We’re pretty sure ender captured Kristin as well cause a god named blue said that Kristin was with her angel and well Phil’s captured rn so…,,
Oh wtf . Hey the other guys said there wasn't anything important said I think that's important . OK. Awesome. . Huh . Wild . Have you tried finding an end portal . Sounds like the first step after knowing this information . Talked to the uh . Big talker crow ? Uhhhjjwhats it's name... pin? Dowel ? Skewer ?
Oh we also met another god named blue, idk if that’s important or not, they don’t really seem to be helpful tbh
Oh thats IMPORTATANT YEAH wait where are you guys speaking to these gods are they just showing up . Because like- I know there's more important things to mention but darn . .. can I atleast get a hi foolishhh missed you up there fucked up you haven't visited .. ohmgd .
Other Titans? We wouldn’t really know where to look considering we crows don’t really concern ourselves with any god that isn’t mumza, or you I guess
Ahhh of course . Uh . To be honest I'm going to be real the only real options we have are... checks watch . Rose and the ocean overlord (my fav 💛 . For reasons obvious) . The empress is in the nether and like . Can't get in there . Hey can you guys take water breathing pots ?
*the crows look at each other nervously before looking back at foolish* yeah about that……we’re pretty sure Ender did something to her cause ender captured Phil and mumza isn’t responding to our prayers :(
Hm . That's not good at all ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ uh . Have you tried finding the other titans . Wait he took PHIL?? OK thats crazy ! Have you tried looking in the abyss . She kinds fades around there every so often .
*the crow that gave foolish the cookie looks up at him* Hey uh foolish? How much do you know about a guy named Ender?
Oh? That asshole? Uhmm ! To be honest I don't like him . Not to be rude to the few beings who are more powerful than me but he's a dick . Stealing stuff and not putting it back... objectively though he's like .
*she waves a hand*
From the end- wait no he is the end . It's in the name . Uhm... he's purple but not in the way kristin is purple- oh hey by the way have you guys seen kristin recently . Cause like . Most of the times you crows visit me it's mostly to be mean to me on her behalf.
Cucurucho awkwardly teleports their way to Foolish's dragon. This is- going to be weird. They wait patiently, bouncing anxiously on their heels.
Leo takes notice of them, taking a second to rub her eyes to see if they're really there. She makes a comment about their new model, not that they're surprised, but ultimately she seems positive about it.
She runs off to yell at Foolish presumably. Cucurucho is nervous.
[@thecensusbureau]
Foolish is at his vanity when leo rushes in, bouncing around and yelling at him that 'cucurucho is here!! Come on!' As if foolish wasn't the one who got the message in the first place. Scooping leo up he kisses her cheek gently, before telling him to go play in her room. Hopefully this day ended well, and not in utter disaster (as her days seemed to be prone to doing).
Since this really was last moment, and foolish had no plans of going outside today, she was stuck in her night clothes (which was FINE she never slept in anything to bad looking but still!) (Her presentation!). She would have assumed that cucurucho would have came to the living room, but no, it was outside instead?
So she made her way outside, taking her robe off the rack it was on. As she walked up to cucurucho she kind of hesitated. Was thing going to be a good meeting? Or was she going to like- she didn't know, get beaten up. She shook her head to herself and continued walking until she was almost face to face to them.
"Hey!" She ran her tongue over her bottom lip as she subtly scanned them. They looked, new! Like- literally. She guessed they had somehow gained a new body (because she was pretty sure robots couldn't gain weight). She liked it though, it looked good like that- prettier too. "You look good today! So like- when did you undie?" Was that rude? Probably.
"Oh no way, sorry for not meeting up wit you sooner then." She kind of gives a lopsided smile, the silk of her robe brushing against her legs as she sways slightly. "It's good to see you too! So, like- whats this visit about" cutting right to the chase she was, much easier to get away if she was going to ceaselessly harassed (stupid fucking birds. Making her paranoid..) .
Foolish blinks once, the does it again. And then she shrugs. This wasn't the first time she had been broken up with (although those times were due to other reasons than just being apart for a time. Like her being an immortal goddess who takes wayy longer to get things- like a human lifespan way longer . Sad!)
