I...I still can't believe it...
I promise. [holds out his pinky] Better I get hurt than you. I can handle them. I can.
No, no! Don't say that! I don't want you getting hurt because of me!
I...I still can't believe it...
They know not to mess with you now. If they come after you, I’ll protect you. I’ll always protect you. I promise. I won’t ever let them do anything to you again.
Do you promise...? I don't want to get you in danger or get you hurt...
I...I still can't believe it...
No! You’re not gonna go to prison, baby. If anything, it was self defense!
How can you be sure? But even if I don't... What if they come after me?
I...I still can't believe it...
I.. I know. I can’t explain it to you, I’m sorry.. you should ask someone smarter. I.. I’m just glad you’re here with me now.
I... I don't want to tell anyone. I don't want anyone to know what I did... What if they send me prison? Oh god... I can't go to prison!
I...I still can't believe it...
I.. you did what you had to do to save your life. And it just.. I can’t explain what happened to you, but.. it sounds like.. well. A power-related thing.
But that's not my power! I shouldn't have done that! That was...Cammy's power. If it wasn't for her...I would have brought the whole building down.
I...I still can't believe it...
I don’t care. As long as I still have you.. it doesn’t matter.
I don't understand how it happened... I was so scared...and it just burst out of my hands. A-And I couldn't stop, I didn't know how.
I...I still can't believe it...
No… it’s not your fault. You… if you hadn’t… who knows what else they would have done to you…
But...But I killed a person. Another human b-being! I'm a killer!
I...I still can't believe it...
Hey.. no.. don’t even start. You’re fine..
But it's all my fault! I-I went there... And I-I killed someone...
I...I still can't believe it...
Savvy….
Jack... I didn't mean to...
I...I still can't believe it...
Unexpected Events || Cameron & Savannah
Cameron wasn’t sure why she was doing this to herself. She hated witnessing the torture of yet another Gifted, and still she always found herself in these parts of the Facility building. Perhaps she was trying to stun herself enough so she would see she didn’t belong here. Weird thing was she already knew she didn’t, and yet she stayed. She didn’t have another place to go. Kaleb had been more and more absent as of late because.. of reasons. Cameron knew of the things that had happened with him, and yet.. she stuck around here. She didn’t speak of Kaleb, or how things were with him with other Pures, but that was just because… the only one she trusted within the Facility was Kaleb. And then there was Ethan, but that was a whole other problem on it’s own.
She was getting close to the most used interrogation room of the Facility and she could hear the dreadful sounds inside, which made her sigh deeply. Maybe she should just.. turn back. She was only making herself feel worse by being here every time. She turned on her heel, about to walk back the way she came when the sound of a pleading voice caught her attention. She froze in place, recognizing the soft tone. No way… She turned around, marching towards the interrogation room with large strides. They couldn’t have.. She pushed the door open from which the sounds were coming and gasped when what she had feared was actually happening. The one they were torturing, was her sister. Savannah.
The sight of Kyle holding a gun to her sister’s head just sent Cameron straight off the edge. Her hand instantly lit up with fully charged electricity and Cameron shot at the gun Kyle was holding. On impact it flew from his hand, leaving Kyle shaking his arm because of the conducted energy that shot through the gun when he was still holding it. ”What the fuck, Kyle?!” She shouted angrily. ”Get the hell out, Cameron! Unless you wanna join this freak like the freak you are!” Cameron turned to Travis as he spoke, not hesitating when she rushed him, concentrating her electricity into a dagger shape in her hand before she raised it to his throat. He instantly froze in movement as the dagger of energy was held to his neck, licking a the skin. ”I will not hesitate to kill you, Travis.. not one second. This is my little sister you’re hurting, so unless you want me to electrocute the entire facility right this instant, you’ll play by my rules..” Cameron hardly recognized her own voice. The threat in it so dark and violent. ”Kyle! Cut her loose. NOW!” She called at the other man whom was watching them, not noticing a third form coming from the shadows.
Savannah's eyes instantly opened as she heard the female voice. Seeing Cameron's reaction to the situation made Savannah even more nervous. She was shaking in her seat as she watched it unfold in front of her. Unlike most movies, it didn't happen in slow motion, but the exact opposite. "Cammy... Don't hurt her..." The blonde's voice was raw and barely above a whisper, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. Hearing Cameron's threat, Savannah couldn't help but shiver. Something in her voice told her she meant it, that she would not hesitate in killing the Pure standing next to her. It scared her to think that her own sister would be capable of killing for her, but at the same time, she was glad to know she did care after all.
