasmine milk tea, which i used to like but have kind of gone off, and I think I’ve tried a sort of peach iced tea frappe thingy. That was really good, whatever it was!

Much like Gong Cha they have an absolutely ridiculous number of different flavours and styles available. It’s a little overwhelming, so I usually just a get a regular reliable flavour bc I’m apparently too scared to get out of my comfort zone. Booo.

This Tea place is like, right next to Gong Cha, so they kind of always seem to have fewer customers bc everyone loves Gong Cha as an established high quality franchise.

Anyway. I’ve had a Jasmine Milk Tea from here, which honestly I didn’t super enjoy. I also had a Baked Oolong Milk Tea, which was... kind of odd? It was ok, but I wasn’t super in to it.

I think one of their better things is their Fresh Fruit Tea section. I’ve had the Jasmine Super Fruit Tea, which is a maybe tooo sweet Jasmine Tea that also is stuffed with Apple Slices, Pineapple Slices, Orange Slices etc. I’m a fan! If you’re not getting enough fresh fruit in your life this is a pretty good way to get some tasty fruit goodness. Maybe not the most practical or cheap way, but there it is.

They seem to be big in to the Cheese tea thing now too, which I don’t think they had the last time I went, but now they do. Those seem to be pretty popular.

Mini Monster Teas

This was the one in the universal citywalk in L.A, california?? They seem very in to like, being instagrammable drinks. I honestly don’t remember what I got, I think it was probably just a regular milk tea, or maybe a jasmine milk tea. we also got, this like, fruit filled tea without milk, that had an orange and pink/purple gradient, and came in a jar with a little bear lid, and a flower crown??? baffling, but what the hell. Why not. It might have been the Sunrise Passion Fruit Tea. Or, more likely, the Sunset Strawberry Lemonade. Yeah I think it’s that one actually. they were also selling these really nice rainbow gradient thermos drinkbottles and I kind of wanted to get one, but I didn’t, and they don’t seem to have them on their online store any more. so sad.

Gong Cha Summary

I THINK that’s all the flavours I’ve tried from this brand so far. Clearly I’ve gone here way too much. Yikes! But in future I’d like to try the Brewed Tea series, which seems to just be tea without any milk additions, and I’d like to try more from the signature series, and also other flavours from the fresh milk series, like earl grey, oolong and matcha. I’d also like to finally give some other toppings a try like pudding jelly, ai-yu jelly and white pearl. Please help me

Also they keep adding other random additions to the menu, for example, a toffee milk tea, and a Roselle drink with white pearls which looks super pretty. What a time to be alive.

Gong Cha- Oreo Chocolate Smoothie

I’m not sure if there are ice and sugar options for this one since it has blended ice in it already. Anyway. It’s super super cold and SUPER delish. Also has oreo bits in it i think. Not really a tea at all, I guess, but yeah. More of a blended chocolate frappe thing. Good stuff!

I’m pretty sure I’ve had this? It’s just your regular milk tea but it has oreo bits on the top. I’m not really sure what the deal is with having oreo on everything, but hey. Whatevs. It might also have like, milk foam cream too, I honestly don’t remember. I probably shouldn’t review this until I remember what it’s actually like. sorry.

This is a classic, humble, simple, reliable milk tea. Get it! You can rely on this guy when you don’t know what to get. It’s just tea! I suppose!

Gong Cha- Signature Series Potted Tea w/ Oreo Crumbs

??? Sugar, ??? ice, ??? toppings

I got this a while ago as you can see by me not remembering sugar ratios etc. And I THINK this is the flavour I got??? Anyway I liked the flavour of the tea before the milk got mixed in. The milk foam at the top was quite sweet if I recall correctly, and then you mix it in, and there are also oreo bits, for some reason, that are also pretty good. I’m not sure why this tea is called potted tea. I just googled it and apparently its because you add some leaves to the top and it looks like a plant in a pot. Ok?? maybe I didn’t get this one after all?? Im so confused now. Maybe it was just milk foam black tea. Im so sorry for being an unreliable narrator everyone. Im not really in to the milk foam textures but I like having a black tea without milk that then gets milk added in as a concept.

Gong Cha- Fresh Milk Black Tea

0% sugar, 30% ice, coconut jelly topping

I don’t know what the difference is between fresh milk tea and milk tea??? Presumably, the fresh milk has fresh milk, and the milk teas, uhh, idk, have a milk powder? the fresh milk black tea seemed to have more sort of residual milk foam/bubbles at the top, so thats also a thing. Anyway I really enjoyed this one. I wanted to get it again warm, but I’m not sure I did? I did get the same thing again though, at another point, and it was still good I think. I don’t always like having toppings though because i always end up with them left over at the bottom and I have to rip open the drink to scoop them out with a spoon and its kind of a weird situation. It’s that or risk choking to death slurping them up with the straw, which just doesn’t work well without any liquid. I’m not very good at this, basically.

Gong Cha- Strawberry Chocolate Milk Tea

50% sugar, 70% ice, no toppings

I didn’t actually get this one for myself, I just tried some of it, and it’s insanely sweet. Hits you with the syrupy sweetness of the strawberry and then you get the chocolate flavour. And then the tea flavour, I suppose. Nice, but mad sweet?? I think I’ll pass?!

Gong Cha Orange Green Tea

pretty much what it says on the tin. There’s no milk or anything, it’s a green tea with orange. Kind of an odd flavour in my opinion, don’t think I’d get it again, but definitely refreshing. !?!

Gong Cha- Milk Coffee

30% sugar, no ice? No toppings

A lot stronger than I was expecting! Definitely a classic iced coffee type deal, with milk. Probably would have got 50% sugar if I’d known that it was strong. I don’t know much about coffee though and I don’t have it that much. But I was kind of shaking and weird for a long duration afterwards, so, yeah. That’s why I don’t usually get coffee. Probably wouldn’t get again but I am curious about the Coffee Milk Tea. Is it tea? is it coffee? we just don’t know!!