"Okay? Any particular reason or did you just get sick of me." She tries to atleast make the atmosphere a bit more comfortable with her joke, but it sounded more flat than she had expected. The half smile that had graced her face had yet to drop, and she was hoping it didn't seem mocking, or like she didn't care.
"I- Uh- Well," Cucurucho fumbles, "You- remember the- uh- break in...? You uh.." It takes a deep breath and steels itself, fiddling with its paws. It stares hard onto the floor.
Foolish's half smile dropped, and she pursed her lips. Hm, yeah she had done that. To be fair she hadn't thought those bots (workers?) had enough programming for them to form bonds, and hadn't cared either way. Maybe a really unhealthy attitude (look- she just got over the one she had about humans, she's trying her best here).
Uhhh- what does one say in response to that. Like. An insincere apology was teetering in, because did she really feel.. bad about that? Did she really feel bad about the people she's killed before? Man- this morality stuff was tough, leave it to a God to not have any you know. She'd really only felt 'bad' about any of it after spending time with humans.
"Uh..I'm sorry?" Her voice gets higher at the end like a question. She clears her throat, and tries again. "I'm sorry. That's uh- a good reason actually."
Foolish looks around as cucurucho shakes, why didn't she have any chairs out here- or maybe she should've invited it in atleast to sit. They looked like they were going to start withering away on the ground at any second. "Uh- before you apologize to me," "why are you apologizing to me," She muttered underneath her breath "do you want to sit down?"
She looked around her place, and beckoned cucurucho over to the short wall she had around the walkway. It wasn't a good chair, but it was good in a pinch. "Do you like- nevermind" She wasn't going to ask if it needed her to carry it, it was a big... robot, and could walk.
"N-No thank you, I'm- I'm alright." Cucurucho waves their paw at her. They want to bury themselves underground right now. "I don't mind- standing. I like- um- yeah."
This is the shittiest break up they've ever done, and they've gone through worse ways of ending a relationship. Cucurucho looks like they're about to die.
She shrugs, if that's the way they want it, it's fine. She sits down however, and wiggles to get comfortable (who knew a silk nightie and a matching robe wouldn't cover the feeling of stone).
"So uh- like- why are you apologizing to me again? For breaking up with me?"
Foolish leaned back, and tilted his head. Yeah maybe cucurucho was onto something- but hey, there was much more worst ways to be broken up with.
"Its- fine, it's fine. Atleast you didn't break up with me over text?" She shrugged. Honestly, she's never been broken up with over text, and thanks to cucurucho, she didn't have to worry about it. Maybe someone else would be majorly upset about being broken up with, but she'd thought the bot was dead for like- a few months. Can't kiss a dead robot yknow.
She nods "yeah- we're cool. No hard feelings at all." To be fair it's not like she expected this relationship to last. She always seemed to outlive her partners anyhow (she thinks it'd have been the same here. Metal rusts. Computers give out and data is lost. Very few things can live forever, and electronics are not one of them).
"So like- how's your life been since your realiving. A little builder told me you have a boyfriend?"
"B-Boyfriend?! What? No- I just- No, I don't have one!" Cucurucho squeaks, going flustered. It waves its paws out in defense. "I- Technically, I-I'm just single now...!"
She leaned forward, a mischievous smile of her face. "Technically? What, so is it a different kind of relationship?" As she does this, the doozer that told her that the bot had a boyfriend pops up, little hard hat covering its eyes, its pink nose being the only thing seeable . It's only about 8 inches tall, and as it makes its way up her body, looks way smaller.
"Oh hey, it's the guy that told me!" And she picks him up, presenting him to cucurucho. "Are you really gonna look at this guy and tell me he's a liar?"
"I'm saying technically because we- you and I- just broke up!" They huff, face reddening from embarrassment. Cucurucho puffs up their chest and crosses their arms. "And yes! I am saying this- one is lying! I'm single!"