As the other man, Kyle, glanced between the two girls, Savannah noticed something in his eyes. He didn't seem willing to go down without a fight. He had been gripping his slightly injured hand tightly to his chest. But suddenly, he reached into his best, pulling out a hidden knife and readying himself to drive it right into Savannah's heart. But even before he had the chance to act, Savannah knew there was something wrong deep within her. Her whole body was shaking more violently and it wasn't just for fear. Just as he was about to lift the hand that held the knife, Savannah let out a loud scream a rush of electricity ran up and down her body before shooting out like lasers from her tied hands. The sudden explosion sent Kyle flying backwards until his back hit the hard wall. It should have been enough but it wasn't. The electricity kept flowing through Savannah's body without her having any sort of control over it. The only light in the room started shivering as the entire room started shaking dangerously. She should stop, she wanted to stop but she couldn't. Savannah had no idea what was happening to her or how to stop it, which only made her feel even more scared than before.
Unexpected Events || Cameron & Savannah
Avoid Ethan at all times. That was the main thought that was going through Cameron’s mind. She really didn’t want to go through that conversation once again. As a matter of fact, she didn’t want to have any conversations at all. After she had entered the Facility building she went straight to the training room, considering the time of day, it would be pretty empty. She walked the hallways, keeping her face cast downwards. She wasn’t going to be lured into a conversation because of eye contact. No way. Also, most conversations she held with Pures were insults or rude comments because of what she was. She wasn’t the most popular at the Facility, but she couldn’t exactly bring herself to care. It felt like it was supposed to be like this.. and yet…it didn’t. She grabbed a gun as soon as she entered the training room, walking over to the shooting range. Of course, she could easily use her power instead of the weapon, but she apparently needed to learn how to handle the thing… protocol. And she had to say, she enjoyed the shooting. Not really the idea of using it on someone, but the act itself.
After a while of range practice, a pair of Pures walked by her, heavily talking and whispering. It caught Cameron’s attention, even though she just wanted to ignore the duo. She heard a few short whispers about ‘a freak’ and ‘right at our door’ and ‘brought in’. Cameron closed down her training and placed her gun back away in it’s stall before she walked out of the training room. It seemed they’d caught yet another poor Gifted, which pained Cameron to hear. Yes, she was with them, but that didn’t mean it didn’t affect her if a Gifted was captured. She walked the hallways, automatically moving to the place they took Gifted if they were to be used or locked up.
When Savannah finally came to, it was dark. She could barely distinguish the room from the dark figures watching over her; but she could still feel them there; staring at her. It was when she tried to move that she realized something was holding her in place, binding her by the wrists and ankles. As she tried to free herself, the material only gripped her skin tighter, the roughness making her guess it was most likely rope. "Morning, sunshine." The voice came from the other side of the room and Savannah lifted her head as best as she could, trying to see through the blurriness in her vision. She wasn't sure how long she had been in that room, or how long she had been unconscious. "Please...I want to go home." A low chuckle came from the other side of the room and Savannah felt a shiver run down her spine. Something told her they wouldn't be letting her go anytime soon. "But we haven't even started... We have a few questions for you." That made Savannah frown. What could they possibly want from her? She was just a high schooler who never got in trouble. What could she possibly have that they would want to know? "Like...what were you doing outside? And I'd be careful with the answer if I were you." It took a moment for her to even register the question. And another minute for her to think of a good answer. She couldn't say she was following her sister. No, that could put her in danger.
Though Savannah wasn't sure why in the world her sister would come into a place like the one they were in right now, she still felt as if it was up to her to protect her. "I-I got lost... I've never been to this part of town before." Savannah's voice was shaky as she tried to calm herself down, panic bubbling up inside her. She could feel her eyes water but she took a deep breath. Suddenly, her head was yanked back by the hair, making her yelp loudly. "I don't believe you, Savannah." How did he know her name? Before she had any time to think about it, the man let go of her hair and moved to stand in front of her, gripping her and and bending it back painfully. "Let's try this again. Why are you here?" Savannah cried out at the stinging pain. She could feel the bone in her wrist giving out the longer the man would hold her hand in that position. She knew if he kept it up, it would surely break. Tears started streaming down her face as she gasped, trying to speak as evenly as she could. "I-I'm telling the truth. P-Please let me go..." It seemed as if her pleading had no effect on the man standing in front of her, since it only made him apply even more pressure to hand. A grunt was heard from across the room, followed by footsteps getting closer and closer to where she was sitting. "This is pointless." Savannah didn't have time to see who it was before something hard hit the side of her face, knocking her down on her chair with a loud thud. Her head hit the concrete floor and for a moment, her vision went dark with the impact. "Let's just kill the bitch. She's probably as dumb as she looks." A pair of strong hands gripped Savannah's shoulders, pulling her and the chair back up. She could feel sort sort of warmth running down her cheek, which she assumed was blood. The man that hit her was now standing in front of her and she could finally see what the object was. He was holding a gun right in front of her face, ready to pull the trigger. Savannah closed her eyes tightly, just waiting for what she knew was coming.
