This sounded like a wonderful idea in theory, but with lack of sleep(like 1 hour!) and poor nutrition...it is proving challenging!!!!! But we are on the last few legs of van1---go ytri!

2 Legs Down!....34 to GO!!!
Ytri Ragnar Crazy Weather
We signed up for a race in June thinking, this is the Midwest it will be in the 80's and sunny...well the week preceding we had temps of 100---what the he...! Then today it storms and is 55 degrees. So what are we in store for-- who knows, but the prediction is rain, thunderstorms, and hail!! Really?!! How is one to pack for such weather? Two pairs of shoes, towel, lots of clothes...so much for packing light. But rain or snow we will laugh and maybe cry our way through together! But I am shouting out a prayer to the weather gods---how about 70 and maybe some sunshine:)
So our team shirts finally arrived! Not bad, huh? Hey, looking good is half the challenge. Check! Thanks to Lynn Kupczyk from the Alpine Runners for helping us design the logo.
We LOVE adventures, and crazy races...so what better than an 197 mile running relay from Madison to Chicago! Crazy YES, but who said that tri-athletes aren't a unique breed. What is this adventure race you ask? The Ragner Relay is a running race series that has teams of up to twelve members that compete in a relay that runs for about 197 beautiful miles from Madison to Chicago. And so we thought, “197 miles with eleven other runners that run through the night(dawn to dusk to dawn)–crazy maybe but we can do that!” We certainly are going to have to roll with the punches, as there are 6 of us per van, and by the end of our 36 hour sleep deprived running craziness, we are all going to be best of friends! We are not elite athletes, we are doing this for FUN…yes I said FUN, certainly not in it to win it!
We assembled our team of 12, thanks to Becki and Warren. Who we are? Geoff Abdoo, Jen Bilson, Jim Bollenbacher, Warren Dawkins, Sandy Frank-Pazerunas, Debbie Hassman, Cassandra Lems, Kevin O'Donnell, Karen Shanahan, John Stires, Becki Suthers, and April Williams.
We came up with a name, “YTri this CRAZY Race?” we picked the legs we will be running. And we decided to raise money for UPS for Downs (United Parent Support for Downs Syndrome), specifically to raise money to promote literacy for those with Down Syndrome, the Katie MacDonald Literacy Project. We wanted to turn our crazy adventure into helping out a great cause. If you would like to donate to UPS for Downs, please click here.
Join us on this blog June 10th, and 11th to keep up with this crazy Ragnar Y-tri team!