Foolish tilts her head, cupping over the small doozer as he sticks out his tongue at cucurucho. "Are you sure? According this guy the person who made your new body was your boyfriend? Any comments there?" Foolish giggles a bit, Maybe this was weird for cucurucho, to break up with someone and then have them grill you on your lovelife- but hey, tis the price they have to pay. Foolish happens to like knowing things, even when she's just gotten out of a building 'coma'.
"Tubbo and I are simply friends and so is Pato!" Cucurucho squeaks out, going redder and deciding to turn their heels and walk away. "I can no longer hear you- my audible range is depleting-! Goodbye!"
They're fine now, she can tease all she wants and Cucurucho wants to hear none of it. Call it rude or embarassing but they're way too caught up in their confusing and unsure emotions about this whole ordeal. Come on, asking if they have a boyfriend when she was the only one they had?? Crazy.
And- no. They're just friends with these two. Sure- they're going on a date with one, but- he did say it was platonic. Unless they had anything to say about it- of which they will simply figure out later.
Cucurucho wants to curl under their desk and hide.
"I-I'll simply see you another time! Goodbye!" They yell out, speed-walking away to warp off back to their office.
Foolish starts to giggle as cucurucho runs away, and that turns into a squeaky laugh. As she watches cucurucho's white body fade away, she sighs. Looking down at the doozer she holds it up to her face, "yknow, at some point, getting broken up with makes you think if there's something up with you. And by you I mean me." She shrugs, and like water rolling off of a whales back, any feelings about it falls away. Placing the little doozer on her head, she stands up.
"Maybe we should go out with leo today. Maybe bring the lot of you guys, have a building contest." She reaches into her inventory and takes out a piece of jelly, holding it up and hears the doozer chitter in excitement. "Yeah, that sounds nice." She heads back into the house, standing in the door way for a second.
"Hm- here's to being friend I guess.", and she steps in, closing the door behind him with a sharp click.
The waypoint activates, and foolish stands in maxos front yard in less than an instant. Brushing off the long trench coat he was wearing, he only perked up at the sound someone's voice.
Her face twists into a faked grimace as she registers who it is. "Oh come on! Why are you always here before me." She makes a movement as if she was slapping at the air in bads direction and settles her hand on her hips.
"Hey do you know what's up with maximus? Trumpet told me that she wasn't feeling well or something along those lines."
Bad ticks his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "Not completely," he says slowly. "I visited him...over a month ago, I think. Before..." he taps his own head, "all that, so it's kinda fuzzy. We ate tapas."
He squints vaguely in the direction of Maxo's roof. "They were starting to lose feeling in their hands," he says slowly. "I don't remember if she let me get a closer look. I don't think she did."
Foolish nods, so there was something really wrong. More than what was usually wrong with maximus, yknow. Not that she thought trumpet was lying, he spent more time with maximus than either of them did.
She ran her tongue over her front teeth in thought, loosing feelings in his hands,, must suck. Maybe he had like- she searched her head for whatever illness she had thought of, but it left just as quickly.
It seemed the only way to figure out was to head inside and meet up with trumpet. He shrugs back at bad, and makes towards the house. "Come on, the faster we get inside the faster we can try to help" an emphasis on try, because she didn't really know how much help bad would be. She had a medical degree, what did he have, a death certificate? She snickered quietly to herself at that, mentally patting her back.
Trumpet answers the door. Tio Foolish has her arm across Tio Bad's chest, and Tio Bad looks like they're in mid-hiss.
He stares between the two of them, tired, then rubs his eyes tiredly. "He's upstairs," he says, jabbing his thumb back towards the staircase. "And Pierre's in the kitchen. I don't wanna be here for it, so I'm going now."
Bad pulls his lips back over his teeth, obscuring it with a movement of his tongue. He shifts so that he's more hanging casually off of Foolish's arm than grappling it.
"Did you get the coordinates I sent you?" he asks, tilting his head gently.
Foolish looked between the two, wha-. She hated when there was a conversation she wasn't apart of happening right infront of her. And was trumpet going to be okay going out to some coordinates alone? Seemed very,,, what's the word,, irresponsible of bad.