Unexpected Events || Cameron & Savannah
Cameron had been sick of just about everything the last few weeks. People had been confronting her about her acting differently, and it was true. She was avoiding her old life. She didn’t belong anymore so she was pushing them away. She felt miserable, and she honestly thought she deserved it. She had only caused pain to people she cared about, so they were better off. Also the fact that she was now too deeply involved with the Pures to just drop out, and she didn’t want to endanger them by getting close. Yes, she still cared. But they didn’t need to know that.
The moment class ended, she left Campus. Walking the short distance to the Facility. She had been keeping away from the Facility too, lately. She had been trying to avoid Ethan, so she had been locking herself in her dorm room. But she had to show up sooner or later before she got in trouble. The Ethan business was another thing that was bothering her. It was too confusing and she couldn’t have that right now. It was all just too much. With a sigh she walked into the Facility building when she arrived, already frustrated with having to train in her Pure skills.
Savannah was supposed to meet with Jackson after class. They were going for a walk, just to get away from everything that was happening. But as she was reaching the CU campus, she recognized a blonde girl walking in the opposite direction; Cameron. Where was she going? Savannah decided it was finally time to figure out what her sister was up to. Pulling her phone out of her purse, she sent a quick text for Jackson, warning him that she would be a little late for their date. Silently, she began walking after the same direction her sister did, trying her best not to be discovered.
After a while of walking, Savannah wasn't sure where they were. She had never been in that part of town before and it seemed way too shady for a girl like Cam to walk around in. That only made her even more worried for her sister. As Cameron walked into a strange-looking building, Savannah stopped walking, hiding herself behind a parked car. She had no idea what that place was but something told her going in there was not good. She was about to turn around when she heard a voice coming from behind her, freezing her in the spot "Well, look what we have here." Closing her eyes shut, Savannah took a deep breath before turning around, finally taking in the tall man standing in front of her. "I-I was just leaving." As she took a step back, her back hit something; or better yet, someone. "You're not going anywhere, princess." This was not good. Not good at all. Savannah tried to take a sideways step to be able to run for her life when one of the men's strong hands gripped her arm. "You're not going anywhere." At that, Savannah tried to struggle away from the tight grip but it was pointless. The man was clearly stronger than her, which was proven when he wrapped his other arm around her, pinning her against him. "Hey isn't she one of them? From the pictures?" Panic started building up within Savannah. She wasn't sure what they were talking about but she didn't want to know. "P-Please, let me go..." She tried struggling again, but once more it was to no use. "Yeah, I think so. We should take her inside." The other man nodded and walked closer to them as he rummaged through his backpack. When he finally pulled something out, Savannah couldn't see what it was until she felt a sting on the side of her neck, the stranger smirking at her as he waited for something. Slowly, dizziness took over her body as she grew more and more confused. "What...What did you d--..." Savannah's body fell back against the man holding her. She could feel blackness taking over her vision. When he finally picked her up to take her inside, she could barely see anything at all. The last thing Savannah remembered was her last realization. They were Pures.
Come on...pick up!
It’s probably nothing. But I hope she picks up soon!
I really hope you're right. Thank you, Kimmy.
If any Pures have a problem with my sister..
No, it’s not! If they want to pick on me, fine! But a few guys attacking my little sister? How can I let them get away with that?
Jackson, you're not going after them, okay? No way! Everyone they attack is someone's little sister, or someone's big sister or someone's cousin. But going after them is being just as bad as they are. It won't fix things, it'll only make it worse! Please...don't do anything reckless.
Come on...pick up!
Sister’s usually are. I would know.
She just needs to see that I'm worried about her. She's been acting so weird lately...I feel like there's something wrong.
