Love these figures from when the urban vinyl movement was at its peak, blending street culture with toy design. Michael Lau and Jason Siu, both from Hong Kong, were key pioneers in the designer toy world. Their bold and innovative creations helped shape vinyl culture in the 2000s.
Lau’s iconic Gardener and Crazysmiles series captured street fashion and expressive character design. Siu brought music and urban influences into the mix with pieces like Gangs of the Monkey Playground DJ Bass and his Speak Your Mind speaker-toy series.
The images shown here were originally featured on the Kidrobot website in the 2000s, capturing the moment when these vinyl figures were making a global impact. You can still find some collectors selling them today, but they’re pretty rare. Does anyone own one?? and looking to sell lol