"Coords? Where are you going?" He was just going to check up, not going to stop trumpet if the kid really had to go. "You going to be okay going out there alone?" If the answer was yeah and he had a sword what could really go wrong (alot could go wrong. So much. Hey maybe he'd like a gun, she had a few of those)
Trumpet hastily answers “Nowhere!” at the same time as Bad says “Mutual friend.”
They exchange looks. Trumpet glances at Foolish, then back at Bad.
“He’s visiting a mutual friend of ours,” Bad repeats. They’re still hanging off Foolish’s arm. They wonder if she’s even noticed. “She lives just a little behind my place. Trumpet has the waypoint to my house already; it’s a safe area.”
Foolish doesn't miss the glances between the two, and she decides to drop it. "Okay." She shrugs and wriggles her arm out of bads grip (honestly she didnt mind it but she had a reputation alright).
"As long as you're safe about it, don't get eaten." Foolish gives trumpet a thumbs up and pushes bad through the door into the house, making sure not to hit trumpet. "Have funn! I'll have figured out what's wrong with maxo by the time you're back!" She salutes him and grins.
Bad swipes Foolish with his claws as a knee-jerk reaction to the pushing, then looks over his shoulder at Trumpet and gives a wave. "Have fun, Trumpet! We'll see you soon."
The kid pulls the door shut behind him, leaving Bad and Foolish alone in the living room. Bad levels a glare at her. "Muffinhead."
Foolish rears back to avoid his claws, flashing her teeth in a warning. Her hands rest on her hips after leaving bads back as she pouts. "What! I have the doctorate here!" It was displayed on her walls, not that bad had ever had the pleasure of having a tour of her house.
She turns towards the stairs, beginning to climb them wether bad was following or not. Although,,, she lagged a bit as she stepped up them, waiting for bad to get infront of her. She didn't want to be the first site maximus saw, especially if meow was sick.
Bad contemplates the path of tiny arguments before him before sidestepping them all in lieu of passing Foolish on the stairs. No need to stress out Max when he might not even know they're in the house yet.
...Mostly.
"Do you want to knock?" he asks, perfect and faux-innocent in front of Max's bedroom door.
Foolish looks at bad like he might be stupid, in what world would she want to knock. Also bad was literally right infront of the door. "Seriously? Bad, the door is right there, KNOCK!" Making a shoo motion with her hands, he leans against the wall waiting for bad.
Badboyhalo was a menace to society and also health. If there was a window anywhere foolish could've thrown them out of, he would've.
"I thought there was something between you two," says Bad with a small, pleasant smile. He gestures to the door. "Don't you think he'd want to see you first?"
Foolishes mouth opens in shock as she starts tonguing her bottom lip, causing it to protrude. She! Bad! Bad knew maximus could barely stand her! "Maximus had me blocked for what! Seven months! And you think he'd want to see me first?!" She waves over at him, "don't you think he'd want to see you? I mean, you ate food together and that's like, something you do on a date!"
Maximus had been having a nice nap. Well, not entirely nice, he still felt like death, but nice enough considering his current circumstances.
That was, until she was woken up by loud bickering coming from outside her bedroom door. She was too tired to try and guess who they might be, but hey. Visitors were visitors, and they had to have been let in by someone.
He takes up his position at one side of the bed. Heels together, hands behind his back, leaning forward at the waist to look at Maxo more closely. He tilts his head to one side. “Trumpet told us you weren’t feeling so good.”
Foolish steps in behind bad, almost following him before deciding to awkwardly shuffle to the other side of the bed. "Max, hey!" The fake levity in her voice making it a higher pitch as he leaned over maximus.
"Yeah uh, trumpet called and said he was worried, so what's up. " he brought out his clipboard, and started up a record. Man, talking to a patient that couldve mightve possibly hated you was hard.
Maximus was in hell. That's what this was. Bad and Foolish, two not-real-doctors and very public enemies. At least they'd behave themselves for Max's sake. Maybe. They hoped they would.
"Hi, um... yeah. I'm not well." He squirmed. He felt like some test subject. "I don't really... know what's wrong? Sorry."
