would you perchance have any fic recommendations for them? specifically about the dynamical part? i promise I only have a purely medical fascination with this subject …

unfortunately, and i hope i don't make people mad with this, there's few fic recs i have, especially regarding the dynamic i really like because they are basically non-existant. willmike fandom, for the most part (especially on twitter), is mainly evil dad william molesting his poor innocent babbu son, and that's just not interesting to me. i am not interested in evil pedo rape fantasy, i like the psychological side effects of abuse & incest and how trauma fucks up your brain.

the few recs i have are smut because that's just the vast majority for this ship. so if you're interested in smut come into my dms and i'll send them to you 👍

also i am simultaneously glad that this is your first introduction to the ship/dynamic, and i also feel bad you stumbled upon it at all. it gave me brainworms.

willmike where michael just has nowhere else to go. he's with william because life's barely worth living anymore as is, and fucking his dad is the one thing keeping him from ending it. he tells william that, and he tells him often. it's not meant to be nice or romantic or self-depricating. it's a threat.

william who, despite struggling and fighting, has nowhere else to turn to either. he's become dependant. he's still violent and he's horrible, but he cannot let michael go anymore. he doesn't have anything else. he can't go back to that room. he can't go back to thirty years of isolation.

of course they still threaten to kill each other pretty regularly. michael makes no secret of it that william is and will always be a monster and if he pisses him off enough he'll set him on fire again, and william is permanently unstable and ready to commit unspeakable acts of violence at the smallest provocation.

not to be controversial but michael wouldn't cut himself if he was to self harm. he's a teenage boy. in the seventies/eighties. he'd punch his walls until his hands bleed. he'd get into fights and purposely anger guys taller and stronger than him. he'd drown himself in all the booze he shouldn't be able to get his hands on. he'd anger his father, he'd break rules to get into trouble, sort of as a way to punish himself. and i doubt he'd do it consciously either. he wouldn't actively think about why he's constantly getting his ass kicked or hurting himself like that. he doesn't consider alcohol a form of self harm.
