Goodbye, 2021… you won’t be missed.
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 01: Well, that’s it
The final post of ‘2022 minus…’, wishing goodbye to this raging trash fire of a year, the end of which I may not be the only one eagerly anticipating.
A lonnnng Daily Constitutional today, for which my foot will no doubt make me pay later. Nice weather for it, though.
The final piece of new fiction for 2021, sparked by an image, about a considerate man, considering…
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 02: The river goes on
The penultimate post of 2021, the final piece of new fiction for 2021, sparked by an image, about a considerate man, considering.
Some thoughts on our prime minister…
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 03: A short thought, about our primus inter mendaces
The pre-penultimate post of 2021.
A short thought… about our current Prime Minister.
Two tales from the fourth and final (thus far) Twelve Days of Fast Fiction in 2015.
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 04: 12DaysFF - moreover and clasp
Two tales from 2015’s Twelve Days of Fast Fiction:

Having a wander in central london for today’s Daily Constitutional. Nice weather for it.
A short thought about either/or and polarisation
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 05: A short thought, about… either/or
A short thought, about polarisation and either/or.
(And some housekeeping notes about post-31st December.)
Heading back to the flat after a bit of a wander…
A Christmas set of smiles…
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 06: And so this is Christm— erm, Boxing Day…
It’s Boxing Day, so have some more Christmas-based Smiley silliness..
Heading back to the flat from today’s DailyConstitutional.
It’s getting a wee bit chilly…
A Christmas set of smiles…
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 07: And so this is Christmas [Day]
Have yourself a Saturday Smile-y Christmas… with some silliness, if it’s needed. Merry Christmas.
Central London, during today’s Daily Constitutional.
Pretty empty, but not as empty as I’d expected, to be honest.
And yeah, it’s quite cold.
A Christmas Tale…
New on the BLOG | 2022 minus 08: And so this is Christmas [Eve]
Once upon a time, seventeen years ago, I wrote a story entitled No Time For It, and for some years, it was my traditional Xmas tale to repost.
Not for a very long time, though.
But hey ho. Or ho ho ho, anyway.
So, since it hasn’t appeared on the blog since 2011… here it is again.
Merry Christmas, all!
Almost back at the flat from today’s Daily Constitutional. Cold, wet, and miserable. The weather’s not that great either.
Haven’t plugged these for a bit, but since it’s relevant again:
My three part series on the blog on how tippexing out the word “Jew” and writing “Israel” or “Zionism” on top of antisemitic images doesn’t stop the imagery being antisemitic.
“No, no, that image isn’t antisemitic! I mean, it doesn’t have the word JEW in it!!!”
Yeah… yes it really is.
Longer opening explanation in the links below, but, basically:
…criticising Israel [its actions/government/politicians/policies/military] isn’t per se antisemitic.
BUT… if that criticism is expressed using the exact same words, the exact same lies and/or the exact same imagery, as has been used for literally centuries to demonise Jews, yeah that’s antisemitic, Israel references or no.
And if you insist on expressing your criticism by using classic, age old, antisemitic tropes and themes, antisemitic imagery, or antisemitic canards…
…then, yeah, people are going to justifiably - note that word - justifiably say “yeah, that’s antisemitic”.

Part The Second: The Rothschilds
Part The Third: The Blood Libel
Heading back to the flat, having stopped off on the way for a Daily Constitutional. Wet, but not particularly cold weather.