"No. Well, um... Dan does." She shouldn't say it. She absolutely should not fucking say it. Doing so might get her killed, but... it might also help. "It thinks I might be- be getting possessed Or was just- just worried about it."
Her eyes squint at bad, what the f- . Oh . She knew what he was talking about now, and she shook her head. She was pretty sure the egg had been permanently destroyed along with that server, and usually its victims could, she didn't know, move? And maximus was ,, the same, probably.
She cleared her throat, "So, ehem. Can we touch you." She blinked, "to do tests." She holds out a stethoscope. Surely she remembered how to run a doctors checkup.
All of a sudden, the idea got less terrifying. It wasn't just isolated to Dan and his friends, and their case turning out alright wasn't just a fluke. Maybe... maybe there was a chance for Max, too.
"Eh... Yeah, sure, I don't mind," she replied, even though it was far from the truth. It wasn't like she had a choice. "Do- do whatever you have to."
Bad nods and lets Foolish do her "trained doctor" thing while he does his "assessment of soul vibes" thing. He picks up Max's wrist, which hangs loosely in his hand, and starts to prod in the divot between tendon and bone for the ongoing proof of a soul that is the beating of a heart.
...
Odd.
"That's weird. There's no pulse," he says, looking between Foolish and Max.
"Maybe you're just not doing it right?" And foolish puts on her stethoscope, shaking her head a bit as she adjusts. "This is going to be a little cold." And she reaches it down maximus’s shirt, nodding one. Meows heart was beating, albeit a weird rythym, but it was thumping. She takes it off and looks over to bad, her lips pursed.
Bad frowns and puts his other hand on Maxo's chest. Foolish is right- he can feel her life force pulsing with the steady pounding of her heart.
"I don't think so. I've done this- thousands of times," says Bad, finessing his fingers against her wrist just to be sure. "Her heart is beating, just not- here..."
It's odd, though. Her hand doesn't feel dead. The fingertips look gangrenous, but he can't detect necrosis. It's not- warm, but it's not cold, and it has the same sort of yield and tension that living skin has. What's more, he can feel life in it - at least, he thinks he can...but it doesn't match what he feels from her heart, that's for sure.
They look up at Foolish. "Are his hands...dead?" he asks, knowing already that it's probably more complicated than that.
Foolish takes maximus's wrists as gently as she can, running her pointer finger over maximus’s pointer. It didnt look dead, just a little (a lot) green. Weird. Pressing down a bit she sparked up a little of her magic, feeling it run through her fingers was a welcome feeling.
When her magic finally released out of her, she was hoping to get some positive feedback, instead the wrist in her hands started to spasm, beginning to look less like a maximus’s hands, and more like a mess of binary code. Foolish dropped maximus’s hand on instinct, and as soon as she released it the glitching stopped. Looking over at bad from where she had been startled straight, her eyes wide she yelps out their name.
"I saw it," said Bad. Her wrist fell THROUGH his hand, back onto the bedspread. Bad looks downright excited, eyes alight, a slightly manic grin on his face. "That IS interesting."
Fuck. Something had happened to Maxo during his encounters with those code monsters. That was the only explanation that still made sense.
"No? It's kind of... it feels... cool? Li-like, cold-cool. Refreshing?" She shook her head. Her hands were dead. She wasn't supposed to feel anything there.
"Huh." Foolish blinked harshly, and then nodded once, a jerk of the head more than anything. That was, weird. He wasn't sure he had experienced anything like it (what was with the places he went and having weird parasitic diseases! What the hell!).
"Uhm . So, can you move those? Your fingers that is. Anywhere else that does," he waves vaguely at maximus’s hands, "that?".
Bad picks up Maxo's hand and starts to examine it further. "When did this start?" he asks. "Was it- do you think it's because of the codes, somehow? Did you have any...unusual encounters with any of them?"
Maximus shook her head violently enough to make herself woozy. "No, no! Not at all. Its just... maybe I met a code or two, but... it was normal. Just the usual, yeah?"
"Wasn't there a death message one time?" he asks, practically interrupting her.
...Max doesn't respond immediately, just opens and closes his mouth a little, but Bad isn't paying attention to that. Gears are ticking in their head. He feels up her forearm again, then looks up, meeting Foolish's eyes.
