hey guys… we all know that it’s okay for mithrun to have a caretaker for the rest of his life, right? that even after he heals and potentially regains his desires he will probably still need support?? that the goal of healing is not to become a “normal person”, but to build skills to navigate the world in a way that accommodates your disability??? that relying on the people around you is not a failure, but proof of your desire to live????
Being a Mononoke fan isn’t easy
thinking abt him again

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
hi! i have messed up legs and use both mobility aids and braces (professional powerlifting grind-set killed me) but!
red leg brace seems like a permanent fixture (similar to an Ilizarov frame) providing long-term structural support or alignment correction, therefore stays on for a long amount of time!! blue one is more of a "my leg muscles have decided they don't want to engage and i don't want to literally fall over" so a supportive type thing. the back brace seems designed for spinal support, mobility assistance, or pain management, it might also help with posture, balancing his movements while using the leg brace. which is probs needed imo.
therefore they can be warn together!! probably are! even if they're uncomfortable i feel like that's the least of his worries lmao
also i've drawn a little thing for everyone who's curious consider it a TLDR:
sorry this is VERY long <3
This is SOOOOOOOOO awesome thanks so much for taking the time to do this!! Hell yea I'm clapping I'm cheering I'm yelling "yippee"!
Another question for the experts to weigh in on: Viktor uses his cane on the side of his disabled leg (his right side) in season 1 act 1, but uses his crutch in act 2 onward often on the opposite side of his body (his left side). Is the use of a crutch different from a cane when it comes to weight distribution so that it's correct to use on the opposite side of the body, or should it be used only on his right hand instead of his left?
it's so awesome to see people caring!! it means so much to me!! esp with Viktor being literally the love of my life (sorry to my boyfriend) AND disabled! AND doomed by the narrative! i'm back to dissect this more anyway onto what i know about this.
you should be using a mobility aid (crutch, cane, ect) on the OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE INJURY typically for balancing and reducing strain. now why wouldn't he be? no clue. my thoughts are that it's also a super specific case of how his spine is aligned!! i personally use my cane on my injured side purely cause of how my hips are it allows me to keep a certain walking speed, however if it's bad enough i switch it. enjoy a little diagram.
but also! he switches between both with the crutch, this is more normal (and something i do) because crutches typically provide more stability and allow for better weight redistribution than a cane, it could also be a storytelling thing of Viktor's condition is getting worse, so he needs a better aid, to use it right, ect. we can only guess, for now (also bodies are odd and it might just be a 'this is more comfortable' thing, very normal)
THE RESULTS ARE INNNNNNN
Thank you again for all this awesome info!! Viktor is also one of my fave characters of all time I'm so normal about him <333333 (lying)
I love getting all this insight and it's really interesting to see how his use of his mobility aids might be character/storytelling decisions too!! Peace and love on planet Viktor yaaaaayyy
