another chapter cover for @themonsterandthechild's manuscript
I took so many reference photos for this one lol
was it a bad idea to do an entire 5 minute song for my first ever pmv? absolutely. will that stop me? it remains to be seen.
(I am almost done compiling all the images and planning where everything goes. I started this project 6 months ago)
the bathroom at my job is kinda wack
the yellow circle is where you have to stand to wash your hands
extra toilet paper and paper towels are stored in the dog crates
and there's an inexplicable footstool on a little platform with wheels, the purpose of which I cannot fathom. there's a single boot on it
updated my trollsona a bit. they have a name now!
god tier and name explanation below the cut

today marks 10 years since the completion of one of my favorite stories ever! 💕🐘🍄
if you haven't already, give it a read here:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I'd give an elevator pitch, but this is one of those works where you really have to go in blind. trust me though, it's absolutely worth it
💕🐘🍄
no art post today. busy spilling flour on the floor to get extremely specific reference images
I'm really on an "intimidating figure looking down at you backlit by the moon" kick, huh?
mockup of a chapter cover for dr. kathleen kellett's fantastic novel manuscript. and here I was thinking I'd outgrown YA
monsters have often been used to represent groups of people that society is afraid of. some stories have sought to re-humanize these groups by using monsters as a stand-in for the disabled, the non-white, the queer, or the otherwise "undesirable". but these stories often fall flat due to the notable absence of the groups they're allegorizing
that isn't a problem in this story. here, monsters are certainly a metaphor for many marginalized experiences, but they aren't a substitute for them. monstrosity exists alongside race, disability, and queerness as yet another dynamic that effects how these characters navigate the world
(also there's a butch werewolf)
this concludes me elevator pitch
you can listen to the first three chapters here:

why is pomni harder to draw than zooble
um... expect an animatic soon, because apparently that's something I do now
okay this one isn't actually that old but I'm not really happy with it so I never posted it but whatever!
I am always thinking about cordyceps: too clever for their own good
actually, you know what? fuck it. I'm gonna post some really old art while I'm on hiatus. I think I was 16 when this happened?
context: our raft got stuck on a rock and was angled as precariously as I've depicted, I had only known emily (and everyone else on the trip) for two weeks, and that was my prized glow-in-the-dark water bottle. I still mourn its loss