"What ARE the codes?" he asks. "They're- alive, right?"
Foolish shrugs, an uncertain look on her face. "I mean, probably? They can access websites so?" She looked back and maximus for a second, taking in his entire demeanor. Sick as hell, although it didn't seem like a regular sickness. Maybe the codes were parasitic.
"I don't think I've ever really met a code? Maybe they're like leaches, and not like-" and she makes a few hand gestures, attempting to signal out the egg.
"Yeah..." Bad hums. "I don't know, it's- it's weird."
He holds Maximus's dead hands and struggles to feel for soul-stuff via something other than blood or breath. It's definitely there, but it's...rudimentary. He can't get a handle on it.
"I don't think it's that simple. This still- it still feels like Max."
Blank expressions. He sighs, puts down Max's arm, and starts to gesticulate as he tries to explain.
"He's- he's definitely sick, whatever's happening isn't good for him. But he's not being possessed. I don't think he's being leeched off, either. It's not like a fresh body- there’s still traces of their life in there and you can feel it evaporating off. But there's nothing there that isn't- that doesn't feel like- like MAX, you know? He's not losing life, but he's being- changed. ...Obviously."
Foolish taps her chin ands it's like a visible light bulb cuts on. "So she's being like- mutated? Like with code instead of radiation?" Uh, although, radiation and mutation sounded bad. Hopefully not contagious.
She lowers her voice, glancing at max "do you think we need protection other than this?"
He frowns, feeling through Maxo's wrist. "I don't know. I don't know if it's mutating or deteriorating. I don't think it's contagious unless we mess with it."
He looks at Maxo, "Wait, you never answered. Didn't a code kill you one time? What happened then?"
Foolish nods, "So the codes are the source of all this, kinda obviously. Should be we check anyone else who's had encounters?" He looks over at bad, "or just the people who died from them, who. Actually, the people in that category might just be only you, maxo."
She taps her chin, was maximus really the only person to die from a code? Have the children died from the code, and did they count? Because maximus was just a, waves hands, human. Was this having a worse effect because he wasn't anything else? She shrugs, "do you want a totem? See if that'll help?"
Bad pulls out a totem and presses it into Maximus’s palm.
As soon as she’s holding it, it starts to shudder violently, glowing at the seams and making a strange crackling noise. Foolish’s power sparks, intoxicating, from the little golden figure. Like an incomplete circuit.
Bad’s eyes widen. “What does THAT mean?” he asks, looking up at Foolish.
Foolishes eyelid begins to twitch as the totem sparks, but he doesn't wince fully. Whew. Totems. He shook himself out, eyes opening fully to see what was happening. Huh . Weird.
"It means mm . That shes not close enough to death for it to work, but close enough that it can't help but try to revive her. Weird." She shrugs, confused. She had, honestly never had something like this happen. Well except for the time she tried it on a zombie, kinda sorta like this, but instead of reviving the person it had just, killed the zombie.
"New thing to note i guess. I actually didn't think it would work at all, considering he's well, still alive."
She blanks for a second, blinking hard. Uhm. "Oh I know this one, bodies are made of code, like a building block, so when a person respawns the code quickly deforms and reforms, fixing the body right up." She tilts her head "what does respawning have to do wi- oh . Maximus is turning to code. Code that's not supposed to be visible." She purses her lips.
At least maximus is heading to sleep. "Do you like, know a way to fix that. Cause I don't." Her eyes dart to maximus.
"Healing potions won't reverse it, since she's...changing, and not dying. We could kill her while she's holding a totem, but that might make it worse," he muses, staring at her. "Those are really my only ideas."
He tilts his head at Foolish with a slight smirk. "You're the one with a medical degree. My job comes after."
She throws her hands up, "then what are you even useful for!" Running a hand through her hair, she thinks. What could help when the code that's supposed to be nonvisible is, well, visible. Hm, maybe they (they being her or any other nefarious surgeons, badboyhalo is a HACK!), could treat it like a broken bone? Or treat it with a skin graft? That might work, but what about the nerves.. hm.
