"Allow me," he said. He was grinning ear-to-ear. George frowned. He knew his partner was only trying to be helpful, but he couldn't stop the budding sense of annoyance bubbling up inside him. He could open a bloody door on his own, for Christ's sake! They shuffled inside and dumped their bags in the doorway, heading straight to the kitchen. George was starved, and he was glad to see that Fred felt the same way. Breakfast with his partner was exactly what he needed after five hours of endless highways. Nothing could have prepared him for what waited for him inside.

Bugcedes Fest 2026 — Day 14

"Welcome back," Fred grinned as George stepped into the garage. It had been a while since they had last seen each other, but Fred couldn't be happier that of all places, George had come to support him at Silverstone.

Fred let himself sink into the embrace before he would have to lock in, put on his helmet and focus on the race. George was softer than he used to be, although still incredibly fit. He looked better now, with the dark circles under his eyes and the wrinkles on his forehead gone. Fred wondered if that was owed to the Mediterranean sun or botox, or maybe a little bit of both.

"You look good," Fred commented, eyeing his mentor and friend up and down. George had always had been incredibly handsome, but since his unfortunate retirement from the sport there was an ease to him that hadn't been there before.

"You too. Suits you well," George grinned, and Fred fondly rolled his eyes at the stupid pun.

"It's going to be weird," Fred mumbled, "I always used to stand at the pit wall and watch you race, now it's the other way round."

"Do I make you nervous?" George winked, and Fred was glad that it was hot enough in the garage to blame his flushed cheeks on the temperature. "I'm sure you'll do well. You've got a fast car, starting from pole and I'll be watching you. Perfect day for a win."

As he sat down in the car, Fred immediately felt himself sink into a familiar headspace. The one where nothing mattered but the track ahead of him, with an insatiable hunger that could only be sated by a win. Today even more than usually, the knowledge of George watching him closely only fuelled his desire.

The moment the lights went out, Fred sped away, making the most out of his pole position.

When he crossed the finish line in first place, instead of his race engineer, someone else relayed the celebratory message to him.

"Great job Fred, you can be proud of yourself!"

Fred teared up at the sound. George sounded so proud of him, genuinely delighted on his behalf. He had half a mind to request for George to join him on the podium, but he knew better than that. Instead, he jumped into his arms as he went to celebrate with the team.

Fred looked into George's crystal blue eyes as the Brit gripped his neck to pull him closer, and for a moment, Fred's heart fluttered in anticipation, expecting him to close the gap between their mouths. But no such thing happened and George only wrapped his arms around him.

No kiss.

Fred should have known better than to expect George to kiss him in front of everyone. Sometimes he forgot that he was a Formula 1 driver now, and that this silly little crush would have to be nothing more than a fantasy that kept him awake at night. For now, that's what Fred told himself. He was at the height of his career and he enjoyed every second of it, but he couldn't wait until he could afford the freedom he craved.

As he sprayed champagne through the crowd, Fred's eyes immediately found George's, who licked his lips. Maybe it was an innocent gesture, maybe a drop of champagne had hit his lips and he was just trying to get a taste of it. Or maybe, George wished that the champagne was something else.

A sharp stream of champagne hitting his neck ripped Fred out of his reverie. Which was probably for the better considering the kind of PR nightmare a picture of him on the podium with a visible hard-on would be.

After all the celebrations had been done, Fred had been planning on going home, but someone pulled him back by his elbow. It was George.

"Do you have any plans for tonight? You're probably going to be busy, but I still wanted to ask on the off-chance you have a few hours to spare for an old man like me."

Fred had to roll his eyes at the comment. "George, you're only two years older than me! How do you think that makes me feel?"

"I apologize," George said with a grin that indicated he wasn't sorry at all. "Can I make it up with dinner tonight? I'll cook something nice—and healthy—for the two of us, and then we do a little bit of…catching up. How does that sound?"

Fred could barely nod his head fast enough. "I'd love that, that's very nice of you, George."

Needless to say, the night ended with one too many glasses of red wine and clothes strewn across the floor.

Bugcedes Fest 2026 — Day 11

"Happy anniversary, my love," George said as he handed Fred a neatly wrapped box.

"You shouldn't have! We agreed on not gifting each other anything," Fred sighed, accepting the present along with a kiss.

They sat down on the sofa to unwrap it, with George observing Fred as he carefully peeled away the wrapping paper. It revealed a simple black box with the date of their anniversary written in elegant golden writing.

"Go ahead, open it!" George urged.

"You seem more excited than I am," Fred laughed, pressing a kiss to George's cheek.

"I can't help it," George pouted, leaning his chin on his boyfriend's shoulder.

"It's not your fault, I know. I won't keep you in suspense much longer."

Fred slowly opened the box to reveal a simple teal-coloured collar.

"Oh my god, we're getting a puppy?" Fred squealed with joy, bouncing in his seat with excitement. "That's the best gift you could have got me, I love you so much!"

George wanted to share the joy, but how could he when he would have to break his boyfriend's heart? In hindsight he should have known that gifting him a collar without saying what—or who—it was for could only backfire on him.

"Actually," George cleared his throat, preparing himself for inadvertently disappointing Fred, "it's not for a puppy. I'm sorry."

Fred looked at him with confusion. "But…what is it for, then?" The disappointment in his voice was impossible to miss, but it was laced with some undeniable curiosity.

George went bright red at the question. "Well, it's um…"

"For…?"

"It's, uh, supposed to be for you," George laughed sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.

"For me? But I'm not a dog?" Fred furrowed his brows, trying to figure out what exactly George was trying to tell him.

"No, you're not," George sighed. "I was just thinking that we haven't spent a lot of time together recently and this was my idea of, erm, spicing things up in the bedroom," he admitted.

"Oh."

Fred felt a flush creep up his neck, his face heating up at George's suggestion. Slowly he was starting to understand what his boyfriend was hinting at. "So you want me to wear this?"

"Only if you want to, of course. I should have probably asked you if you're even into that sort of stuff," George apologized.

Fred took a moment to think about it. He'd never really thought about this before, but now that it had been brought up he couldn't help but be curious what fantasies George had kept hidden from him all these years.

"I'll wear it on one condition."

George was almost afraid to ask what the one condition was when Fred leaned closer to whisper it in his ear. "I'll only wear it if you tell me exactly what you were thinking of doing with me while you ordered it. Deal?"
