This makes me want to cry a little bit.
I’m just biding my time until I see the carnist notes on this… “omg! stuped vegunz! All you’re soy is killing teh rainforets! this is why we can’t all go vegunnn!! seee!??!?!”
Oh please, please bring it. Come on, do it. I cannot wait to shred you apart.
You have much anger, grasshopper.
Gooooooood
can y’all shut up like
What the fuck is that vegan talking about
SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING VEGAN IDIOTS
THIS IS MY FUCKING COUNTRY BEING RAIZED TO THE GROUND. THIS IS MY FUCKING COUNTRY BEING EXPLOITED FOR ALL HER NATURAL RESOURCES AND LABOR, JUST SO PEOPLE IN THE FIRST WORLD LIKE YOU CAN CONTINUE TO LIVE COZY FUCKING LIVES.
GO FUCK YOURSELF.
FUCK YOU AND YOUR FUCKING DIETS.
HOW FUCKING DARE YOU MAKE THIS ABOUT YOURSELVES! YOU DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO DIRECTLY SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEVESTATION. AND DON’T GIVE ME THAT “SAVE THE ANIMALS” BULLSHIT—IT’S OBVIOUS YOU DONT REALLY GIVE A FUCK ABOUT POOR THIRD WORLD PEOPLE SUFFERING TO SUSTAIN YOU FUCKERS.
Alright, so let me start by deeply apologizing if I have offended you. I think you are clearly getting the wrong message here.
First of all - veganism is not a diet. I know everyone thinks it is some fad diet. But veganism is a philosophy about minimizing harm - to everyone. Please do not make assumptions based on something you may have heard, and understand that one of the major reasons why people go vegan is to help the environment - including the rainforests in your country - not just animals. Veganism helps stop countries like yours from being burned to the ground. I have said this before, and I will say it again - these issues are deeply intersectional. Environmentalism, classicism, human rights, animal rights, etc. They are not mutually exclusive. The reason I made the above comment was due to the fact that people will see terrible images like this and use them to justify making attacks against vegans. They assume that plant-based diets are what are driving the demand for all this soy, and therefore they pass judgments without realizing that this is happening largely due to the meat and dairy industries. 85% of all the soy grown in the world is used to feed animals raised for meat, eggs and dairy products. They say these things to defend a lifestyle that they have been taught to believe is perfectly normal and harmless. But it’s not harmless – not by a long shot. In fact, it takes 20 times more land to feed a meat-eater than to feed a vegan. Do you realize how much of the world’s food (that could be feeding people) is going into the mouths of animals because of the Western addiction to meat? It takes up to 13 pounds of plant matter to produce one pound of beef. Per calorie, it’s horrifyingly wasteful, inefficient and carries devastating consequences. It is completely irresponsible and unnecessary to be destroying the earth in order to meet the demands of this burgeoning, meat-obsessed culture when we can live completely healthy lives without animal products. The point here is that vegans agree with you – we shouldn’t be destroying the lands of your country – or any other, for that matter – and that’s why we’re committed to protecting the environment by consuming the most sustainable diet possible: a plant-based one. With such a diet, we could easily feed every human on the planet without razing swaths of rainforest and we’d be doing less environmental devastation and would be using fewer resources. Large-scale mono-culturing is doing severe damage to this planet - and yes, unfortunately it is most often the countries outside of the Global North that bear the brunt of it. Again, I deeply apologize for the misunderstanding and if I have offended you in any way. It is just sad and misguided how the meat-eating people in Western countries so quickly pass judgment on others without realizing the damage that their diet is doing to the world. Heavy meat consumption is a privilege of the West. It is a diet of affluence that is built on the exploitation of the environment, human beings and animals that most people never see or know about. Trust me, you and I are angry for the same reasons. Most of us that are vegan are so because we care. The whole point I am trying to make is that you’re right – this isn’t about a diet. This is about the protection of your country and the rest of the world. And honestly, if you want to protect, the last people you should go after are the vegans. If we really want to change something, the strongest power we have is the power of our plates and of our wallets. I want everyone in the world to stop funding the systematic destruction of the planet and its inhabitants by doing our part to be conscious consumers. I want everyone to educate themselves and become aware of what is happening outside of what they are told by the governments and corporations that perpetrate these crimes against the planet.