"Maybe we could set him up with a surgery? I don't know which one just yet, but one of them."
“…That might work. At the very least, we can see if it’s internal, too.” He shrugs. “Besides, it can’t HURT. Everybody needs to get cut open every once in a while, it’s healthy.”
Bad reaches up again and gently shakes Max’s shoulder. “Hey Max. Max?”
Oh! Maximus was getting shaken to full attention. They must have figured something out, but... it didn't exactly sound like it, at least not based on the scraps of conversation she'd heard.
"Yeah? What is it? Do you... eh, need me to answer something again?"
Hand moving unconsciously, he tucks some of Maximus’s hair behind her ear. “We think we might be able to fix it with surgery,” he says. “Do you want us to try that?”
Maximus scrunched up his face. Their hands were always so cold and- oh. Surgery. They both wanted him to go into surgery again, as if the first time hadn't been traumatic enough.
"I..." They shook their head. "No. I don't want to. Not- un- unless you know it will fix this, no."
Foolish glances towards bad, before patting maximus's knee. "Sorry to say, it's kind of the only idea we have? We could also try amputating it, but that might just be worse." She scratches the back of her head, what other options were there, this was the first time she (and probably anyone else) had heard of it, and foolish had been alive for a long time.
"Me and bad don't have to be the ones to do the surgery, but also, have you taken any medication since you got killed? Like, antibiotics and the ilk?."
Maximus felt an uptick in his lightheadedness. That... that couldn't happen. It could fix things. It hadn't even crossed his mind that it was a possibility. It was too... serious. Things like that weren't supposed to happen to regular people like him.
"Um. Healing potions. Pierre has been giving me healing potions," she answered.
He hums. “Normally you’re not supposed to do potions when you’re sick, because they might boost whatever’s making you sick, too. But this- this isn’t really like that. It’s- it’s not viral or bacterial, it’s…degenerative.”
He looks up at Foolish. “I don’t think medicine would make a difference either way. Unless- you have something? This is the exact kind of death that your power, like, stops.”
Foolish sighs, getting on this island sucked majorly sometimes. Bad was right, this usually was something that he could try to heal, but his powers weren't mainly healing, it was the reversal of death, and he could only do so much. Especially with the cuffs (that really sucked??? Who made these. Why couldn't he take them off, very annoying.)
She shook her head, "Nope, nothing I can do. Bad, I'm going to be real, I can't do alot of the stuff I used to be able to." Her face shrivels up, "also, this isn't the kind of death I work with. I stop death from happening the same way the totems do, and you saw what happened with that."
Even the god of rebirth couldn't save Max from his fate. Whatever small bit of hope he'd gained from his conversation with Dan shriveled within an instant.
"Yeah... um. It's fine, you've- ah, already helped a lot." She nodded. It wasn't a lie. Whatever this was wasn't... lethal, it seemed? She wasn't exactly sure if that was a good thing.
Bad and Foolish exchange a glance. Then Bad turns back and talks to her, voice quiet and serious.
“Maximus, are you sure you don’t want us to at least try something? This thing- if it keeps spreading, it’ll destroy your entire body. Your mind. There’ll be nothing of you left, and I won’t even be able to take you home.”
Bad sucks his lips between his teeth, not that it's visible under the hood. It isn't often that he's at risk of losing someone - REALLY losing someone, in the way that's actually forever.
No. No. It's selfish to treat this as anything other than a death.
"If...you're sure," he says, but there's a bit of a hiccup in the usual placidity. He looks up at Foolish, then back at Maximus. "If you're really fine with this," they say.
Max nodded. They were. It was selfish of them, really. Trumpet had done this to try and help them, and Pierre was still worrying over any possible way to fix this.
Foolish frowned, then tried to school her face into something less upset. She did still think of maximus as a friend, seeing them waste away would,,, she'd watched people die before, even killed them with her hands. People close to her have died with less conviction. It was,, hm. She guessed it was the fact that she couldn't help at all.
She ran through the one of the only blessings she knew from other gods, a prayer for luck. "If you say so. I'm sorry we couldn't do more."
